Hi Jen:
Glad you got the package and enjoying them! It definitely was a fun swap but have to admit I never thought sewing a circle could be so challenging!!

I bought the book The Quilt Tile Revival by Carol Gilham Jones & Bobbi Fnlkey and have enjoyed making the tiles. I made this one as a square and cut to a circle. Its a great way to do hand applique when you fly weekly and have to minimize what supplies you can take on a plane!

thanks, pam1111 ! i looked it up on b&n. looks like another book i'll be ordering! my quilting library grows bigger and bigger. lol. i get more read and less quilted. lol

you will definitely enjoy this book as it has become one of my favorites! Check pricing on amazon too as I have always found them to have good pricing. Let me know if you make one of the tiles.

Nancia, that is such a great mug rug....is there a pattern for it??? and is it easy ???

candi 05-08-2012 05:50 AM

Tilted ears, love your mug rugs.

And Nancia, Wow! awesome!

nancia 05-08-2012 06:16 AM

sorry, no pattern. i made it up. it's not difficult, but it's harder to explain. i measured the girth of the cup, created a fish that long, made fins and tails and inserted them. left an opening at the bottom which becomes the tab that connects to the mug rug. quilted in a sort of scale pattern. sewed 3 buttons on each side for eyes, tacked the corners of the mouth. attached fish to mug rug , first by belly tab, and then sewed the reverse of mug rug and batting, folding the fish so it doesn't get caught, turned right side out. sewed a spiral to quilt. hand tacked head and tail in place to fit mug, and left room for the handle between head and tail. that's the readers digest version.:) i'm glad you like it. i love being outside the box!:D

MaryMo 05-08-2012 06:42 AM

Okay, Nancia, you should get a prize or something for such a creative mug rug. And, the fabrics you chose really make it all pop!

Would you consider doing a photo/text tutorial sometime? You are a terrific out-side-the-box creator!!!!:thumbup::thumbup:

SewExtremeSeams 05-10-2012 04:43 PM

Lynnie25, WoW for each of your mug rugs. Love your tags on the back.

Poor postie, look what he delivered to my door this morning :) :)

First photo: Thankyou so much LindaC for the gorgeous mug rugs, love them all and each one so different. Had to sit right down and read the magazine and spied the 'Crunchy Cheesecake' recipe towards the back..so guess what's for dessert this evening :)

Second photo: These are the beautiful mug rugs from nancia - we did our own little swap - I love the 'beach' theme and the mugs rugs are so cute - I especially love the fish one. And nancia also sent me a little 'Life's a Beach' tote, a ever so cute purse notepad and some tootsie rolls - I am becoming especially fond of those :)

What a fun swap this has been.

nancia 05-13-2012 10:53 PM

glad you like them, lynnie! i had fun making them! and i love the mug rugs you sent me!! the matruschka doll is so sweet! and each rug is special! lots of fun! we must swap again! there could be tootsie rolls in it for you! lol (not above a little bribery!)

LindaC 05-14-2012 01:52 AM
