My poor Marty acts the same way. He's terrified of any weather noise from the sky, and also gunshots and fireworks. A friend who has a dog with the same fears said her dog will hyperventilate until they pass completely out! Maybe that's merciful... I don't know. My pup drools and shakes. We bought him a "thunder shirt", but it only helps a little.

I hope not, GramE! The quilting feet for my machine are $50 each (even the plastic one!) and I'd hate to have to replace them. Hope your foot turns up.

I looked it up and I think it’s less than $10. But I need to check with the model #. But you know if I buy one, the day after it comes, the old one will drop from the ceiling!

I got the crafting bug from my mom although she was not a sewer. I really love the boom swaps and all the boom sisters. Everyone is like family. I especially want to thank our fearless leader who puts up with all of our different personalities and does an excellent job hosting this swap! <3

what kind of soft sculpture dolls Karen? I just tried my hand at a Waldorf inspired doll. Unfortunately the pattern I used is a little whacked , so now her arms and legs look unusually long.

great fabric! I really love the first one. I had some from this line I think, but must have used it up already as I don’t see it in my stash anymore.

I had collected enough credit hours in all these fields over a lifetime and working in various nursing home for the majority of the time. I ventured out a few times from the nursing homes and loved doing so many thing with Senior Center and in Community development groups. I also did grant writing for both nursing homes and Community centers. My career was cut short in my late 30's because of severe asthma and a hereditary illness. I continue to help where ever I can as a volunteer for senior issues. I am a lot slower than I use to be and rarely mention my credentials anymore or my educational background. I do not want to be taken advantage of where I get stressed out. Even in my quilt guild I have not mentioned my background (especially in activities). I have taken on with another woman our educational programing and will lay low while accomplishing our goals.

Your work with older adult is greatly appreciated even when now we may be considered older adults. Thank you.
I am still sought out for advice on many topics and have been asked to come back even part time to help in many areas. At first, and for many years, I thought I would someday be able to return to work. As the years went forward I realized I could not return to work if for no other reason that I was a fall risk. I love it though when someone I knew years ago still calls and ask how to help another senior to get a particular service that person may need. Thank you again.\

i worked at senior and disability services until I became disabled myself. My degree is in social work as well, msw. Tried my hand at grant writing etc. it’s certainly a world unto itself!

Hi ladies, sorry I have been MIA. Family issues that needed taken care of. I had to go out of town and did not have time to take my computer. Let me just say Mental Illness is nothing to mess with.

Now on to Boom Business: Janice I just responded to your email. Sorry, I got it and read it at that time, not sure why I did not respond at that time, <:)(that is supposed to be a goofy face)

now about myself, 2nd marrage, (met him computer dating) I have one step daughter who is a college senior and an angel in heaven, Justin. I started quilting 20 years ago and I love scrappy quilting. I have two German Shephard fur babies. I also do knitting and crochet. I love to read and I am a Harry Potter Fanatic.

GramE you would love it here today. Yesterday we had bad storms, several tornadoes touched down way to close to for comfort but they brought a cold wave. Sitting here drinking my coffee with windows wide open in fleece sweater and fleece blankets on my legs. Hoping the wind dries out our deck, hoping to stain it today.

PamelaOry, this is just one of the many dolls I made. I entered a contest and she was "Miss April" on a calendar that was printed by a company who sold doll supplies.

Good morning, Night Owls! I spent a good portion of my weekend actually quilting a piece. I've got another 8 hours at least...I'm pretty slow, even in QAYG.

I'm expecting 6 more packages in today so tomorrow I'll post updates of who's sent what. Please keep in mind that all F8s are due in my hands on August 8 so please ship at least 3 days before that in order to give them the chance to arrive on time. Thanks!

Terriamn, this pattern is perfect for the annual 2 1/2 birthday candy swap I'm in. I've got thousands of candy squares waiting in the wings to be made into a real quilt. This is another good idea for me and it would work up to be a 10 inch square using what I have. Thanks for sharing.

IrishMom, love your Christmas fabric choices. And I'm certain you aren't the only one who has chosen one set of fabrics only to change their mind. And change it again. It happens!

Yes. Yes, I did. :D

Juliasb, many of us post our requests here but they will be with each packet as well. Whatever you do, don't open too many packages at once! Everyone should have their name on their request and you can always refer to the gallery, the fabrics page, which shows the f8s and who it belongs to. If you think you've mixed something up, just pm the owner and ask. If you don't understand a request, ask the owner. I do ask that everyone follow requests as often as possible so when in doubt, please reach out to the owner, or you can email me or post here. Much better than just guessing. As for remaking a block, you can take it apart carefully and remake it with different colors. We've probably all had to to it, at least partially at one time or another. I know I have a number of times.

I know I will be ok making different blocks I just hope I can keep straight what everyone is hoping to see in the blocks I will be making. When I sent out my fabrics I only wrote 2 words on each one. I hope people can read my writing and read my mind -:). What is I get something mixed up can I remake a block?

Exactly as SBG says... I'd also add to be careful about cutting. You may have enough fabric in an F8 for the block you chose to make if you cut the pieces out one way, but not enough if you cut them out another. Plan your cutting if you aren't familiar with working with small pieces. An f8 isn't that large.

Just work on one block at a time... and read plus re-read the notes they include. Some are very specific and others just say, “have fun!” If you aren’t sure, ask the fabric owner. If you aren’t sure about the block, do a ‘trial run’ with your own fabrics first. After all that, you shouldn’t need to remake a block.

Lstew2212, just glad to hear from you. I hope the family issues can be resolved.

We're back to our warmer weather but it's still bearable.. August isn't yet upon us so the worst is definitely yet to come.

I am Kathy and I think this is my 6th or 7th BOOM Swap. I am married and between us we have 5 kids. I have 4 sons and have a daughter-by-choice. My eldest has two sons, Hyde and Hendrix. I work full time as a financial analyst on transportation policy for the state of California. I love to paper craft, sew, and quilt. I sew every morning for 1.5 hours before work.

I picked this vintage White Dressmaster last week and did some magic on the case this weekend. After I was done, I whipped up my grandson's these cars outfits.
