ooo pretty snowflakes!

I double the heavy water soluable, make sure you are using a 90/14 sharp, then what thread are you using. I find that the rayon does that, but if you use a polyester embroidery thread, it works better.
Now you can use a 50wt cotton thread as well and put in both the top and bobbin. On occasion that happens to me, but since I have changed them up a bit and using the double water it works best. |
are you guys doing those on a normal machine or an embroidery machine? I saw some thread painting techniques using that water soluble stuff using a normal machine that I'm thinking about trying. :)
|
My Bernina is a normal sewing machine, just has the embroidery module to go with it so I am using a programmed design. I have used the water soluable, be sure to get the heavier stuff so it holds up so much better and you get stiffer ornaments, to do thread painting and it works wonderfully. I have done dragon flies with it and angels.

Thanks for the info! I appreciate it. Really.
And now.. for the final reveal, of my other ornament. Sadly neither of my swap people have commented so I don't know who prefers which, so I'll end up boxing them up and picking randomly and putting one of their names on it I guess. I'll give it a few days to see if they comment. |

Both are beautiful. I do not mind which one you send me.
We tend to have a scrappy tree. No theme, just ornaments that have been collected over the years. mt

Very nice, I love the snowflakes and the ornaments, both colors.
I am working on a few new ideas, now I need to find pipe cleaners! |
All the ornaments posted are great. I have two in the work. I just finished stitching little christmas trees on white felt and I need to figure a template for the bird shape. These ornaments are inspired from that dreadful pinterest site. Too many great ideas, not enough time!

Anastasia that looks like teal to me, it must be mine for sure!!!!! And Quiltermomma must be my other one with the gray -silver colored snowflakes, yippee, they will look so good together. Just perfect.
Jennifer is that your little baby sitting on your lap? Very cute. |

I love the snowflakes. I could put a whole row up in the front window from red ribbon.. I bought some little doilies this year at the thrift store to dip in modge podge to harden them so I can hang them like snowflakes after I dust them with opal glitter ala martha stewart. I love snowflakes and red hearts.. so pretty in the window. I will take six please. I bet those use up tons of your thread. Are you selling them at your show? or are they for your ornament swapper?

Okay, here are the cross-stitch ornaments finished:

Those are beautiful! I love cross stitch, although I don't do it anymore. Not enough time for everything!
|
Happy Tails,
Very pretty! I think anyone would be happy to receive one of those! |
Very cute stockings!
|
Ooh, those snowflakes are really pretty! I'm afraid what I'm making is going to disappoint someone. Does anyone like primitive style ornies?
|
Anastasia,
I love both ornaments, but if I had to choose, I'd take the teal one! |

Happy tails and grann of 6 they are soooo cute and terriquilt I think primitive is nice on the tree.
|
I love all the ornaments everyone is posting. My cross-stitch is done on the embroidery machine; arthritis prevents me from doing handwork anymore. Since I live near Amish country in PA, there are lots of primitive ornaments around. DIL loves primitive snowmen and has her house decorated in the primitive style.

Those are cool Grann 6, much different from mine. Love the thread ornaments from above, those are sure pretty as well. I got mine all rinsed out and flattened. They are still drying. I sold a set of six which makes me thrilled. I bet if I put that glitter on them while they are drying, that would even spark them up more because of the glue residue in them. Also, I don't have my angels all done, but they are stitched out. Have to decide which ones to send and how many of them. Wonder if my receiviers have a special color. Hmmm, have to double check thru the thread to see.
Yep Elizabrat, I am selling them. have to earn money to go to Montana for Thanksgiving. It is my daughters birthday on the 22nd of November which once every 8 years, her birthday lands on the same day. It is her birthday wish to be in Montana for the holiday so working towards that. Actually, they do not take all that much thread and when you are using the 50wt cotton thread, it is not bad. It just takes 45 minutes to stitch them out and the stabilizer is the more expensive part. never knew glue could cost so much when it is laid out in a roll. LOL) Yep, I did a purple one to just see how it looked and daughter wants that orange one, her favorite color. |
The gold thread on the angels is from Superior. I picked it up on sale last year from their website. It is a sliver gold metallic and it stitches so perfect. I tried to use the other metallic I have and it is miserable. I was so shocked. It shines so pretty. I am hoping tonight (inbetween quilting group, tomatoes, and stitching them out) that I get to finish the angels. I would love to get mine in the mail in the next couple days so I don't have this committment staring at me. I love this swap, I just get to stressing over time with so much to do and so little time to do it in. Yep, I am OCD and love it.

I had no idea that you could do cross stitch on a machine!!!!
