Chasing Hawk, so glad you like them! I just downloaded my pictures, so I can post...I love mine too...it is so pretty! Thanks again.
I had the perfect pins to go in it and the perfect project to work on using my new pincushion. I have probably bought 5 boxes of these pearlized pins. The pkg I bought for the eyes on the owls I made to give away {50+ owls} was the only pkg with the light pink color.

How cute is that donut pincushion. And, HisPatch, what a darling bag. Did you make that for someone? :-D

Thanks, I made the bag for a friend. She was going to buy a tote bag and ask me to embroider a name. I talked her into letting me make the bag. She is giving it to an 8 yr old relative of hers. It turned out nice...I loved the pink. I used the bow tuck pattern with some adjustments.

My swap partner and I have ESP. Just as I was getting on the site to let her know that I am mailing hers tomorrow, she had a pm that she is mailing mine tomorrow, also. That is just too freaky!! I guess quilters do think alot alike. Hope it makes a safe trip and not get snowbound somewhere. I snow is done for a week. Then more predicted.

I want to wish all my quilting sisters a very Happy New Year!!

This was easy - 4 or more graded sizes of circles cut from variety of green fabric. Do running stitch 1/4" from edge to form a loose yo-yo and stuff each section. Use embroidery thread to loop around creating 4 divided sections. Stack and stitch together. Add a bell or star to top and glue to a base wide enough and heavy enough to hold tree. Moosegirl

Thanks for the info.....looking for greens now.....

Shawnemily, thank you so much for the pincushion and other surprises. Love them all, and they arrived at a time when I needed a pick me up, so thank you. Will post pics when camera and computer decide to communicate.

For all you pincushion aficionados, I made a pin cushion with a thread catcher for myself but want to do one that has the plastic ring to hold it open. Please help my feeble mind find the plastic you put into it.

Clear as mud?

Thanks!
Suzanne

Just make a casing around the top of the thread catcher and slip a 3/8" piece of firm plastic into the casing. Could use template plastic or a piece of a whipped topping bowl, etc.

I just use the strapping that comes on boxes. The furniture store was glad to give me some also got some from local Hardware store they just consider it garbage! Works like a charm!

So glad you like them. Cupcakes are so easy to make. The hardest part is finding the silicone bases.

Several people have asked if I plan on another pincushion swap soon. I am going to be very busy with my quilt guild's quilt show and I do not want to spread myself to thin so I am going to take time out until after the show in May. If anyone out there is interested in taking over it will be great so those who still want to swap pincushions will have the opportunity. I will be glad to tell you what I did to get the swap organized, just send me a pm. Thanks everyone who have participated in the four swaps. I think everyone have made new friends and received some very special pincushions.

lindyline 01-12-2011 12:06 AM

Barb, thank you for hosting these swaps so far, and look forward to you coming back after May. Have a wonderful time with your guild. Unfortunately there's too much going on over here,so I'm unable to offer to do this.

pattis47 01-12-2011 04:03 PM

When I heard the news about the weather, I thought of you. Hope you and yours are all safe. We will certainly keep you in our prayers.

Thanks, but here in Melbourne we're about 300 miles from the floods in Horsham.Near South Australian border. The really bad Qld/NSW floods are over 700 miles away or more.

pattis47 01-12-2011 08:25 PM

That is good to hear, that you are safe and far away from the havoc. Hopefully, the worst is over and sanity will return quickly. Unfortunately, it will take years to clean up and rebuild as evicenced by Katrina in New Orleans, Louisiana

Latest Victorian update, more floods closer to MElbourne, but not too bad just yet. Hopefully the rain will ease and things will subside.
