Beautiful finish for Iceblossom's quilt.

sewbizgirl 11-28-2020 09:13 PM

I LOVE how Iceblossom’s quilt turned out! It’s my favorite, after my own. Good job, everybody.

Macybaby 11-29-2020 09:11 AM

Very pretty!

givio 11-29-2020 10:13 AM

Rebaquilts, Thanks for the up close pictures of the cornerstones! After seeing the whole quilt picture I was wondering what you had done for the corners. :-) ....And my sympathy to you in regard to your father...
IceBlossom, I hope you post a picture of your last round that's planned for the quilt so we can all see how it is at completion!

I think there are two left to see. What a great project this has been!

geevee 11-29-2020 02:46 PM

It sure has Givio, I've so much enjoyed following the progress of each of these lovely quilt tops, so much creativity and talent! I'm very much looking forward to rooting from the peanut gallery on the next endeavor.

Also wanted to say I'm so sorry about your Dad, Reba; and for Jaba's health issue, this has been such a difficult year to get through. Let's all hope 2021 is better.

Mona G 12-01-2020 11:51 AM

Reba, you have my sympathies. I'm glad you were able to be with him so he wasn't alone.
Great finish to ice's quilt, love the corner stone houses.

Iceblossom 12-01-2020 12:06 PM

Rebecca, thank you so much for the beautiful finish in your times of sorrow. Thanks to everyone who made my humble little beginning into such a glorious top! Really, take it easy on yourself and figure there will be a right time to pack it up and mail it away.

I'm still struggling but I'm still upright. Working on separating myself from the past and appreciating the good things of the present, and the promise of the future to come.

Bugaroo 12-05-2020 07:10 AM

Just beautiful Reba! Would love to see all these quilts in person. Everyone did such a tremendous job!

This is what I worked on this week. 85x85

givio 12-05-2020 01:10 PM

Mona, looks like a great opportunity for some fancy quilting motifs.

sewbizgirl 12-06-2020 12:25 PM

Who in these groups was involved in sending 9p with sashing blocks to IceBlossom, for a comfort quilt for Jaba? If you sent her blocks for this, please pm me.

givio 12-06-2020 03:55 PM

Thanks for looking into this! I was wondering who had participated in the comfort quilt for jaba. Has anyone had any more communication from her family? Her son? Is she improving?

Mona G 12-07-2020 11:15 AM

I'd be willing to help organize the next RR, it seems there is enough interest for at least one group if not more.

Rebaquilts 12-07-2020 11:38 AM

Wow Mona, thanks!! I was just thinking about this again, I loved participating in this project. Count me in for sure.

sewbizgirl 12-07-2020 12:22 PM

There were so many people who posted early in the thread that they would like to participate if we did this again. Mona, if you go back through the early pages of this thread you will find them. Thanks for being willing to organize.

Mona G 12-07-2020 02:09 PM

I will need help as I've never organized one before.

sewbizgirl 12-07-2020 05:02 PM

Ladies, it's with much sadness that I bring you the news that our own Jaba has passed on. She died on Dec. 5th and that's really all I know. She will be greatly missed here in the Quilting Board community.

Rebaquilts 12-07-2020 05:25 PM

Wow so sad. Is there a place for donations in her name?

Teen 12-07-2020 05:30 PM

Sewbiz....I’m so sad to hear this and appreciate you sharing. She was precious and was so valiant in her courage. Yes, she will be greatly missed.

sewbizgirl 12-07-2020 07:07 PM

I agree, Teen... she was very courageous.

Many of us have her address Reba, if you want to write and ask her husband Bill about donations. I can send you the address if you need it.

givio 12-07-2020 07:13 PM

Throughout the years I've seen posts again and again from jaba-- since the time when I first joined. She played a role in so many activities here on the Board. She was kindly and a good seamstress/quilter. I enjoyed the pictures she posted of her grandchildren. My condolences to her family (if they happen to visit here, as her son did earlier) and to her many friends that she made here.

maryb119 12-08-2020 06:33 AM

So sad to hear about Jaba. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Quilting the Giant Monster Quilt

1 Attachment(s)
I've been tackling the quilting of my Round Robin quilt! This thing is a gigantic monster. It nearly is too big for my sit down machine.

I love this quilt SO MUCH! The rounds just amaze me! The color amazes me... I will say thank you once again to all contributors. We made a gorgeous quilt!

maryb119 12-11-2020 05:33 AM

Sewbizgirl, your quilt is so colorful and fun. I have mine quilted and I am working on the binding. I chose a dark gray for the backing and a solid black for the binding. It is hard for me to work on at night so i spend afternoons hand stitching. We have a talented group of ladies in this round robin.

travelinggramma 12-11-2020 07:42 AM

I spoke with Bill - JABA's hubby yesterday. All the family came for funeral - all the children and grandchildren. He is surrounded by their love and knowledge that Jan is well in heaven. She had an enormous stash and many sewing machines including a long arm. Fortunately there are a few in the family who either quilt or sew - or want to. they will be given the great task of cleaning out her sewing area.
Just keep the family in prayer - and send a note to him about how she played a part in your life. He knows all about us - but is not tech savvy to look us up!

givio 12-11-2020 06:06 PM

travelinggramma, Thanks for the update.
SBG, nice pic!

lynnie 12-13-2020 02:35 PM

So sad. I remember being in swaps with her and corresponding with her. She will be greatly missed.

Mona G 12-14-2020 08:18 AM

I just added the sign up for the Jan-June Round Robin.
If there is more than one group I would appreciate someone helping keep things organized.

Muse&Sew 12-14-2020 09:11 AM

Jaba

Hi,

So sorry to hear that Jaba passed on! Prayers sent to her family at this time. I was in a number of swaps with her. She was an amazing seamstress & I loved and will treasure the blocks she made.

sewbizgirl 12-14-2020 10:19 PM

This is the link to the sign up thread for the new RR...

It's done!!!! It's quilted and bound and ready from grandson! He is excited about it! I chose a dark gray extra wide fabric for the backing and used a solid black fabric for the binding. Thanks so much everyone!

givio 12-16-2020 05:59 PM

You're welcome, Mary. I'm one of the ones that knows it's so much better in person than a picture! Great job finishing it up so quickly! Thanks for sharing it.

sewbizgirl 12-16-2020 06:05 PM

It turned out lovely, Mary. Hope your grandson enjoys it!

Bugaroo 12-17-2020 07:50 PM

Oh Mary, it is beautiful!! Just lovely!

Rebaquilts 12-18-2020 06:59 AM

Good job Mary! Mine went to the quilter last week but she is backed up until January. I found a lovely backing fabric with coordinating colors at Hobby Lobby in the $3/yard bin, which made my day. I'll post when it is done being quilted as well. Sewbiz, love your quilting table, it looks so convenient. Hugs all!

Colorado Quilter 12-18-2020 12:51 PM

I love how all of your quilts turned out. I was looking for the album that was created so I could see all the completed quilts but I can't seem to find it. Would someone please remind me where I can find that?

Thank you!

Its in Givio's albums, search for her, then you will see the album in her photos. Thanks again Givio for keeping the album for us all <3 Hugs!!

givio 12-18-2020 06:38 PM

ColoradoQuilter, I have 2 albums with RR pictures. I did another one a few years ago here.
Reba, You're welcome, I'm glad to have people take a look at the albums, because it's such a fun project and I hope others get inspired to join in a RR too.

My grandson picked up his quilt last night. He is 18 and loves it. He said "Oh Grandma!!! It will keep me warm tonight!!!" He is a good kid. He will graduate high school in May. What he does not know is that he will have another quilt coming for graduation. This one will have a motorcycle panel in the middle and be surrounded with his tee shirts. He is also working on his welding certificate so he is a busy young man.
