There are lots of versions of a bottle tree. Mine are a metal frame that you hang the bottles on. The idea is that the bottles trap the evil spirits that lurk around. I have many evil spirits next door to me, so need to trap them so that they don't come into my yard. Google bottle tree and see what you come up with. There are some really fantastic ones.

Cheesehead 09-19-2013 06:48 AM

1 cup light Karo syrup 1 TBS vinegar
1 cup sugar 1 TBS baking soda
1 TBS vanilla 1 1/2 lbs bulk milk chocolate

In a saucepan, mix the syrup, sugar, vanilla and vinegar. bring this mixture to 300 degrees on a candy thermometer. (It is nt necessary to constantly stir the mixture while boiling to desired temperature) When the mixture reaches 300, stir in the baking soda, just until dissolved. Adding the baking soda will cause the mixture to double in size. Pour the mixture into a buttered 9x9" pan. DO NOT SCRAPE THE SIDE OF THE SAUCEPAN AND DON'T SPREAD THE MIXTURER AROUND IN THE PAN. Let cool. Loosen mixture from pan and cut into bite size pieces. The pieces will break apart into different shapes and sizes, this is just fine. Melt the chocolate for dipping. Dip pieces of candy in chocolate and let set on waxed paper. When set, store in an airtight container.

This is the recipe for the fairy food, angel food candy, sponge candy.

My mother used to make that stuff when we were little. We called it seafoam candy. I would eliminate the chocolate, because I can't eat it. I used to make it too way back when. Will have to make it again.

sewnsewer2 09-19-2013 09:34 AM

Oh dreamer you are a naughty girl, aren't you?:D

sewnsewer2 09-19-2013 09:35 AM

So I was watching Steve Harvey today while quilting, and he had some new products they were testing. This was one that I thought would be perfect for us while we are prepping for SS. No hands needed while quilting, and it could save on bottles too: https://www.google.com/#q=wine+rack+bra Maybe we should order a case of them in each size and have them on the table in the hole or in the naughty corner. :D

Tink's Mom 09-19-2013 01:39 PM

Not sure it would be good while quilting, Grann...one pin prick and you have sprung a leak! ROFL

grann of 6 09-19-2013 01:48 PM

I tend to keep pins away from my boobs, don't know about you. :D And I need to be increased by 2 sizes.:p

ArizonaKAT 09-19-2013 02:21 PM

We will have to have Terri dig a deeper hole - since it seems the party is taking off sooner this year LOL

Dreamer I did NOT take your blue bottles... you left them laying around and well.... they just disappeared ;) LOL

Neesie 09-19-2013 03:23 PM

I just sent a PM and joined the Secret Santa party. After reading this thread, I just couldn't stay away! :p

grann of 6 09-19-2013 03:53 PM

Does this mean I need to order an extra case of each size of the "Wine Racks"?

Have joined again in this fun swap. I liked it last year, when I joined and have had so much fun reading all the posts for this year already. Up for anything, once in a while a margarita, too many pills, otherwise. Trying to get off some.

Yep, I think so! Dreamer, I'm already singing your song! And yes, we're getting an early start this year! I think we're all needing some silliness in our lives for a change, I know I sure do!

silliness is a good thing.

Wow, I had a lot of catch up reading, sounds like you guys are having to much fun. I just ordered a wonderful gift for my Santa partner. Can't wait to get it, drool, wrap it up and have it ready to send. I would love to get it so now I need a partner to love it too. Christmas is a long time away and I'm already getting ready.....need to take my temp, something's wrong....

Jean D 09-19-2013 06:03 PM

I signed up for secret Santa swap, I just sent you a pm with all my info-looks like fun! I am out shopping tomorrow so will start looking!

jaba 09-19-2013 06:34 PM

Like the "idea" of the wine rack but don't think that part of my body can expand quite that much. I need to decrease, the older I get the more hassle it is to haul them around. When that present comes in the mail RetiredFireChief, just send it right on to me, don't want you to ruin it with all the drooling and such. I can let you know if it's good and you'll have time to order another one.

Chester the bunny 09-19-2013 06:40 PM

tlrnhi --- did you announce on the Main Page that the secret santa swap was taking registrations ??
I think that is where I saw it for the first time last year otherwise I would have never known about it.
And I almost missed it this year as I don't come on the swap page very often.
Maybe there is a rule about not putting it on the main page.........
I'll be filling out the form in the next day or so and send it in.
Thanks for hosting the swap!

Karo syrup is corn syrup. You probably have something similar in Aurstralia.
