Good, I've got lots of gold that should play real nice with some of those fabrics. Not too much red in my stash which as it turns out - is a good thing.

jaba 08-22-2012 03:35 PM

So glad Anastasia fabric is okay. Thanks for letting me know you received it, looking forward to it's return.

Anastasia 08-22-2012 03:41 PM

Elisabrat 08-22-2012 03:51 PM

charlottemarie 08-22-2012 04:09 PM

Just in case you didn't see it, I received your F8 today, Jaba.

Anastasia 08-22-2012 04:31 PM

Elisabrat.. since i"m only going to be 32 your buttering up doesn't work.. I'm apparently one of the babies of the bunch around here :)

DogHouseMom 08-22-2012 04:48 PM

Ok ... I've photographed Moonie's lady bugs with the envelope and the note - will keep that in my Rubyboomboom folder on my PC.

Scoured my stash including scraps and pulled several fabrics that would work. Got lots of tonals and some colors with small white print.

Perused Quilter's Cache and narrowed it down to about 30 blocks - ha ha ha ha ha!!

I'm doing what I do with all my quilts ... I lay all the fabric on my cutting table where it can be seen from the hallway as I pass it (it's directly across from the bath, and on my way to the bedroom - so I'm in the hall a LOT). I'll keep looking at it in different lights and wait for the light bulb to go off.

Now I'm heading out to a neighbors to watch him feed the giant catfish in his pond. Something different.

jaba 08-22-2012 04:58 PM

Seen it thanks. Everyone should be getting mine in the USA, mailed all Monday, but guess it takes longer going out of this wee little town I call home. Giant catfish, wow, mine just has Koi like 5-6" long maybe 7". Raised them from about 1 1/2" though, so I love it. Not for sure if it's just them or the sound of the water. I need to come back in my second life as a mermaid or something...fish okay if I don't get caught or they can take me home to a pond and baby me. aaahhhh what a life!

DogHouseMom 08-22-2012 04:59 PM

Anastasia ... I've got a big ol empty space in my fridge that says "place cake here".

Wanna help?

Anastasia 08-22-2012 05:14 PM

Sure! wanna try the chicken salad I just made a huge batch of as well?

Not a big fan of chicken salad ... unless it's the kind with celery, cranberries, and walnuts!!

Anastasia 08-22-2012 05:36 PM

Want to share? I like Chocolate.

travelinggramma 08-22-2012 05:43 PM

I just checked and my post must have gone to cyberspace! I received Elisabrat's peachy fruit cocktail and have already found some perfect matching fabric - now to find the perfect pattern!
But first - I will take a piece of the cake - someone must love you very very much to make that......did I mention my birthday is next week....and that I love chocolate????

Phannie1 08-22-2012 05:59 PM

Okay ladies,

I have my fabric washed and envelopes bought. I just have to cut and stuff and address and mail. My plan is to have them in the mail Saturday morning. I am looking forward to getting my first squishy.

Found out yesterday that I have torn my rotator cuff. been fighting a pain in my shoulder for about 6 months. now I know. Had a cortazone shot put in. The doctor said no "quilting" for 3 weeks but sewing small things was ok. Just not too heavy items. Then we will see what we will do. Bummer.

I need some chocolate Cake!

Phannie

Black would work too. But red would be brighter. What do you think? A few would do better if they were "fussy cut" to show the nice geisha etc.

I love these asian fabrics! I have so many idea's. Do you mind applique or would you prefer pieced?

Awwww You get cake. I know that pain.

DogHouseMom 08-22-2012 06:34 PM

Anastasia ... you had better keep the chicken salad - I just gained 5 lbs LOOKING at that cake!!

Phannie ... oh no! I've never torn a rotator cuff but lived with a brother, father, and husband who have and I don't know what is worse - having the injury or living with MEN who have had the injury.

Oh I love appliqué. I may do some machine embroidery on some of the blocks that I will do. Depending on the fabric etc.

jaba 08-23-2012 08:22 AM

Between rubies and diamonds my po box was full. Got F8's today from charlottemarie, elisabrat, savannarandoms, and travelinggramma. Family coming in today and will be here until Sunday so I don't know how much time I will get but will let you know when they're in the mail.

nygal 08-23-2012 11:29 AM

My mail box was mighty full today!! I received envelopes from: Elisabrat, jaba, moonwork and travelinggramma

I will begin working on them this weekend.

moonwork42029 08-23-2012 11:47 AM

Generally you KEEP the scraps unless the sender has specifically asked to have them back because they are running short for their project. That is just one of the great ways to share fabrics :).

Me, though, I usually don't have any scraps left it seems with the blocks I have made in the past. In fact sometimes I have to squeeeeeeeeeze it so I had enough. I try to send a little extra in my f8 so you can have a bug or too extra :).

Hoping I have some squishies in my mailbox tonight....tapping fingers waiting.

Anastasia 08-23-2012 01:54 PM

omg my box was crawling with ladybugs... EVERYWHERE.. I think I need to give them some flowers to play on....

DogHouseMom 08-23-2012 02:51 PM

Good day at the mailbox today, husband is wondering why I'm getting so much mail, and why all my mail is squishy. I told him "If I told you I'd have to kill you".

Received today

Elisabrat's Peach Cocktail
Jaba's Beige with green leaf (very pretty - very much my style!)
Travelinggramma's Red/White/Blue
OKDarla's Blue leaves (yes I have tons of Kona black!)

And I had received Moonwork's F8 yesterday

So I've got 1/3 of my fats so far!!

DogHouseMom 08-23-2012 03:09 PM

Off topic ....

Happy Birthday to Ruby boomer Buddy's Mom and a huge congratulations on her recent quilt expo with 3 blue ribbons, a best in show, a viewers choice, and ... oh another award I forgot (sorry!)!!

We have a STAR in our midst.

Phannie1 08-23-2012 03:17 PM

Squishes, Squishes.. and more Squishes. I will be up stairs tonight. I got them from: Elisabrat, jaba, moonwork and travelinggramma. Love them all......

Elisabrat 08-23-2012 04:38 PM

lets see starting here and working backwards the band is starting up.. ta da da da da da dadaaaa da ta da daaaa da daaaa da da daaaaaaaa da (this is for buddys mom wow all over the place accidents happen going to accidentally send her about ten fat quarters to play with plus a few ufos with postage paid envelopes think the hint will be taken?)

that cake has ZERO calories and hey how come I wasnt invited to share just because I accidentally happened to find your ice box? its apparent I am accident prone and you cant get mad over that.. love chicken salad, allergic to walnuts so eat those and save me the rest.. and for me, calories are a non issue thing.. I can never eat the amount I have to in one day.. frustrates me to no end. I cant figure out how to eat 2k calories and not flop over from way too muchitus.. not happening. Same with 75 PLUS grams of protein, keep dreaming baby cakes, even an egg has only 5 grams do you have any idea how many eggs that is? or gross burgers? five gross big old burgers to hit the target of 100 per day.. sure uh huh. deal here: you guys chow down and count the grams let me know then I can say yes yes I did vicariously maybe but I did. Wonder if they will buy it?

April here I have been wandering around forgetting my own tail end and it is tied on tyvery much and there you are the keeper of the marbles. All rolling around in your head huh? AHAH! send them back right now. Seriously, please send them back I need a few. no noise at all inside big old whoosh sounds.. light are on.. helloooo helloooo

ok rubies fellow baubles of mine guess what! let me guess for you.. WHAT? ok since you ask.. mail box had suprises in it today!!! here it goes:

Charolette Marie - frogs and purple for the diamond group/ruby group received
jaba - pretty berries and other fab for diamonds and rubies
moonworks - lady bugs
travelinggramma - red for americana quilt received

so four not bad at all .. numbered randomly in with the others received for the other group. Think they will be done when they are done at this point. I have only 50 something to do, mailed back.. three so far. No problem keeping up at all (roll your eyes I am).

If you didnt give a special request in writing please PM me and I will write it down before I forgot it which is a good shot to happen. Noted sent, received sent etc as they come/go. Also noted next to your name what fabric received as I think its a fail safe incase for some mystery they get misplaced.. I will not send the wrong one home.
I dont need any fabric back so this way you wont kill it. lol tell me you need it back, this way I wont kill it all! let me keep it surely will use/ruin half of it.. I measur etwice, twice over.. cut.. ah heck the wrong color for piece and so forth.. getting better did one block without any troubles no redo on seams nothing last night. Slow is good for this old turkey.

enjoy your sewing.. have fun fun fun!

travelinggramma 08-23-2012 05:07 PM

Received ladybugs today as well as DogHouseMom French Fab as well as Jaba's no red please!
that's four - and I have all weekend to play - waahooo

charlottemarie 08-23-2012 05:23 PM

Well fellow Rubies, I received F8's from Elisabrat and Moonwork42029 today.

Anastasia 08-23-2012 05:32 PM

Well I'm done with one block :) so far I've only received 3 fabrics.. Jaba, Moonwalk, and travelinggramma. I know what to do with the ladybugs.. but it's gonna take me awhile cause i"m going to have to learn how to do it first hehe. still not sure what to do with jaba's but I have a coordinating fabric picked out at least.

Ok ok Elisabrat.. you can have some cake.. sheeeessh.. Maybe it'll help your focus for measuring and cutting :)

DogHouseMom 08-23-2012 06:08 PM

Yeah! One of mine arrived.

Working on a practice block tonight. Need to re-train the brain on paper piecing.

Elisabrat 08-23-2012 07:23 PM

why thank you baby girl. I could be YOUR mother so I was going to go that route next if reaching in and stealing it didnt work.. lol. You are a baby next to me. I can barely remember that age.. my baby was just 2 yipes she is a bit older now.. life goes so quick when your young and have forever :)

FYI dont eat cake, now a fresh peach or bowl of fruit? stand back I am coming in and aim to win. I was only going to eat the whole thing just cause it appeared you were going to SHARE it as you posted it ..and didnt want to hurt your feelings (lmao)..

I think honey child its gonna take more than cake to help this measuring cutting thing. My best pal offered to come up and cut for me this weekend. Not sure if that is a help or not.. then it will be where did all those parts go? ahhhh..she doesnt quilt or sew. You know.. maybe I will just take my chances and do it myself. SLOWLY linda SLOWLY.. my husband says with my inability to run that a turtle would win a race with me and take a long nap waiting.. sigh. He ain't kidding either.

go eat Anastasia, go eat. Hey when is that birthday anyways?

Anastasia 08-23-2012 08:07 PM

Birthday is oct 15.. I'm sending a piece to a preggers lady I made a baby quilt for .. well am currently making a baby quilt for.. and bringing a piece to my mom and brother tomorrow.. Only fruit I got is grapes.. will that work?

moonwork42029 08-24-2012 04:15 AM

Elisabrat, jaba, doghousemom and travelinggramma f8's arrived in Possum Trot...yipee

travelinggramma 08-24-2012 05:57 AM

My mind was swirling so last night it took a long while to fall asleep. Would have gotten up to do some cutting but my studio is also my bedroom and hubby was sleeping! Got one paperpieced yesterday and almost ran out of fabric - anxiety attack was well on its way - but it worked out with a little finagaling (sp?). Whew now to depaper it and iron ....or do we iron and then depaper??????
Eating my blueberries - staying away from that chocolate gooey cake - gotta get some weight off if i want to enjoy Thanksgiving and Christmas!! Enjoy the day ..........

I was the same way ... I had fabric swatches and shapes floating through my head and I could not settle to go to sleep. I had spent a good part of the evening browsing quilterscache and printing copies of blocks that I wanted to consider, and that was in-between breaks while working on my practice block.

At least I've got a bunch of block patterns printed, I think I'll scan them to a PDF and save them on my PC so I don't have to go through that again.

Hoping I can crack out a few blocks this weekend.

Anastasia 08-24-2012 08:59 AM

Sorry, Elisabrat I also received your fabric yesterday but it was stuck in the mailbox so I didn't see it... (have one of those that's a slot in a wall that drops down the wall into a cubby). Also.. how did you bribe the postage guys to only cost 45 cents when we all seemed to have had to pay 65 cents? You brought them cookies didn't you? I knew I shoulda brought them cookies... They told me last time they do things for cookies.. ugh. Next time... Travelinggramma, your block is in the mail today. Hope you like it.
