I mailed three blocks home today. Dotty, Lori and Cathy. I hope you all like your blocks. More block making on Monday, I am taking tomorrow off to hang with my hunny.

I am starting on my niece's wedding dress on Monday too. So when I get frustrated or tired working with Satin I will fill in my time with making some blocks. I actually asked her if she wanted a quilted wedding dress, That idea did not go over very well. It is supposed to snow again tomorrow. Dang if it isn't supposed to be spring!

marytoddliz 03-24-2012 07:25 PM

LOL, we must shop in the same stores! Any more I get most of my fabric on line, saves gas Money I actually mailed it today so you should get it soon!

Then you have not gotten mine yet. Our postmaster charged $1.95 each.

calquilter and Ok Darla, your f8s came over the weekend. They were waiting in the box when we got home. So all of them are here. Now to sew!!!

dotcomdtcm 03-25-2012 07:23 PM

Quilt Mom : I got yours & it is booming back to you! I did not notice $1.95. I hope our business keeps the smaller post offices open, and certainly on Saturdays.

LovingIzabella 03-26-2012 06:57 AM

Okay everyone
Just my usual friendly reminder :) I was working on blocks this weekend and even though I measured and squared I had a block come out the wrong size so back to the drawing board I went. It is very important that we check our block size before mailing it home. They should be 12.5". One of the best rulers one can have if they are in the boom swap is the 12.5" square. It is one of my best friends lol.
So again I ask just to please make sure you measure your blocks before sending them home. We want to make sure everyone can use their blocks.
Huge Hugs

linnaete 03-26-2012 01:28 PM

What is the best way to mail back blocks? This is my first swap and I'm not sure if I should try to put it in a regular envelope or something bigger? Thanks!

sharon b 03-26-2012 01:36 PM

I am wondering if when mailing you are asking for tracking or delivery confirmation ? That may be why you have to pay a higher postage rate- you can't get delivery confirmation on a regular letter.

marytoddliz 03-26-2012 01:55 PM

Really it depends on how many seams you have. If you don't have very many than a legal envelope wiill work fine. I use a manila envelope 6X 9 I get them at the dollar store 6 in a package for 99cents. take off the metal clasp as they will charge more for that. I buy cling wrap at the dollar store, not really good for food but good for pushing all the air out of your squishy and protecting it if they get caught in the machine... I also put a piece of packing tape (I also get it at dollar store, the tricky part of the tape you get at Dollar store is to keep the end together with a small piece of paper on the sticky side of the end) I put a 65 cent stamp on the blocks going home and never have a problem...

I let my PO train me into how they like to see my squishy's treated. Makes my life easier, the first year I lived up here we always battled, they usually won, so for me it was just easier. I hope this helps!

marytoddliz 03-27-2012 04:11 PM

I received Fabric from OKdarla today, not usre which group, you are in both of mine. I love the cowboy print, it is so cute.

I sent blocks home to:ljdugas31 linnaete, Linda, both blocks are in same envelope. I hope you like them! I have uploaded my pictures in my album. I am working on my forest blocks and my Halloween blocks today! We went shopping for fabric, i got so awesome FQ's that will make great trees!

I finished cutting out my niece's wedding dress this morning. I am a little nervous about it. I haven't worked with heavy Brocade Satin in a long time! I really don't want to make a mistake, it could get expensive. So I am taking baby steps. The wedding is May 11th and I have a fear that my bride is going to gain or lose weight! Any Seamstresses nightmare!

OK back to my Enchanted Forest blocks~

calquilter, your block is on its way, mailed it this morning, went to postoffice as i ran out of stames, when I handed it to the clerk he said one stamp would be enough, guess it really does depend on how many seams you have!

oma7 03-28-2012 11:15 AM
