Just a couple of things that need a little work before the next Boom. I'm not naming names but I need everyone who is considering joining boom 19 in a few months to consider the following:
Part of good block construction means 1/4 inch seams and a stitch length of about 12 per inch. Each person is different so some variation is to be expected. Some blocks have been made with what amounts to a basting stitch, as few as 6 stitches per inch. Those blocks are in danger of coming apart so make sure for the future that you shorten up that stitch length. If at this very second you don't know what your stitch length is you need to find out. Pull out two pieces of fabric, sew them together as if you were piecing a block then put a ruler next to them and see how many stitches are in an inch. If it's under 10, it's too few. Shorten them up for the Boom swaps. And watch those seams, too. One quarter inch on ALL seams please; yes, even the diagonals like HSTs. (If you are concerned your HSTs will be too small, make them a bit larger with one quarter seams and then cut them down to the needed size.) If you are one who likes to use a scant one quarter, that does NOT mean one-eighth or one-sixteenth. It means a few threads short of one quarter. Please be careful! I would love for every block made to be usable. I'm sure that's what you all want, too. |

I'm back in Wyoming for the summer and I know that I have missed some of the postings. Trying to get my internet up and running again and seems to be a big problem for Century. Wish I had my own cell tower:) very frustrating today for sure! I had to call them 6 times and internet is still on and off. Sorry ladies, the blocks I have seen look fabulous and I love them, excited to get them back and start playing.
