OK I am going to get some sewing done today for me! Yippie. I finished my Customers quilt yesterday, a full week early. I am so excited for her. She had me make a quilt for her grandson, who recently lost his dog. so I made a Traditional quilt with a center square Is a picture of him with his dog. I will post a picture of it after I deliver.

Sooooo, or in my case, sew... what do I do, I told my husband the squishes are calling me! I am never up this early, maybe I better practice first, make sure I am fully awake.

Have a wonderful day Ladies~

Hello my fellow Boom Swappers,
I do not normally do this but I have a very special request. Most of you know my story and all that I have gone through over the last few years. It appears my surgery in January has definitely made things better for me and for that I am eternally grateful. I think it was just in the nick of time too because if I still felt so awful I would not be able to handle the latest news I received. I do not want to go in to details here on the board but I am asking this as a favor for my Izabella. Many of you have watched her grow up here on the QB through my pictures and my avatar changing every so often with a new one of the love of my life. She now has a very tough road ahead of her and her father and I will be here to support her in every way possible as will her grandparents and other relatives. What I am asking is this. Would any of you be willing to make a block for her if I send you an F8? I will gladly make a block in return if you send me fabric. Her favorite color is blue. I know when I was having my troubles my hug quilt and the love from everyone here made such a difference for me. I am hoping I can do the same for her with the help of all of the wonderful friends I have made in the Boom swap.
No one is obligated to do this nor do you have to feel like you must. This is strictly volunteer basis and I will make one for you in return. Please send me a PM if you would like to exchange a block with me for Izabella.
Huge Hugs
April

I have been making a Braid all in blues, just to keep busy. I'd love to send it to you. You can use it in any way.
Do not make me anything in return! Just give your little girl an extra hug!

Oh Dotty! Thank you ever so much. This is such a wonderful and generous gift. Perhaps I can use it as a border and continue it and make the other sides as well. Thank you again from the bottom of my heart. Izabella will get lots of hugs from you I promise :) She loves getting the box tops from "my Quilting Board friend Dotty" as she likes to say, so this will tickle her immensely!
Huge Hugs

calquilter 03-22-2012 08:43 PM

I'm so confused! I received a F8 from Linda D aka LJDugas 31, but her name is not on my spreadsheet. I double checked twice, did I miss something? If so, I will need to send you a F8. I have received all my 8s except from Mary C and Sharon B.

Linda was the extra name added after the lists came out. She was the 17 name so we would have 16 blocks. If you did not send her a F8, you may need to do that. April PM her address to us.

Have a good day.

Phannie

calquilter 03-23-2012 07:00 AM

Thanks Phannie! I have her address from her return address label, so I will send her a F8.

Ethical Question Fellow Quilters:
I usually toss my envelopes w 2 stamps in the mailbox but today I went to the post office.
I had to mail to Canada & do the Customs forms.
Then I handed 6 envelopes with blocks inside to the postal clerk.
She asked me if I was mailing anything dangerous. I said, "just fabric."
She then charged me $1.95 for each because fabric makes it a "package", not a "letter".
I checked with the postmaster & he said those are the rules.
I usually follow the rules, but all my other blocks had 2 stamps & I mailed them that way.
So are we cheating the USPS?

sharon b 03-23-2012 08:52 AM

Mine didn't even ask what was inside - so I don't feel bad not adding extra postage and didn't have to fill out a customs form for Canada either... hhhmmm

MaggieBB 03-23-2012 10:04 AM

when I took my f8's to the post office the clerk dodn't ask any questions, just checked the weight and sold me the forever stamps. when I took my blocks to a different post office the clerk asked me what was in the envelopes, I told him fabric he said it would be .65 each. I used legal white envelpes and folded the blocks a little smaller than the envelope.

marytoddliz 03-23-2012 01:00 PM

I have been mailing fabric for a long time and the PO knows it is fabric and they don't charge me a package rate! If you live close enough to a different post office go there. If not just keep putting them in the bin. I think a slip of fabric is not a package. Send me a letter with it, if it make you feel better.. I did get a F8 wrapped in paper before it was put in plastic wrap and I had a hard time telling that it was a squishy. Can't remember who sent it off hand but I think I might send my fabric out that way next time.

dotcomdtcm 03-23-2012 01:21 PM

I just packed 5 blocks & I'm putting them in the mail bin with 2 stamps each. I have not received any fabric with $1.95 postage! Lesson learned!

sharon b 03-23-2012 01:27 PM

This time I put a short note in the envelope- but the best thing I learned last time was the Press and Seal wrap Boy did that save me money :) you can get the fabric really nice and flat :)

maebe42 03-23-2012 01:27 PM

I received from calquilter and wendsy today.

wendsy 03-23-2012 02:09 PM

Received CalQuilter's F8 today, hoping to get some done this weekend.

oma7 03-23-2012 04:30 PM

I only pay 65 cents at my post office. They always ask me what is in it and I say only fabric and they charge me only the 65 cents. As a matter of fact the lady at the post office asks me about the blocks. I have explained the whole thing to her. I also told her that I would show her some of the blocks next time. Next time don't tell them its fabric!

marytoddliz 03-23-2012 05:10 PM

I am falling behind on my posting! I received 3 F8's from; linnaete, tumrub, Wendsy. I thought I posted a message last night but today I can't find it!

I am working on some blocks should have several to mail out tomorrow. Pictures are posted to my Album, so don't look if you want a surprise.

It is amazing how fast we have been going in here! I think that we will be done long before July!

sharon b 03-23-2012 05:20 PM

I think we were all excited to start :) I have all my fabrics but the one from Canada- got Calquilters today in the mail :) Can't believe how fast they are coming in

Difergie 03-23-2012 05:23 PM

I think it would be awesome to post our finished tops by July....
