I got my name yippee.

She lives South of me.

She has pets too.

I do not know if she likes home baking. But if I was going to send some I would send closer to the opening date. I love to make candy at Christmas. But I also make wicked Butter Tarts. OMG~~~my favorite !!! I grew up on these in BC...White Rock. I have never tried to ship butter tarts before.

Now to stalk her to get some more ideas.

I have been shopping since the Spring for this. It is great to find super bargains and put them aside. I just need to round out the box and get something for her critters. Last year I made dog quilts for my recipient.

I hope it wasn't me that offended you - that was not my intention :( Sometimes the written word comes out not the way it was intended :o

DREAMER !!! I don't need anymore I get plenty form my neighbors :( I have one lonely little tree but yet end up with millions of leaves and since I have a fence they seem to stop at my yard

Oh Boy, I made it from page 50 -65 this morning.

I went back and looked at the information I sent in and just realized there was not much to go by.

I have a sewing fabric stash, but not much quilting fabric.

I love precuts. I know some do not, but I really love them and have used them for a few projects.

Jenny Doan is my quilting Goddess. I have one of her magazines (first issue) and another would be lovely. Gently used is fine by me.

I love finding vintage (or just plain old) sewing notions and supplies at Thrift Shops.

I love colour. I tend to gravitate to bright and bold colours. My toaster is bright red. I wore a bright orange top to work Friday. But soft colours have their place too.

I am a mother of teens, I have been married to the same fellow for 21 years. I work 6 days a week, so My Time is limited. Maybe that is why I love precuts and Jenny Doan.

I would love to get some time off and join the naughty girls in the hole. I don't have a tiara, but have some glow sticks.

Dark Chocolate not milk or white.
Tea, not coffee (dh loves his coffee)

We have one small (20 pound) funny looking dog named Oscar and two cats Sophia and Charlie.

I really enjoyed Secret Santa last year. My mil could not understand why I would send a gift to a stranger, but she was here on reveal night and just loved to see what I received.

I love to bake so am always well-stocked at Christmas. I have so many "must haves" at Christmas that I'm usually still munching on them through January (having frozen the excess from December). So obviously, I'd rather my SS round out my package with something else.

For instance, I know people whose baked goods I'm hesitant to eat, because of lack of cleanliness, in preparing food. When I'm cooking/baking, I wash my hands constantly (and dry, on paper towels). Ordinarily, I'm not a 'clean freak' but baking is a totally different story. . . and if I'm at all sick, I do NOT bake. Period.

I swear, Nessie, we could be long-lost sisters!

Both of you, come sit by me! I've brought nice, comfy floor pillows, for those of us with runaway typing fingers. Look for the trying-to-appear-contrite woman (that'll be me), sitting beneath the sign that reads, "I'm just a soul, whose intentions are good. Mary Did You Know

Mary, did you know
That your baby boy will one day walk on water?
Did you know
That your baby boy will save our sons and daughters?
Did you know
That your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that youve delivered
Will soon deliver you

Mary, did you know
That your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Did you know
That your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know
That your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
And when you kiss your little baby
Youve kissed the face of god

Mary, did you know?
The blind will see
The deaf will hear
And the dead will live again
The lame will leap
The dumb will speak
The praises of the lamb

Mary, did you know
That your baby boy is lord of all creation?
Did you know
That your baby boy will one day rule the nations?
Did you know
That your baby boy is heavens perfect lamb?
This sleeping child you're holding
Is the great I am

Everyone has ONLY ONE person that they are sending to and they are receiving from. NO ONE has more than one!

It's just as well or my SS would be greatly disappointed! Just this morning I was in the only LQS in my town and FQs are £3.40 ($5.40) each!

I remember when we lived in Scotland my family here in the states could not understand why we complained about the prices. I sent gifts with the tags on for them to see, but then had to remind them about the exchange rate. They said what was wrong with a £10.00 CD, I told them it cost me $19.50 in reality, this was back in 1991. It was said that things cost more on islands, it doesn't matter the size of the island things still cost more. Kenitte I remember your pain. Hope your SS sends you lots of fabric.

tlrnhi 10-12-2013 11:23 AM

Home baked goodies are good to send, but like was mentioned, send closer to opening date UNLESS you can seal them so they don't go bad. If you do send goodies and are worried about them going bad, I suggest you send them in a separate package and allow your person to open them right away. Don't put anything else in the package except for a note/card saying they are allowed to eat them while waiting for opening day.

Leota 10-12-2013 11:43 AM

One year, I did "The 12 days of Christmas" and had 12 separate packages that sent out every other day.... Each gift had something to do with the 12 gifts of Christmas :) .... it was a ton of fun AND kept my santaeee in the Wonder mode :D

The only problem I can see is if it is too perishable. I was thinking of sending something like that, but box separately with open right away..Fudge etc would be ok to wait on if well wrapped. I once opened a box with chocolate that melted all over stuff

I don't believe there is a fabric manufacturer left in the U.S. I will have to do a little research on this. Or anyone, feel free to chime in if you so desire.

I'm not aware of any fabric being manufactured in Europe on any significant scale. Most of it is manufactured in China, India and the US - Y'all are the third largest producer in the world.
We import nearly all of ours from you, although some of the big manufacturers - such as Hoffman, Kaufmann, etc. will have distributors here or elsewhere in Europe.

SulaBug 10-12-2013 11:57 AM

Baked goods are just fine for me, just send them my way!! :D I love home made Christmas candy, yum-yum.
:D :D :D :D

I love goodies but just recently found out that I allergic to soy, milk & gluten - not celiac YET So I'm experimenting with cooking with Almond milk.
Talk about limiting what you eat... it's ridiculous...

Everyone has only one SS, from this particular swap. However, there are other boards, which have other Secret Santa swaps. There are sewing boards, dog breed boards, knitting/crochet boards, etc. Some people post on more than just the Quilting Board.

Thank you, to all who responded to my home-baked question. :) IF I send these particular goodies, they will probably be sent in the regular SS package, with the rest of the gifts. I guarantee they will not go bad, within a month's time (if the bags are kept closed). Needless to say, I would bake and package them, right before mailing the box. :)

I feel your pain! I take LactAid, for lactose intolerance but have to avoid soy protein/flour, entirely. Soy is in SO many prepared foods, it's downright scary!

I ran out of strapping tape, so my package will have to be mailed this next week...oh goodness...all the talk of goodies is making me hungry for Christmas yummeries!!! I may have to make up a batch of fudge to send to my Santee in a different package (don't think I could even stuff one single piece in the box)...but does she like? Not? Sigh...this is where information would have been helpful...oh well...I have time to see if she ever posts here...too late for the main goods though.
