I sent Janis a Patriotic Bow Tie Doll Quilt. It was an adaptation of an antique Doll Quilt from a magazine I saw. And Janis loves it!

Thanks for looking!

WOW!!! Both are Very Beautiful!!! :-o  :-D :-) :x    :XD:  :!: :!: :!:

I'm bummed. The post office assured me that my package would arrive today since I sent it priority. I guess my partner will have to wait another day.

oksewglad 07-30-2010 08:16 PM

There are just sooo many "oh" moments to this thread! Great job everyone!

IT CAME TODAY

I will get a picture up later tonight. Every one is going to be very jealous and want you as their partner

To all the quilters- watch out we have a new standard to meet. MistyMarie is one talented lady :!: :!: :!:

dotcomdtcm 07-31-2010 11:45 AM

Maybe we should put a rating on these swaps. The quilts I have received far surpass what I can make ,in return . I send mine out early so my partner sees the level I am working at.
I'm being honest, not modest.

MegsAnn 07-31-2010 11:49 AM

I enjoy getting quilts from all levels of quilters, personally. I don't need to get something back that matches my knowledge or skills. Once I've sent one, I really view it as a gift to the other person, and theirs is a gift to me. Not an even exchange.

All quilts are rated MARVELOUS!!!
There are so many talented people here. Each and everyone is terrific. The time, talent and thoughtfulness are greatly appreciated.
I think it is wonderful to make new friends, learn new skills and share our ideas and love with each other.

As Chele says " Long live the doll quilt swap"

The only BAD quilters are the one who receive and don't send a quilt in exchange. Thank goodness there aren't many here!! And Chele weeds them out FAST!!!

Thank you. I am glad you like it. While I was making that one, I did a second set of blocks to make myself one because I really liked the birdies... reminds me of my grandmother who passed away last year - she loved bluejays so much. (I haven't put it together yet, though. Lots of work.) Thank goodness for EQ7. I made my poor dh look about about ten different layouts and borders before choosing the one I did.

BTW... my dh said he was "stealing" your quilt to hang down in his reloading room. He likes the red, cream, and blue stars. I told him to keep his hands off!!!! It is hanging in MY sewing room.

kwiltkrazy 07-31-2010 02:59 PM

I love the banter than runs through this thread, and I hope everyone had as much fun as I did this month.

Chele 07-31-2010 03:38 PM

There sure have been some beauties this month! And there are a lot more to see according to my list. Woo hoo! The deadline to mail was July 30, so we'll be seeing a bunch more. I know I can't wait! If you've received a quilt but not been able to post about it or post a picture, please let me know. That's how I mark off that everyone has received a quilt.

If you are running late, please let your partner know. A lot of us stalk our mail people waiting for these little creations to arrive. I start sending out reminder PM's in a couple of weeks, so let's all communicate any delays so no one is disappointed and they know they weren't forgotten. We all understand about life happening.

The August swap turned out to be our largest, so I assume everyone is having fun. I sure am!

Long live the doll quilt swap!

Chele, the swap boss

Lizzytish 07-31-2010 03:50 PM

Yes I am having fun
Thanks for a lot your time put into organizing this swap it is greatly appreciated

All the quilts I have seen so far are great.
Lots of hard work and thought goes into each and every one of them.

roseOfsharon 07-31-2010 04:27 PM

Woot~ Yes I am so enjoying this swap! I do my best each month and feel I am advancing some each time. And just have loved all the ones I have received and seeing all the others made displayed here! Thank you Chele for continuing this fun swap!

Chele 07-31-2010 05:21 PM

I can almost guarantee you'll learn things if you join this swap. These little quilt swaps give everyone the opportunity to try new things, learn, practice techniques, etc. Use these swaps as experiments and learning lessons. Believe me, no one will mind. I tried some freezer paper applique today. Not the best results, but I've been wanting to practice applique techniques. I'm not going to master anything this month or this year, but at least I tried it. So try something! You might like it!

kwiltkrazy 07-31-2010 05:31 PM

That's what is so great about quilting, there is always a new pattern, technique or way to try. Never ending learning in a fun, usable, format. I love it.

Sapdoggie didn't get an opportunity to take a picture yet, so she said I could post pics of the quilt I made for her.

The whole quilt - 24" x 24"

I told you you would all be green with envy!! It is just gorgeous. Thanks again MistyMarie.

Chele 08-01-2010 04:12 AM

MistyMarie, you are no longer a doll quilt swap newbie. You have to join every month now. What a great quilt!

laparshall 08-01-2010 04:45 AM

With each doll quilt I have received, I can see that the quilter has put 100% + into their creation. And, while I don't acomplish perfect every time, I do like to try a different technique each month. I am really broading my quilting skills. I think that is a big part of this swap. More importantly, I am meeting new people. And it is fun following some of my past partners and seeing the quilts they make for others each month. And the best part is that I am having FUN! Thanks Chele, you are doing a great job.

Mary Hen 08-01-2010 05:20 AM

So very pretty.

yorkiemom 08-01-2010 06:36 AM

Beautiful bluejay quilt!

Here's a photo of the quilt I received from MegsAnn. I think it's very pretty. She didn't know that blue was my favorite color.

Thank you MegsAnn.

Janis 08-01-2010 02:34 PM

Such great little quilts we see here. All are great 'eye candy.' The best part is when we are in the swaps and will receive our own special little quilt!!! I love the opportunity to be in such a great group of quilters, make something new for someone else who will appreciate it, and get a little quilt too. This swap is the GREATEST!!!!! We all can't thank you enough Chele for starting it and keeping it going. THANK YOU CHELE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quilt4u 08-02-2010 01:43 AM
