QuilterMomma I love your blocks too. It's going to be really fun to see what blocks come my way. I'm excited to build my neighborhood.
If you need some cute filler blocks I found this fun sulky web-site with a bom village. It's in another language, other than English, but the applique patterns are all there. It's fun to look at too. If I'd found this site before, I probably would have included one of their blocks. Hope this link works.

Bbemerald,
Thanks for this link...in addition to the house blocks, its got awesome BOM quilts!! I had to pm Craftsy and drop from the funky house swap a few weeks back, so now I am living "vicariously" through all of you!! Can't wait to see pics you all put up of all the great blocks that have been swapped...
Regards,
Kif

maine ladybug 04-29-2012 05:48 AM

Well, I do have the advantage on this one, as I live in the same state.

babeyruth 04-30-2012 11:07 AM

I just received my funky houses, what fun! I love the variety. Question... what do you all think is the best way to may blocks that are different sizes come together in a quilt?

ljdugas31 04-30-2012 12:38 PM

Just got my blocks, great assortment, good job crafty!!!!

QuilterMomma 04-30-2012 12:48 PM

I understand your question babyruth. That is the challenge. There are several ways to do this. I generally lay them all on the design wall and just look at them and try to imagine how they would look. Sometimes this takes a couple of days depending on what I am doing. Then once you come up with an idea of how you would like them to work, then start laying your pieces to coincide . Sometimes a 6" will work with a 3" to make a 9" which can stand next to another 9" then have a pice of fabric over them to make them the 12" to fit next to another. I am not sure how you want your neighborhood, but lets say you are doing rows, then you may have a 3" row, 6" row, 9" row and 12" row with the 12" at the bottom and this will give the perspective of you standing on a street and the others, because the size is smaller will give dimension as in a background. You get the idea?

Judith1005 04-30-2012 02:13 PM

Crafty, I received my blocks. Thank you so much for hosting. I have a few more blocks I want to add to my funky house "neighborhood". I love every single one and can't wait to start putting it together. Thank you everybody for the great blocks.!:)

Muse&Sew 04-30-2012 02:19 PM

Yea, I received my blocks in the mail today. Such a variety & cute houses. Thank-you everyone! This has been a really fun inspirational swap.

Muse&Sew 04-30-2012 02:25 PM

Crafty, tried pm you but your box must be full. Quick question, I received 21 blocks instead of 24, just wondering why? Thanks.

babeyruth 04-30-2012 03:17 PM

Thank you QuilterMomma, that makes sense. Thanks, it will be fun to look for fillers and play with them.

Here are the wonderful blocks I received in the swap. I will probably not put them all together in the same quilt. I am in several other swaps and I think some of the blocks might go better in there but I love all of them.

Crafty3790 05-01-2012 02:41 AM

Im glad you all are getting them. Sorry the package was damaged I have had some damaged lately but thankfully the inside is fine. Thanks for posting pictures.

Oh crafty no need for you to be sorry. What was odd also is that the inside plastic bag was completely open and gaping. I assume that was zipped shut when it was send. Thank fully all seem to be there.

Oh as for some of the blocks I plan to put in with other blocks from swaps, they are the adorable paper pieced bird house and the cute blue and green gnome mushroom house. The bird house, I plan to put with blocks from the paper piece swap I am in and the gnome mushroom house I plan to put with the magical forest swap blocks I receive from that swap.

abonda 05-01-2012 12:19 PM

I also got my blocks! Love them thanks Crafty. Nice job everyone! :)

Another way to do it is to make all the blocks the same size by adding to the smaller ones ( say using the log cabin effect or some other ). Then you can lay them all out and place them where you want them.

rwquilts 05-01-2012 03:22 PM

Rec'd my blocks. Thank you everyone.

sew1096 05-01-2012 10:34 PM
