I have angelina fibers, angelina films, a new fabric painting kit, graduation dying kits, Jacquard dye sets, all the chemicals needed for dying, resists too!...I just need to find the pix and make an album of them! OH and Shiva paintsticks and rubbing plates! How could I forget those when I just taught that class last week..hehehe

I also have some fiber sets and millions of hot fix crystals in over 30 colors and 2 sizes!

nancia 04-25-2012 06:38 PM

wow! jacqi! do you have a catalog? i have some supplies and books but i'm waiting for warmer weather, my husband isn't committed to a complete new kitchen when i'm done, so i have to dye outside. another good reason to be in texas.lol!

NO, now catalog, which is why I need to get pix updated and see what all I have left. I vendor at small shows and teach these techniques, so that is why I have it all!

I love going to my sisters in TX. we go out and dye for a week a straight..she has 50 acres in the woods, so no neighbors, etc...and lots of clothes lines..hehehe

MaryMo - QuilterMomma sure did make some unique and pretty mug rugs. They do indeed each have a place of their own. Everyone has done a wonderful job. I miss being in on this swap, but have enjoyed being able to pop in and view all of these pretty mug rugs. Everyone seems to be having lots of fun. Keep it going!

candi 04-26-2012 05:53 AM

MaryMo, what beautiful and special mug rugs you got.

Star shine, so glad you got my mug rugs. I will post photos of what I sent you when I get back home. And no worries about not sending mine out yet..take your time.

dixie_fried 04-26-2012 10:02 AM

OH MY GOODNESS!!
I love all the rugs so far, but, I got my rugs from Donna today and you should all envy me!
The only downside is that I won't be able to use them for their intended purpose. Too pretty.
I'm going to find round hangers to tack to the back so they can hang in my sewing area.
I got the cutest little thread catcher, too!
Photos when I get them edited to fit!!

THANKS, DONNA!

MaryMo 04-26-2012 10:04 AM

Here is the lady bug I got from abdc:

I hate that you can't really make out the details. She has dimensional eyes and little thread tentacles, and her wings lift up! So sweet!
Here is a back:

I've been thinking..... altered and embelished fabric, No Quilt Police allowed! something along that idea.

abdconsultant 04-28-2012 05:29 AM

Mamaskeeto beautiful rugs!

abdconsultant 04-28-2012 05:34 AM

I received my rugs from jaciqltznok, I would love to see a tut on this process. I love the colors and the process of altering the fabric. Thank you Jac! By the way has anyone ever made a quilt out of the kit you sent me. If so I want to meet them!;)

candi 04-28-2012 05:56 AM

Will the next swap be mug rugs ... or something else? I like the altered and embellished idea; we can use imaginations.

Psychomomquilter 04-29-2012 02:47 AM

Just passing through, I would like to know how you all made them so flat! and making the round binding. I made the circles, put the pieces together, but they still didn't come out right. another thing for me to learn!!

My first one came out kinda' bowl shape but after that they were better ... and flatter. The flattest one was the one where I sewed right sides together leaving an opening, then turning right side out and stitching the opening. They were really fun to make and I'm looking forward to the next swap. Join us!

I noticed that I had to ease in some of the bias binding, making sure not to get it too tight. They still seemed curled up until the point where I turned the binding to the back and hand sewed it. Once finished, they seemed to lay flat. I think true bias binding is key...or else the binding won't form to the curve and would pull the edges out of whack.
The one that I sewed RSF and turned laid flat, but wasn't truly round. It reminded me of the what the wheel must have looked like when the cavemen first made them.

nancia 04-29-2012 09:45 AM

abdc-- finished yours this a.m. dh should send it tomorrow. btw, it's not flat! :D
lynnie-- i happened to notice dh has your pkg in the 'boot' of his car. so sorry! should go out tomorrow, too!

I made TRUE bias binding...and one did not lie flat...I know now why..I pulled it too tight when attaching it! you can NOT force it on, it has to gently, ease itself into place when you sew it on!

jaciqltznok 04-30-2012 06:37 AM

I really, truly enjoyed the ROUND process...it was sort of new to me and it was a bit intimidating, but wow...it is not so bad and I just LOVE the look of all the rugs thus far!

MaryMo 04-30-2012 06:38 AM

I am fascinated that there is always more to learn .... and I'm doing that every day.
