Sorry Sewbizgirl, I know I am probably one of those that typed "show". My dog's name is Bugaroo. He and I are fine with Bug.

Carrie, sending tomorrow will be great as we are headed home in the morning. I've already been browsing the internet to get ideas on rows for round robins... so many to choose from! And then I get to play with colors!!!

This year I wanted to do 2 rounds of sauerkraut. So I planted extra cabbage to allow for deer, rabbits, worms, and turkeys. Absolutely nothing disturbed my cabbage... I now have 76 growing heads of cabbage! This is just one row!! There will be lots of cabbage gifting this year!

Macybaby 06-19-2020 02:21 PM

I wonder how many of us are using pet's names as our board name.

The orignial Macy was a weanling filly I bought many years ago, and I called her Macybaby even after she was all grown up! DH and I sold the horses several years ago. I always told DH that when we moved to town I was going to get a ragdoll kitten, so when we moved last winter, I started looking and found a cute little girl for sale in my state. Decided Macy would be the perfect name for her. She's 7 months old now, and is already bigger than our adult cat. And she's got the typical ragdoll personality, so I'm real pleased with that.

Here is my finished center and a sample of the rest of the colors I was going to add until I realized that the pattern I was using is 14" per block, I had it in my head that the finished 4 blocks sewn together were going to be 14" and I'd have to add a another 2" border of green to get to my 18" max.
I'm glad I realized this before I had to do a lot of ripping or start over with different fabric. I'll be mailing it out next week.

sewbizgirl 06-19-2020 03:32 PM

Givio, your center did not come today, tho tracking says it will be delivered today. (It won't). The mail has been screwed up by several days since all the covid stuff... I'm sure it will show up tomorrow. One more day til fun!

mjpEncinitas 06-19-2020 05:02 PM

Darn I missed the start!

I’ve always wanted to do a round robin. I guess I haven’t been on the board enough to catch this. Have fun! I’ll certainly have fun lurking.

carriem 06-19-2020 05:04 PM

Mona--your center looks great! I can't wait to add the next border. :)

I have my center packaged and ready to put in the mail box in the morning...nice thing about living out in the middle of no where is that I can put things in the mailbox and just pay for them the next day. Small town post offices are great!

givio 06-19-2020 06:20 PM

carriem, your addition looks great!
Macybaby, You could opt to send along the fabric you found with your current center, and others could incorporate it. Or you could use it as a final round after you get your top back.
Sewbizgirl is one for shortening the QB names alright. Mine has only 5 letters, and she still shortens it... to giv. lol
Mona, I like those round log cabins. I got some neutrals and brown/blacks to make a round log cabin block. It's one of my UFOs though.

mjpEncinitas, keep us in mind for later, and check back to see if we start another RR in December. You are not the only one showing belated interest. :-)

Bugaroo 06-19-2020 08:08 PM

Mona, I am glad you figured it out. I was wondering from an earlier post of yours when you said, "only 3 blocks more to go". I just thought your blocks were very small but photographed large! Still love the fall colors.

Carrie, I will be looking for your package.... so excited!

Macy I think lots of us use our pet names for handles, as well as, for passwords. I do try to be random for passwords in our world of cyber space.

What a pretty garden! I'm jealous. We can't have one unless we put a 10-foot fence around it. The last time we tried, the deer and rabbits got it all. All that work, just for them!

Hi Mary Jane! Oh, you would be perfect for this! Hope you can get in on the next one. You make about the 4th person who is waiting for the next RR.... I think 4. If you read through the thread you will see who. Maybe one of you wants to start another RR for yourselves? Someone shows up every few days wanting "in", so I know there will be more. Our groups have 6 each. Even just 5 would work.

Great to hear from you!

travelinggramma 06-20-2020 06:20 AM

MonaG I love fall and leaves and colors. Have plenty to choose from in my stash too.
Jaba's center may be here today!! Have an idea but need to see about colors!

Macybaby 06-20-2020 09:40 AM

here is my second center - I think this one will allow for a lot more fabric choices for adding rows. I tried doing the math so the points would be at 18" but it wasn't' working out well, so the points will be floating.

The edges of the squares are bias cut, as I used ombre fabric and wanted the lighter part at the outer corners.

sewbizgirl 06-20-2020 09:49 AM

Wow Cathy, that is gorgeous! And you are right... lots of color options.

I’m waiting for the mailman... giv’s center was supposed to be delivered yesterday but the mail was delayed. Gotta be today.

maryb119 06-20-2020 09:56 AM

Beautiful center, macybaby.

Tracking shows my center got to LeeAnn. I am waiting for Iceblossom's center to arrive.

LeeAnn 06-20-2020 12:16 PM

My Round Robin Block

Mary, I got your center and it is really pretty, I love it being scrappy! I'm going to attempt to post my center. It will go out on Monday. I decided last minute it needed a little thread scribbling for character.

sewbizgirl 06-20-2020 02:19 PM

Givio's center came today. Now... what to add?

I hope everyone in Group 1 is ready and able to mail by Monday, the 22nd. Do we want to work our way back to the 15th for next month's mailing? I think we can do it!

maryb119 06-20-2020 02:45 PM

The 15th for a mailing date is fine with me.

givio 06-20-2020 04:29 PM

Macybaby, I like fussy cutting, and also backgrounds that aren't the usual neutrals or white. Your center is cute!
LeeAnn, great news, thanks for letting us know your center will be going out. Are you able to post a picture of it? I'm looking forward to getting it!

Depending how many days it takes for the center to get to me, I might have only two weeks until it's time to mail it. Generally, I sew on weekends-- I have 10 hour days at work coming up, it's our peak season and we often get overtime. I'll try to do my best time-wise for mailing the first round.....I wanted to mail on the 1st of the month, like Group 2, to give me more time, but that idea bombed. LOL :-p

carriem 06-20-2020 04:39 PM

Macybaby--that is another pretty center block!

Mona--thanks for the tracking number.

Bugaroo--I should have a tracking number for you on Monday (my center went out today, but I have to wait for the receipt to have a # to share). :)

sewbizgirl 06-20-2020 06:17 PM

Givio, you will be mailing to me. If you need extra time, you can have it. I sew pretty fast (once I get an idea...) so I can make up time if you send late.

Bugaroo 06-21-2020 03:58 AM

Macybaby, very vibrant center and I agree, it gives lots of color choices.

Carrie, no problem on the tracking, Monday is fine. We came back Saturday and I expected to have multiple packages hanging on the gate to our drive way. Usually, when the gate is closed, UPS and Fedx hang packages in plastic bags. But nope... everything went to the post office for a hold. So Monday will a be a good surprise day.

Hi all! I'm attaching a photo of my center, I finished it last night after going to JoAnn and picking up a bunch of fabric to send and washing it. Now I'm ready to mail. I'll post two of my other past round robins to show off. Hugs all! Reba

Here is one past RR. The inspiration is the border fabric. I did something kind of fancy for my center, pieced roses in a round pieced center. I drafted this with literally calculating the angles on paper, then specialty cutting the background wedges to make it into a circular pattern. There were 5 in the group, one did the side baskets, one did the applique on the top of the roses, one did the bottom baskets, one did the 9 patch with the fussy cut hats, and the last was the border of the inspiration fabric. I love this throw, I use it all the time. The gal who did the final border added touches like the buttons in the bottom baskets. Hope you enjoy the photos! Reba

You asked for one more pic, this is memories of New Hampshire RR, my uncle lives there and I have wonderful memories of the state, including Keepsake Quilting's store ;-). I started the rows with "live free or die" state motto, then the NH Mount Blue was added, then the white birch (she is so gifted, you can see the white bark on her threadwork for the trees), then the lilacs (again, so gifted, she made the lilacs with tiny fused flower petals, she rolled the fabric upwards for a 3-d effect and attached them with tiny gold seed beads), then the outside border. I asked for a purple, blue and yellow color scheme. I love this RR.

Rebaquilts 06-21-2020 04:22 AM

FYI Bonnie I am officially in love with your center block and extremely inspired. I ordered more background fabric for your center yesterday and one of those charm pack wheels in a rainbow ombre so I can do my border, so I won't actually be able to start my border until next weekend, but I think I can make the 15th for a mail out next month https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images...es/thumbup.png I knew I would be using up a lot of the background fabric for my first border (I am specialty paper piecing) so I didn't want to leave the next person lacking https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images.../thumbdown.png It will look good! I'm so excited https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/heart.gif

Rebaquilts 06-21-2020 04:26 AM

I will be including a notebook with my center for everyone to add a little note about themselves, their inspiration for their border, maybe a photo, as a keepsake for myself. I picked it up at JoAnn for $2 in the clearance bin. I'm working on my notebook today to mail out with the center and the additional fabrics (to use or not use, that is the question LOL) Hugs all!

carriem 06-21-2020 04:43 AM

Rebaquilts--those are some great RR quilts...thanks for sharing, especially the stories behind them. Your center is beautiful. I like the lighter colors.

I too included a small notebook with my quilt. I love the idea of a picture (maybe of you holding the quilt?)...I can print if you want to email directly to me and add when the quilt top returns home. I went back and forth on how much fabric to send along, I decided just the remainder of the floral fabric I had, that will give you all in group #2 more options for choosing your own.

Have a blessed Sunday. I am going on about 5hrs of sleep so thinking a nap will be happening this afternoon!

travelinggramma 06-21-2020 05:33 AM

Jaba - I received your center. And with all my blues I will be visiting the Quilt stores this week! (like that is a problem!)

jaba 06-21-2020 05:55 AM

Sorry I had to give you an excuse :) Tell hubby it's all my fault! Those blues all came from a fat quarter bundle from Connecting Threads, except the batik, so I thought they would be easy to match. So much for my thinking.....

sewbizgirl 06-21-2020 08:58 AM

Love your feathery star center, Reba! I'll be the last to work on it.

Love seeing the previous RR quilts. Thanks for the pictures, Reba.

I've been playing with ideas for Givio's border. Lots of possibilities but they all seem so 'ho hum...' So I will keep thinking until something special jumps out at me.

sewbizgirl 06-21-2020 09:00 AM

So, Group 1, has everyone received a center? If not, be sure to communicate with your mailing partner to see if they are on track. If anyone has a delay for any reason, be sure to communicate with your mailing partner!

Looking forward to seeing your ideas.

Iceblossom 06-21-2020 09:09 AM

Wow ladies, I have been missing this thread.

I did send out a PM that I've been dealing with things in Seattle, some days better than others. This past week I wrenched my knee really badly. It's an old skiing accident but back in the 70s they didn't mess with knees. Think a scope and a scraping and I may be good as new but I'm hoping to last a couple more months before I do that.

It's been bad enough that I consider being able to make it to the bathroom and to my coffee and back without any drips of anything to be enough of a success to count.

Last I checked in, we were to mail out tomorrow and I am ready to do that. I haven't gone back through the thread to double check on the particulars. I may not be able to drive yet, but the hubby can get me to the post office in the afternoon. Will be doing that now.

I'm sorry I haven't been more active on the forum, but I did get my center done and I am so looking forward to this.

Bugaroo 06-21-2020 11:14 AM

Iceblossom -- I fell 2 years ago and tore my meniscus 2 two places. SO much pain! You have my sympathy and prayers for quick mending, which unfortunately involves surgery.

Rebaquilts... Love your center. Springy bright bu soft colors.. so pretty. And thanks for the examples... they really help so much.

Ladies, the notebook idea is wonderful. I would also like to do this with pictures please. Great way for a newbeeee to start out!

Just worked up my sauerkraut with hubbies help. Now ready to start thinking/sewing/quilting....

I am a dedicated lurker to this thread, and I love the blocks, but I am jealous of the kraut! I used to make it when we lived in the country, and it was so-o-o-o much better than the bought stuff....

givio 06-21-2020 02:44 PM

granky, I agree with that! My father-in-law used to always can sauerkraut in the fall. He got the whole family involved in the process. We always needed plenty extra for giving away, as people loved it.
My word, Reba! 'When it rains, it pours!' Thanks for all those posts!
SBG, thanks for your support.

Granky and Givo, we worked up 35 pounds of regular sauerkraut in a 20 liter crock and 20 pounds of a kimchi version in a 10 liter. Bugaroo sat under the table eating cabbage... he is a weird dog! Once when we were away for the day, he ate a 5 pound bag of potatoes!!!

I worked on my center today... it's a work in progress. I have some smaller flowers to add and then the green vines. What do ya'll think? This is also my first time appliqueing for a quilt.

christyj80590 06-21-2020 04:29 PM

Is it to late to sign up for this? I have not done one before but the Boom 24 swap and have talked about doing this type of thing before.

Thanks, Christy

carriem 06-21-2020 04:44 PM

Bugaroo--I'll pass on sauerkraut...but do like cabbage both raw and cooked. :) Our dogs love all veggies and fruits we'll give them. If you break two bananas apart they hear it and come running/sit pretty waiting for a bite. lol Your center is coming together! The bee is fun and the different colors of flowers will give everyone lots of options when they add their borders.

Christy...so far there have been 2 groups fill up. In the last few days I think there have been 3-4 others who have been bummed they missed out, you might go through the comments and see if you can get a group of 5-6 together...someone just has to be the "go to" person in the group (organize who sends to who, collect addresses, etc)...check with sewbizgirl to see if you can have the 3rd group in this thread too so we can all see each others centers grow. :)

LeeAnn 06-21-2020 06:22 PM

Please send me your address so I can mail tomorrow. I can't find it in the thread.
Also, I would appreciate it if you could post a picture of mine when you get it since
I had problems. Many blessings,
Lee Ann
