lol you were posting pics as I was writing. Now, I need to know what that pattern is on the upper right hand of the bottom group of pictures. It looks like the star is entwined.

August 23, 2010 – Freedom Star Block #33 – Birthday Star Block

This is the first paper pieced project I have ever tried. It was harder than I thought it would be and I learned you really have to continue past the printed lines in some spots but NOT in others, lol. I was amazed it turned out so well.

Moon, do you know what the name of that block is in the military group, top right? Its fascinating!! I REALLY want to see the finished quilt! My twin brother did 26 years in the Navy so I know how hard it is to have them gone. You should definately make "family" t-shirts with that design for all your family!

With the beautiful blocks you do, this will just add more to your collection. I watched several you tube videos and read and reread the tutorials on QB until I decided I needed "hands on" trial. Later I found out I tried a "hard" one for the first attempt...now they tell me, lol.

It is in 1/4 sections. The first section I did by itself and then the other 3 I did as a "chain" process, doing each step on all 3 blocks at once. It seemed easier that way. I'm sure you'd do it in a cinch.

I listened to a tutorial today on paper piecing but I just dont get it. Ill have to go to the quilt shop uptown and talk to Karen....she does paper piecing. I really do like that block...Thanks for the support! Wish I had that confidence! haha

It's a super neat embrodiery design. DH said he'd love to have that on a shirt or 2 for us....now that is a real compliment :P

So glad you like it! The design was free from sewforum, so if you have an embroidery machine, or a friend with one, you can download the design here:
