Wont get results till maybe tomorrow. Im not claustrophobic at all but the way they had my shoulder wedged in there and told me to keep my right arm straight was very painful...my hand had been tingling before and by the time the 20 minutes was up it was really hurting! She offered meds before but would have had to have a driver so I went alone but DO have a couple pain perscriptions for a few days! :) A 67 year old woman on a skinny 12" board dont match! LOL

terriamn 01-11-2017 07:25 PM

I can only have open sided MRI's. Terribly claustrophobic. Freaks me out just thinking about them

joanelizbay 01-12-2017 04:16 AM

I told the "handsome" tech he needed to warn people of the noises because I thought at one point there was a jack hammer in there with me! :) The music sure helps but I hope I never have to have another one!

It seems the post office and me are having a bit of a battle. I ordered the padded envelopes on Monday and they still aren't here. Guess it is a trip to PO with a label ready to go.
Here are my fabrics. They are Kaffee Fassetts. No black and no white.

Yay, we get to play with beautiful Kaffe Fassett fabrics!

Janice McC 01-12-2017 12:25 PM

They usually take a couple of weeks to arrive.

They have delivered my other envelopes I ordered at the same time I ordered the padded ones. Oh well. I ran them to the post office for priority mail to you and when I got back to office, realized I did not put my instructions in the envelope or my return postage. I am just off today. I blame this cold.

My first fabric is a taupe floral from the Chantilly collection by Moda and it is going to everyone in the 2 month group. I'd like the fabric paired with WOW (white on white) only in creating a 2 color, classic style quilt block that can "stand-alone" and be set on point.

Putting my thinking cap on, jlt... lovely print!

jlt37869 01-12-2017 05:24 PM

My second fabric is from the Devon collection by Quilting Treasures Studio 8 and it's going to those in the 2 month group who are doubling up. The fabric is from a quilt kit that I never made and instead wanted to use in a pinwheel sampler type of quilt for my niece. However, it wasn't getting it done, so thought I would use in the boom. You will receive one or two pieces of fabric and you are welcome to make any block of your choosing. The colorway includes pink/raspberry/green and will be paired with WOW (white on white). I will try to post a better picture of the fabric collection this weekend.

Janice - my fabric should be to you tomorrow!

Lstew2212 01-12-2017 05:30 PM

lovely fabrics ladies. I have been searching for blocks that use two fabrics. I have quite a collection, so I think I can come up with some really nice blocks. I am also going to me LQS this weekend. I am looking for a quilting foot for my sewing machine with a 1/4 inch guide. I think this will help me with my quarter inch seams.

sewbizgirl 01-12-2017 05:57 PM

Those are so beautiful, jlt. Glad I will get to play with them too.

For this Boom, I'm really glad I have plenty of WOWs! (White on whites).

I'm so excited about getting our fabrics NEXT WEEK! At least... I think that's right!

Kassaundra 01-12-2017 05:59 PM

BB (before booms) I didn't even own a scrap of WOW fabric, now AB I always have a piece or two. Everytime I see a good thick (not see through) piece I snatch it up.

QM - Could I interest you in a BUNCH of padded Priority Mail envelopes? :) :) :)

Nice fabric jlt37869. So you wouldn't mind a Candy Dish or Grape Basket block. Good. How about a Birds in the Air? Sometimes that is set on point and it can look pretty good. I've also seen Grandma's Fans, but those are usually not monochrome. A set of 4 fans would be pretty. Hm-m-m

Janice McC 01-13-2017 09:19 AM

Just an FYI for the group, two more packages are on their way. One is supposed to arrive today, another tomorrow. In addition, we've got one "stuck" in another town 30 miles away. Why it went there in the first place boggles the mind. It's been there two days already. I expect they'll locate it and send it on its merry way soon. As long as everything arrives by Saturday, I will ship on schedule on Tues. Monday is a legal holiday so no mail.

In any case, it won't be much longer!

joanelizbay 01-13-2017 10:44 AM

Well NO ice yet...90 schools closed and several business...but its all gone to the south of Boonville which is in the middle of the state.NOT that it wont happen overnight but nothing yet. :) 2017 is NOT starting out good.I had my MRI and found out that I have a full thickness tear in my shoulder. Not sure what that means but I have to go to Orth dr the 24th. Im sure hoping they dont say surgery!! In mean time back to pain pills and Icy Hot!

sewbizgirl 01-13-2017 12:00 PM

I hate to tell you Joan... but you are almost certainly looking at surgery. It's the only way to repair those tears. They don't heal by themselves. So sorry you have to wait to see the dr.

marija 01-14-2017 12:26 PM

I only have about 12 fat quarters of kaffe, what blocks did you have in mind?

I'm thinking matching solids or tonals for those... but will wait to see her instructions first.

Janice McC 01-14-2017 01:52 PM

FYI, all F8s for this group have come in. Woo hoo! Great job everyone. I will mail out the F8s on Tuesday to those who are only in this group and have sent me your return shipping. Those who are in both groups, please head over to the April thread for the update. Thanks!

Also, Marija and everyone else, the choice of which block to make is yours, not the fabric owners. While sometimes block requests sneak under my radar, it's really not part of this swap for the fabric owner to determine that as well as what colors to use. Please, everyone, please make the blocks that you want to make. :)

I may be miss understanding something but I think Quilter momma was saying she is sending Kaffee fabrics, not requesting that you use Kaffee fabrics exclusively in making her blocks. And she is asking that no white or black fabric be used

Forgive me, But marija are you not in the April 3 month group?
I mean you could be in the March 2 month group But your name isn't listed with the others.
Am I missing something?

Janice McC 01-14-2017 07:22 PM

Thank you, Marietta. Marija, you ARE in the 3 month group named April. You should be posting to the following thread: http://www.quiltingboard.com/member-...a-t284947.html. It's very easy to get confused as many names are the same. Head on over to April for news on your group. Thanks!

I'm bored so I've made myself some blocks.

terriamn 01-15-2017 02:00 PM

Great blocks Libster

jlt37869 01-15-2017 03:29 PM

Nice blocks, Libster! I don't think of myself as an orange person, but I really like your fabric and already know what I am doing for you. Are making this quilt for anyone in particular?

marija 01-15-2017 03:56 PM

Yes, I'm in the April 3 mo. group Marietta.

Thanks for asking. Yes, this one will be for my 30 year old granddaughter. She requested this fabric. She's my "Sara-Wild Child". She's the mom of my great-granddaughter. I made her a purple and yellow pinwheel flower quilt when she was a young teenager, I do believe she's outgrown it now. She doesn't often ask me for something, so I'm looking forward to making this one for her. I love seeing her face light up when she's happy.

jlt37869 01-15-2017 06:56 PM

Oh, that's right. You mentioned that it was for her previously. I'm sure she'll cherish it. I'm planning to use a tone on tone off white/cream and a solid (matching) orange along with your print. Unless you'd prefer a tonal orange. I don't have one on hand, but it would be a good excuse to hit the blender wall at the quilt shop.

Libster, you can see that orange print is going to make a beautiful quilt! Lovely blocks.

Solid or tonals, either or both, would be great. I have a tonal olive green that I'm going to sash it and bind it with.

Thanks, Sewbiz. It is beginning to grow on me just a bit. It will never be my favorite color, but I can live with it now.

Yes, this is it! You got it. Thanks Kassaundra. Been sick again with the cold that has been going around the office. Have not been on the internet at all. Came to work and am very miserable but hanging in there.

While I'm waiting for swap fabrics I played a little bit with some blocks for my own quilt. Here are two I've done:

This one is called Hidden Star:

Forget what this one is called, but it looked sufficiently 'spacey':
