About 5 minutes after I made the suggestion about June roses this popped up on my FB feed. There is a pdf on line for the free pattern if you are interested. I would link it but don't have the skill to send pdfs. If anyone can find and post it that would be cool. It went together real fast and, imho, looks cool.
It would look better with more mottled fabrics but I don't have any of that style. I think what I did works okay. Rosebud Quilters Newsletter Magazine; Dec/ Jan 2013. peace |
I might have figured this out. I hope it works for anyone who likes this quick pattern.

Oh my Ube another beautiful runner. I think this one has my name on it. lol.
Ube I tried the link and it works, I was able to find some other free patterns also, Thank You for sharing.
Glad to share my love of roses. The rosebud pattern went together fast. I would put on a go to list for presents when needed in a hurry.
Kinda quiet on here . Everyone must be working on their runners.

Here is what distracts me from my studio. This Beauty was admiring himself in the garage door window. He must have been there for at least an hour strutting his stuff.
and here is a little Wood Frog saved from the lawn mower. I posted it in the wall hanging swap also. peace |
The Toms are a strutting around here also. "Love is in the air".....lol. Nice pictures. thanks for posting them.
Have a choice of runners done lawsonmugs for this swap but I've been busy sewing. A spiral table runner for a lady and 2 graduation quilts. I've been having a sewing marathon for the last few days at my house :)
Need to take a pic of the runners and perhaps get an idea of what my future partner would like. Love to get those hints if her profile is not filled out. Always nice to send a color that they like:) if at all possible. |
Oh Jaba,I would love to see a picture. I been working on some quick projects for a friend that wanted things to put in her small gift and thrift store. She is hoping to open it within the month. It will be in a small town near me.
Ube, I love your turkey. We had a pet one when Our kids were teenagers and my son would hold him on his arm (like a kestrel) when he was half grown. He needed his other arm to help support the arm with the turkey on it. And together they would hunt flies on the wall!. When he was full grown, he would still let us pick him up and carry him around, and NO he died of old age.
and now winter is near, our frogs are courting in my garden pond too. |

Lawsonmugs, don't know if these are quick but this is what I have been making this week. The WWU blue quilt is on the quilting table as we speak. The green one the grad is going to Michigan State. The runners just doing 1 for a lady and the others for a pick to send for the runner swap :)As you can see, I still need to sew some binding....
Jaba they are all beautiful. I fell in love with each of them!
Jaba those are beautiful. I never have tried bringing the fabric up from the back to make binding. . I take it that is the backing. I wanted to try it ,but I never have. I also wanted to see one of those spirals in progress. Thanks for the pictures. Simply gorgeous.
oh my goodness Jaba! Beautiful runners! What is that swirly one called?
will check back in a few days - off to the parts store tomorrow to get my new knee! Thank goodness the day is finally here! Will chat will everyone soon! |
Oh My Sue, Good luck and I hope everything turns out well for you. See if you can get me some younger parts too. LOL Hugs Mary.
Jaba, I love the purple runner!!! My favorite color!
That is quite a show jaba. My eye went straight to the lavender runner. Perfect for summer and one of my favorite scents.
Northern Sue, take care and heal fast. peace |
I really want to join in this one but I'm not going to commit until I have something finished. Too many things got in the way last time.
Oh Karen hope you make it this time. Glad to see ya again though. Hugs Mary
Northern Sue hope all goes well with your knee surgery, Jaba you do beautiful work I love it all.
Thank you all for the nice compliments! Mary it is regular binding, sewn on the front. I have to turn it to the back and then hand sew. Just didn't have it done yet:) Looks a little different with the "curl" to it, probably because it is done on the bias. Much easier to turn for the round corners.
The runner is called "Spicy Spiral" and I used a 10 degree angle ruler on these. |
Hope all goes well with your knee sue. And I am going to challenge myself to do a spiral one too. Do I need a patter or just cut out on a 10 degree angle ? Better still watch a tutorial on utube
You need a pattern to follow for the length of the strips and how wide to cut each one. This isn't a regular angle ruler, it's 25" long and divided into 1/4" segments. You might want to google it and to make one a little smaller you can use a 9 degree ruler also.
Thanks jaba I will do that

I would like to use these fabrics in a table runner. Does anyone have a problem with the plain bright red? It would only be a little bit of red. If so, I might be able to find a darker red. The third color is an off white. Please give me your opinions. Thanks!

Klaws, Love your fabrics. The addition of a soft white will have a nice crisp look. See that little bit of blue/ violet in the leaves. Some of that tone would be a pretty addition too. Just a thought. What pattern are these pretties going to find a place in?:D peace |

Love your ideas übe colours reflect a mood and summer colours are bright and happy colours.even summer moonlight and starry starry nights would look good.
How about fireflies in jars! |
I have three runners pieced and sandwiched for finishing. I'll post pics when I done and let folks pick which they would like. I fell in love with the Triangle Frenzy pattern and have made three so far. Two for possible pick on this swap and one Spicy Spiral, which is my all time favourite pattern, although the Triangle Frenzy might replace it as it makes up so much faster.
