The “fix” looks great, Macybaby. Are you quilting and binding it for her too?

I've been considering this - but I don't know what her plans were so I don't want to unless I know she's fine with it. No idea what she prefers for batting, and my default is poly and I know many would not be happy with that. And I know some plan on adding to make the finished top a different size too. Don't want to finish it if she really needs it 10" longer.

So I was planning on playing it safe and sending the floppy, but it's not been packed up yet so those plans can be changed.

If she didn't have any plans or planned to keep it for herself, one idea would be to have anyone who wants - make a "get well/ thinking of you" block, maybe with a message with permanent ink, and I could put them together on the back of the quilt. Size (within reason) and color wouldn't matter as I'd just piece them in to fit.

Of course that would be a horrid idea if she planned this as a gift to someone else. I just don't know . . .

True... all proper things to consider. I didn't know if you had some sort of prior arrangement with her, when you mentioned the binding for the quilt. Her son said she'd be in the hospital a long time. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/frown.png

Macybaby, The top looks great! I posted about it yesterday to say so, but don't see my post, so I must have clicked on something wrong that time. Let me know if the 'get well' idea flies as I'd participate. It did seem as if jaba's recovery might take some time and her RR quilt will hold memories for her, so finishing it for her own use would be a thoughtful way to have her know that quilting buddies are thinking of her. Maybe TG has her son's contact info?

Oh my GOSH!!! My beautiful quilt came today. I LOVE it to pieces!! I am blown away by all the beautiful workmanship in this. I was surprised at how big all the applique was. The hearts, the children, all of it... seemed so much smaller in the pictures that were posted. I wish all of you could see this quilt all finished, in person. It's a masterpiece. I want to thank every one of you: Trisha, LeeAnn, Mary, Caroline and Rebecca, for putting so much thought and effort into your rounds. It certainly shows. I'm so thrilled to have this pretty robin come home to live with me! Thank you all.

It is with heavy heart that I’m writing this from the ICU. My dear 82 year old father has covid and they allowed me here because my 84 year old step mom is also infected. Only one visitor allowed. We are saying goodbye today. Iceblossom told me I could have till thanksgiving and I thought no way I’ll be done and I am done with The borders but not the corners. She was psychic. He was sick last week and quickly went downhill, admitted on Friday and will pass today. That’s why I haven’t posted anything. Please say a prayer today for Fred. I won’t probably post again for a few days and I love you all. Hugs from afar.

Reba, you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Oh sweetie, quilts are the last thing to deal with right now. Take your time to say goodbye and to take care of yourself. I will not be doing anything with my top until February.

I'm having background personal issues regarding my mother who has also been hospitalized but not from Covid. It's so hard for me. We've had a terrible relationship mostly because she was a terrible mother. She has a personality disorder and is not normal and it was a hard childhood, but I've had to deal with it all my life. I am just amazed how hard it is still grieving for the mother I never had, that she will be soon gone. It breaks my heart that so many things will be left unresolved, but I have to accept that it is best that I continue to stay away.

Since I bought fabric for this, I bought extra dark blue so it could be used for the binding if this ends up being the finished size of the quilt. I have no idea what Jaba's plans are as far as making it larger. So I'll send the fabric along with just in case.

Love these squares, it will be a great finish.
