I just saw those and OMGosh!! Is she on the swap too? (going to look).. She did a wonderful job on them! Makes mine look like doggy doo do!

blueribbontoes 02-02-2010 02:22 PM

She did join us, but Tuesy, I highly doubt your blocks look like doggy doo do! Lol! I made some and they're all wonky. I'll post a picture once I finish the blanket stitch I'm doing by hand. (Yes, there will only be one set of these little boogers- I'm going back to needle turn applique or paper piecing...this blanket stich is no fun!)

YAY!! I had to look too!.. and yes my blocks look like doggy doo do!.. but I'm not doing them over AGAIN..(did one block twice and kept messing up in the same place). Then the colors didn't look right, so had to do another.. so in reality I've done more than my 5 sets.. just those aren't good at all.. they're even worse than doggy doo do..blech!
Whatcha mean your's are all wonky? I think on the one set of mine, the flower grew cause it was the right size when I was cutting it out!..
I still have a callus (sp?) from doing the blanket stitch on a penny rug I did a couple of years ago.. that stuff wasn't fun at all.. so I feel your pain... Needleturn.. well I don't do that well.. so I don't do it at all...I'm the "fusible" kinda gal!

Well here is my 5 sets... be gentle...I cry easily!

MadeinMaine 02-02-2010 03:18 PM

Those are ADORABLE! No need to cry over those!
I have just been lurking on this exchange. I don't have many 30's prints to join in so I am doing my own collection out of scraps. It's fun to see your pictures!

blueribbontoes 02-02-2010 04:32 PM

Tuesy, those are great.(And I'm not just saying that...) I can't believe you have all those done already! I'm struggling with my first set...

I wish you lived closer! I would show you how fun needle turn is to do!

blueribbontoes 02-02-2010 04:33 PM

2doods- be sure to show us your progress!

blueribbontoes 02-03-2010 07:35 PM

ME TOO!! cause I have honestly tried needle turn and I get a messed up ... leaf, petal, or whatever it is I'm trying to do. Round become square, triangle becomes a blob.. it's just a mess!
I cheat with my sets.. I do one.. work out the kinks and then mass produce the rest.
I still have the blanket stitch to do around about 5 of them and then I'll be done. Might do some more too. These are just to cute to not do.

I agree with ya.. hurts the fingers like crazy... and I can't wear a thimble to save my life.. my fingers are to small/thin/whatever you want to call them.. even the leather ones fall off and they have elastic in them..

lucylockett 02-05-2010 02:57 PM

I've collected 30s fabrics for years, waiting for just the right quilt pattern. LOVE LOVE LOVE this one. I tried to select something different from what's been chosen so far . . . put me down for 2, 17, 47, and 80.

The workmanship shown on the pictures is fantastic!

jljack 02-05-2010 04:54 PM

Hi - I'd like to sign up for this, and will give you my block choices tomorrow, I guess. So many to choose from!!

blueribbontoes 02-05-2010 05:33 PM

(The blocks are available as PDFs. )

Fabric should be washed, dried and ironed. Please send what you want to receive. Please consider prewashing a social obligation and courtesy to any who may have allergies and or live in smoke and animal free environments. Please use 100% cotton.

Please only use 30’s reproduction fabric and bleached muslin (white muslin) for the background.

There are 91 blocks to choose from on the website. To participate in the swap, please choose one (or more) pattern(s) from the website listed above. To help narrow down your selection, I will attempt to list all 91 blocks and their construction method.

You will make 6 blocks all alike and send them to me along with a self addressed, stamped envelope for return postage which will be used to return your blocks to you. You will receive one of your blocks and 5 other unique blocks from other swap members. Since you will be getting blocks from so many other people, PLEASE MARK your blocks with a slip of paper- pinned on, or a paper sticker label, etc, with your online name and/or your real name. (Since these blocks are so small, a paper sticker label on the back of your block may be the best solution.)

You may make multiple sets of 6 blocks. You will receive as many sets in return as you send in.

Please have your blocks in the mail to me by MAY 15TH. Sign up closes April 30th. I will have them returned to you as quickly as humanly possible.

fun2quilt 03-05-2010 03:15 AM

I just found this swap, and would like to join. I will be doing blocks - 91,33 & 47.

Thanks, needed to go the FS anyway....LOL

blueribbontoes 03-05-2010 04:29 AM

I was essentially accused of being lazy in asking people if they wouldn't mind making one extra block for my baby quilt.

So, please don't bother. I'm not trying to get a "free quilt top." I thought it would be fun for my baby, as I am not able to finish th- no, I am not going to explain myself.

Now lets go back to having fun with this swap. How is everyone doing?

blueribbontoes 03-05-2010 04:30 AM

Welcome Kathy!

You of all people are NOT lazy  I don't know who said that (and I probably don't want to) but I think making an extra block or two is a great idea and I personally will still be doing some.. Your dd deserves something special :) She has a VERY special mommy  People should learn to tell a handout from a special request! Grrrr!

Ok, I am done lol... I think your dd will still end up with a very special quilt : :-o :-D

cjt_mama 03-05-2010 06:26 AM

As for my update.. Ummm... These blocks are not speaking to me just yet.. I have the fabric all washed, starched, and stacked with the patterns, but I cant seem to start them yet lol

craftymainemom 03-05-2010 07:08 AM

I am planning on being a part of your daughters special quilt. I will definitely send a couple blocks for her.

Even though these are small blocks they seem to take just as much time and sometimes more to put together. Measuring to get the sizes right is so essential. But the look so cute when they are done it is so worth it.

fun2quilt 03-05-2010 08:01 AM

Do I need to pm w/ my info or just include w/ blocks when mailed?

76 and counting 03-05-2010 08:57 AM

please don't keep us from being a part of your DD quilt we are a family we are here for one another we want to be a part.

blueribbontoes 03-05-2010 06:46 PM

76 and counting, anyone who wants to make a block is more than welcome to. I just don't want anyone to think they HAD to in order to be part of this swap- never my intention at all. I do not want to take advatage of all the wonderful people who I have met on this board.

I hope you all know that if you're ever looking for something, I would be happy to help.

HUH?? Come again??  What is up with everyone lately? Does someone have their panties in a bunch? Here's what ya do to fix that!

Get up!
Pull the bunch out of your crack!
You'll feel sooo much better!
and apologize to BRT for being so rude!
