Well you know I have that possum fabric along with multitudes of other backyard critter fabric...skunks, racoons, foxes, coyotes. Could really make an interesting block...the coyote chasing the fox chasing the possum...or something like that lol
Hugs April |
Oh I love that idea lovingizabella, you should send in the possum fabric. I bought my fabric yesterday and washing it today then I will cut it up, bag them and then attach the notes to them. I am getting so very excited.

Wow -that gets the creative juices flowing- Love Dr. Suess !!!!
|
I love Dr Seuss, My grand daughter will be 3 in October, maybe I should make her a Dr Seuss Quilt, she only has about 8 quilts from me now LOL. I finally found my camera now where did I put the fabric I am sending out? I will be so glad when I can actually lift things again and organize my mess!
OK, time for me to go cut some more post stamps... I need 1500 for the swap and I have about 900 done, better get to it! |
I signed up for a small group, however it really does not make any difference which size group, whichever one that will balance out your swap. I am happy with with all. Boom 7 was just great!
Cuppy |
Possums... Well I have Dogs and Cats to throw in the mix. I plan on making a quilt for our local humane society to raffle off. so think, dogs and cats when working on my quilt in blues and browns and puppy dog tails... that is what my quilt will be made of. Thanks, Phannie

"Boomerang Friendship Swap 8.0 Now open for Signups Boomerang Friendship Swap 8.0-Open for sign-ups. Signups will run until I have an even number of people for the groups requested or four weeks. Mailing deadline will be determined when signups close (four month turnaround)" April will send out the list when the signups close. |
Thanks, I had read that part but thought maybe somewhere in the first five pages I lost the updated when part. I have some memory problems right now that I am trying to adjust to..so forgive me if I ask goofy stuff. As I have said before I have moretimers disorder and am working hard at getting back to "sometimers"..sometimes I remember sometimes I don't. That was a whole lot more fun :)
On that subject I have a question for all you quilters. This is my newest unfun thing. I look at a pattern. the pic is say a red white blue.. I want to do black orange and pink (not really). I can not figure out when cutting though I look at it 100 times how to remember which one is supposed to be the 'red' or white' and end up cutting the wrong pieces again and again. I never had this trouble even two months ago. I guess I will have a nice collection of odd shapes and sizes for a scrap quilt. I even write it down, still cut the wrong colors. AHHHHH. The doc says this is a side affect of my being so sick this year. He says it might or might not be permanent and I could truly use help figuring out how to process this stuff again as easy as before. |
hi 'elisabrat' i know how you feel about working out the colours etc,
how about marking the pattern, if it says 'fabric A', 'fabric B', 'fabric C' and you are using 3 different colours or patterns... mark next to 'fabric A' blue with a colour pencil and the same with the others with red or green pencil (obviously with your proper colours lol...) i would even go right through the pattern and mark all the way through to the end with the pencils, just so you know you have got it right... it would save yourself a lot of time and fabric!!! if it's fabrics with large, med & small patterns to it, then mark 'fabric A' = lg, 'fabric B' = med, 'fabric C' = sm... and so on... if you don't want to 'mark' your book, then maybe take a photocopy and alter that... i hope this helps, (or at least makes sense!!) it sure helps me!! good luck!! xxxx |
Another question... I was writing my note today and wondered, do we request any scraps back? I don't care either way. But, it there was a piece I could use in a scrappy border... that would be fun.
|
Elisabrat, Sometimes when changing colors is giving me fits, I draw the pattern on graph paper and then color it with crayons so I can "see" how to cut each piece. That is especially helpful when I am reversing dark and light values.
|
Elisabrat,
Me too, send me the practice blocks! Love it, you won't have any problems in this swap. Everyone appreciates a nice block! |
I have all my material ready to go. This will be fun. I used some different materials. My main is material from Australia...Babuska dolls. I will need the scraps back from that. My other it doesn't matter but I will put a note in with the material. I just love what anyone comes up with. I am looking forward to getting everyone else's material to work on. Let me know if you need your scraps back.

this is my babuskha fabric that I got in Australia. I got there last 3 yards. So not enough for everyone to play with but a few of you. LOL. |
I am willing to exchange with those in other countries too.
|
very cool fabric!
|
That is so cute! My best friend just showed me her nesting dolls she received from her sis in Russia. And here to post.. babuskas! I wonder if you needed more if you could find it on Ebay? Seems Ebay has everything these days.
|
Today I hired the neighbor girl to come and help me organize my sewing room! Yippie, I found my Camera, found my fabric for the swap so I got some pictures. The Room looks so nice now I have to start a project soon.
While I am recovering from "heavy" sewing(I still have a 5 lb limit on lifting) I am doing some decoupage. It is turning out so cute. I am making a piggy bank for my GD, she will be 3 in October and she is learning to count money! The funny thing is she already understands Pennies are the ones she does not want but she still thinks nickles are worth more than dimes... Anyway I thought It would be fun to make her a bank. With my limitation I can make blocks, sew small pieces together, but I want to finish my Quilts! ElizaBrat, with all those extra pieces make a scrappy quilt. But I am sorry you have memory loss, there is nothing worse than know you know but not being able to remember what it was! Mine is just Aging, the older I get the more I forget what I went down stairs for! All my Squishes are ready for the mail! |

I have not tried ebay to look for this material. good suggestion. I saw it here on one of the swaps as someone in Australia had it. When I was there visiting my daughter, I checked all the patchwork shops that I could get to and no one had it. I finally found it on line and had to have it delivered from Sydney. It is very pricey.......about 22 per meter. I have never bought on ebay so I will check that out.

Urgodschild ... I've got some lovely golds to pop those dolls!
Fraew ... I might have to nibble on yours :) |
FYI- I've been purchasing fabric on Amazon.com. It usually comes from fabric stores and has been very good quality.
I have found some really fun fabrics that I haven't purchased also. Need to spend some time seaching for a fabric for this swap as I am away from home and all of my stash until mid Oct. Check out Amazon ladies. |
Amazon is great but the shipping is high to me...also look at thousands of bolts and fabric .com..after 35.00 shipping is free. I just got some timeless treasures egyptiasn fabric for 8.00 vs 12.00 in quilt shops..also thousands of bolts I can afford to but my brand name backings,,
