Moon, really pretty quilts! And Jaba..Im a "brown" fan and I love the one you put together! I always have so much trouble picking out a sashing to use, its nice to see what other people do with their blocks! Who was it that had the frog fabric? Id love to see that one finished, as weall as ALL the booms! Maybe someone should start a page on here just for finished blocks that everyone can post too?? Cant wait for April to post the update! Its like waiting for Christmas!

This is our fabric for this time. You can see the size of the shapes next to the quarter. I'm going to ask for just black or black on black only (Yes, this will be on the note with the fabric). Shhhhhh don't tell Dad but these blocks will be for him. He loves red and just kept commenting on this fabric so we're going to surprise him :D |

Oh moon - I sure hope I get to work on Dad's block!

Oh.. I'm so tempted. What are the usual costs of total postage if you do the small group?
|
Depending on your fabric and the way you package it, in a legal size envelope 45 - 65 cents to send out your fabric to each person. Sending each one their finished block back 65 - 85 cents . Out of the US is $1.10 If you want to be totally safe figure $1.30 per person for how many is in your group. Postage goes up at the end of the month by a cent or 2, sorry my new chart is downstairs, but this is close.

Fabric and Question

I finally washed and cut my fabric today:) I have never done a red, white, and blue quilt before so I am excited to see how it turns out.
Thank you to all who answered my block size questions, but I am still confused as to whether it is suppose to be 12.5" or 12" when I am done sewing and ready to mail it to the person. I don't want it to be too big so they have to cut it down, and I don't want it to be too small and it won't fit with the other blocks. I checked out the website (quilterscache.com) that someone recommended, however the closest size block they have is a 12" block. Are these the patterns I should use and then the blocks should be 12" when I am mailing them? Thank you for all who are helping me:) I am easily confused and want to make sure I do the right thing! |
AWilson...they are called 12" blocks but you will find that they are actually 12 1/2"when you sew them together and mail them. That way it gives the receiver a 1/4" on allsides to sew the blocks to the sashing or other blocks, thus making it a real 12" block. Hope this makes sense. The blocks in Quilterscache are 12" finished but actually when YOU make them they will be 12 1/2". I think everyone has made one too small or too big but its easy to take care of if that happens.. Noone of us is perfect and its just to have FUN and share friendships. I think you will have a blast with us!
