Love it! How did you make the twig/laundry line it is hanging on? I got to make some more too.

It's very cute and really adds to the block.

Crafty3790 02-07-2012 06:20 PM

I used a piece of not ribbon not shoelace but like that you get it in the lace section some use it for necklaces. I couched it down with the same stitch I appliquéd it with. It was really fun to do. I love couching things I have done it with yarn and specialty ribbon yarn it looks really cool.

Cute houses Crafty.

Here are 3 houses I made from selvedges. They are 9 1/2" blocks. The colors show a bit duller than in real life. I can't seem to get my camera to take great pictures.

Muse&Sew 02-08-2012 07:19 AM

rwquilts, I love your selvage houses. They are adorable!

Difergie 02-08-2012 08:16 AM

those are adorable!

Annaquilts 02-08-2012 08:32 AM

I have a questiong. Most funky houses seem appliqued. What style applique do you use? It looks like the last selvedge house are raw edge appligue? By the way they are extremely cute.

SewExtremeSeams 02-08-2012 09:17 AM

Love your idea Ronda of using selvages for your funky houses.

Mariposa 02-08-2012 09:35 AM

rw- what fun houses with selvages! :)

Mariposa 02-08-2012 09:36 AM

Here is a doll quilt with funky houses and funky trees. I want to play in this swap. Will sign up on the 28th of February when I know how many houses I have gotten done by then. I like funky... Does funky mean: funky fabricss and/or funky houses?Guess those didn't show up so well... here's a few close-ups.

Crafty3790 02-08-2012 11:22 AM

I love those Rw and funky is either one fabric or style.

Crafty3790 02-08-2012 11:23 AM

Cute DQ I love the crooked tree too.

Mariposa, I tried to send you a PM, but your inbox is full and it would not allow it to go through.

ljdugas31 02-08-2012 12:44 PM

Love the selvage houses, what a great idea.... They look so cute.

rwquilts 02-08-2012 01:11 PM

Thanks everyone! I have to admit, they are pretty fun to make! Glad you like them. :)

kiffie2413 02-08-2012 03:00 PM

I love all the blocks you all are posting! The selvage ones are soooo clever! I used to throw away all of my selvages ( I can hear all the screams now...lol). For the last year or so I have been saving them and all the little strips I have too. A few people on here sent me pm's to trade for them, but I can't recall who they were, and when the board changed, I lost them...so, I have a 13 gallon trash bag over 2/3 full of selvages and scraps... Anyways, I better get busy, have made some blocks; but now have found an oop book that has some really clever house blocks in them, like a tree house with lil people, a club house, and even a motor home, just got it in, so am going to explore it and see how I can adapt them to be quirky, and if need be adapt to the right sizes...:)
Take care all,
Kif

Crafty3790 02-08-2012 04:56 PM

Those windows are great they look just like stained glass. Keep posting pic. I printed off a couple of PP patterns.

SewExtremeSeams 02-08-2012 05:08 PM

Annaquilts 02-08-2012 05:16 PM

Lady bug we are all standing in line for one of those churches to go with our quilt village houses. Extremely cute! Just keep on turning them out. I am working on an other swap right now but plan by this weekend to make some more for the grand house swap.

I'm laughing!! I'm very happy you all like them. I am having fun watching them turn into churches myself! I may do 3 more if I have time.

kiffie2413 02-08-2012 05:27 PM

Love them both!!! I have some churches in my new "houses" book I just got in, so may make a few of them, too...

Here are my lighthouses. You've seen one of them already, but it's just in the same picture with the two new ones. Sorry the picture is blurry.....

Crafty3790 02-09-2012 04:37 AM

Those are great reminds me of Maine LOL

Annaquilts 02-09-2012 07:01 AM

The light houses are adorable too!

travelinggramma 02-09-2012 07:28 AM

I love the lighthouses - especially the one with the seashell base - and the one where the water meets the sky - and well I love them all!!

travelinggramma 02-09-2012 07:29 AM

Kiff - what book is that - I would love to see the motorhome - would go perfect in my tent area of the neighborhood!

QuilterMomma 02-09-2012 08:55 AM

I was digging for some of my pp paper last night for a church quilt we are working on and low and behold I found another great house book that I have all the pps copied and ready to do up. It is Hometown Quilts by Jodie Davis. I did make a long time ago a quilt with houses for a church prayer team that was doing the light house project in Montana. Glad I found it, I just may use this also with the other blocks i get back on this swap. If I find one that is good, will make up a set from it. I do have the outhouse blocks ready to stitch out, not done yet, doing the quilt shop to share, and a couple of different houses. I may do a skyscraper. Some of us live in the big city and we need one of those?

ljdugas31 02-09-2012 11:04 AM

Ladybug LOVE YOUR WORK!!!!! The churches are my favorite!!!!

Crafty3790 02-09-2012 11:42 AM

I like the skyscraper idea. Can't wait to see it.
