Organza.... another great idea. I think I need to invest in that stuff so I can do some shadow trapunto work and apparently, thread painting pretty things.

Do you have an embroidery machine? I don't remember ... but if you do, and you do embroidery on it, get a woodburning tool and then you can just melt the threads off the outside!

I have one of those melty gun things, not really a woodburning kit. I forgot I had it. Thanks for the idea. Does it turn the organza dark though? I will have to get it out and do a test.

Nope. Use a pointy tip, if you have it, and try not to touch the embroidery. It just burns it away. I have a piece of scrap wood just in case something falls off.

owlvamp 10-15-2012 02:38 PM

Beautiful ornaments.

lynnie 10-15-2012 02:50 PM

I cant wait till the next one. I found some more orgami,

Yep, mine has 3 or 4 different tips, one has a point. I may have gotten it just for this purpose, but I forgot I even have it. Am going to have to try it out. Thanks again.

Thank you SO MUCH Linda (LLDugas31) I LOVE the ornaments you sent. What makes them even more special to me is that it brings back memories of my mother doing this type of needle work! They will have a place of honor on my tree!

SallySaidSew 10-15-2012 03:26 PM

My 2 swap packages shipped from the post office this morning. One is going across the country almost and the other one is in staying in the Pacific Northwest area. Dang, this was fun to do once I figured out what I wanted to make. I think coming up with the idea was the hardest part!

elisabrat here's what I came up with so tell me if they will work for you. Want you to know when I was "stuffing " these today i thought, "yup, she's killin' 2 birds with 1 stone." You'll be able to make them one for Valentine's Day too if you get enough hearts. You can save these for then if you'd rather have all red or all white, I can do more for you.

owlvamp 10-15-2012 04:40 PM

Love your hearts.

I received a package from Darlene in Florida. I am not expecting one so I am thinking it must be my Christmas ornament. I wanted to let you know I received this today but didn't know whether I am suppose to open it yet or not?

brenda21 10-15-2012 05:16 PM

Yes, you can open it...and then post pix:thumbup:

Brenda, I am so sorry for your loss.....big hugs come to you from ME, your Canadian Friend

roseirish48 10-15-2012 08:51 PM

mailed one of my ornaments off today---would have mailed both but only had part of address so needed to rely on Brenda's help in getting full address. i apologize for my ornaments -i am not as talented in this arena as i might like to be in the artsy-craftsy field.
So sorry for your loss Brenda---what can one say? There are no words to ease the pain--to dull the ache--to fill the void. One can only go forward and let time scab over the wound left by the death of a loved one. They say it gets better in time--I'm still waiting.

I do not.. too poor.. hehe want one just to make the thingies I see you all make. But I saw a video that showed someone using a regular machine and some type of stabilizer and just "painting" with basically FMQ inside a design. I think they did a satin stitch on the outline and then just painted around on the inside.. they were using the wash away stabilizer but I always wondered what happens when that washes away, wouldn't the threads fall or something.. so organza would solve that problem.

nattoddboyd 10-16-2012 02:38 AM

Is it to late to sign up?

grann of 6 10-16-2012 03:30 AM

Anastasia, I used to applique designs on my kids clothes way back before there were fancy embroidery machines. I used to copy a design from a coloring book, cut out the pieces and zig zag them and then "thread paint" details. You can make cute ornaments this way, just adding felt or fabric for the backing, like I did with the cross-stitch ornaments. You can also stuff them. There are just so many things that can be done with a little imagination. You really don't need a fancy machine.

thomp116 10-16-2012 02:01 PM

OK, mine are in the mail. Wanted to go to the PO yesterday, but it was pouring so bad I figured one more day wouldn't hurt!

lauriejo 10-16-2012 02:23 PM

I'm still stitching on mine. I had to take a break for a couple days. My hands are really aching, and I had to wait for the headache to pass. I love cross stitch, but had to quit because it is so hard on my hands. I thought these small projects wouldn't be a problem.

My two partners are getting their ornies in the mail today so they will be flying home and outta here by 5 (slow mountain time flying). I sure wish I would make the time to copy each and everyone of the pretties I see here as I am guessing my ploy to get them all sent to me is not working. Sounds like sticky fingers wont work either your hanging on so darned tight sheesh let GO why dont ya? look! a puppy! (snap). bulging pockets nope no idea where your ornaments went.. that is so strange.

well you guys have a grand day. I am going to try to get stuff done this morning before I get super tired. lol better go feed the cats.
