oooh...thinking hard about this one.

dove911 08-22-2012 07:29 PM

Hi, Rachel! I had such fun with the Halloween swap, I thought I should try this one too. Put me down for 2 sets and I'll pm you with my info. Looking forward to this.

Dragonfly Nana 08-23-2012 02:26 PM

The easiest way to "re draft" would be to add 1 inch: Make your string rectangles 3 1/2 x 9 1/2 and make your side strips 4 x 9. This would add the length you need without changing the width and still keeps the heart shape intact....it will just be a little longer. Good luck.

I'm thinking of making this pattern from http://blocksnswaps.blogspot.com/201...ith-bonus.html, but it is 6.5 x 8.5 any ideas on how to add a little more to get length to get it right for the swap? Any expert quilters out there who have any ideas on modifying the pattern?

Hi Rachel, I finished my first set. All hand embroidery. Here's my next set. (machine embroidery) Only 2 more to go. I have my third set in the works also. But, they didn't seem to want to go together today. (paper piecing) I was taking more out then I was putting in. But, I will be giving them another try on Monday. (I work on the weekends.) Having lots of fun tho. Hope to see more pretty blocks soon.

Donna H-M 08-25-2012 04:48 PM

Really cute design Judith, I admire your handwork !! :)

How about these for a 3rd set. Although, they are similar to QuiltingMommy's. They are a different shape. Let me know if these will work. I'm going to tweak the colors a bit. And, I have to add a border because they are just a smidge to small. (But, I can fix that!!) lol Or, if you really don't want these, I can do something applique instead. :) (I'm flexible.)

Oh Rachel, Are you partial to Pink valentines or Purple valentines?

Donna H-M 08-27-2012 03:54 PM

Another nice one Judith :)

Judith1005 08-27-2012 04:09 PM

My mom doesn't like the black and white prints. What do yall think? I'm always afraid of my work appearing flat. Your comments are very welcome.

cjr 08-27-2012 05:47 PM

Hi Racel,
I'm in for one set for sure, possibly 2 but will see how this goes

Personally, I like the black and white worked in with the other colors...remember.this is "funky".

Judith1005 08-28-2012 05:08 AM

Oh, I forgot about that. I kinda of liked the black and white too. It's unexpected. Thanks for the reminder. :)

owlvamp 08-28-2012 05:10 AM

I believe I started on some hearts somewheres. If I can find them I will join.

athenagwis 08-30-2012 04:36 AM

Judith I love your blocks so far!! I like pink and purple on Valentine's!! :) I am not a big purple at Halloween fan (just my preference), but I think it fits for Valentine's for sure. :) Great job!!

I have my 3rd set almost finished. I just need to add a small border to them to bring them up to 9 1/2" sq. But, here are what the hearts look like.

cjr 08-31-2012 06:06 PM

Hi Racel.
I will be doing 2 sets of 12.5 x 12.5 blocks. I have the first set pieced just need to applique to background. At this rate I may even attempt another set, I'll let you know.

Judith1005 09-04-2012 10:30 AM

Rachel, mailed off 3 sets to you today.:)

kiffie2413 09-04-2012 12:47 PM

Hi Rachel,
My 2 Sets are finished. I would like to do a third set. I've dome blocks 3.5" x 9.5". Do I need to send 12 of those or 6? I love hearts and this is such a fun swap. I'm reallu looking forward to it.

I agree with Mary - the B/W really makes the other colors "pop"

Those Red ones are outstanding!

Judith1005 09-08-2012 05:27 PM

Thanks Paula. I just pulled scraps out of the scrap bag for most of these. They were fun to make. Hopefully, I made enough to mix in with last years pretty valentines blocks. I'd like to say I can't wait to get them back. But, really, I can wait. I'm working on my "Good Ol' Summertime" swap blocks. I'm trying to get my top made from them. But, I think I'm going to need to make just a few more blocks. I don't have them placed right yet. I really am trying to keep up. But, this is a first time putting different size blocks together. It's kind of like playing tetrus.:)

Has anybody else made any blocks yet? Would love a sneak peak. :)

Rachel, have my blocks been delivered to you yet? I'm just checking. :)

2bsmurphy 09-08-2012 06:07 PM

Rachel...Sign me up for at least 2 sets. This will be fun.

Hi there Rachel. I got a little distracted by the boomerang swap, but I wanted to let you know about my work on this swap. I have finished two sets, each different. I am planning to make a third set; I need to go online and find something different to try. The scrappy hearts that I posted on in August were difficult, but I made 6 9.5x6.5 blocks. I also made a group of drunkards path-circle in square 6.5x6.5 blocks with hearts and lady bug prints. Now I need to find a third idea....

quiltingmommy 09-13-2012 02:10 PM

okay I finished a third set today. So here are my three: string heart, mended hearts and love bugs

Sorry for making you all tilt your heads in such an awkward angle.

Here is a block I'm considering. What do you think?? The upper left section was supposed to be horizontal and would be if I decide to make this block for the swap.

(sorry it's sideways. Darned computer!)
