blueribbontoes 10-29-2009 01:27 PM

Shucks! I don't know my partner, but I can say I'd rather be with her than in cold, rainy, Wisconsin!

MadQuilter 10-29-2009 03:22 PM

I just scampered through some older post to see what my partner likes. I'm thinking........shhhhht, can't tell.

LOL Mad I did the same thing earlier today!! I wanted to get a feel for what she would like.

peaceandjoy 10-29-2009 05:43 PM

Was I ever excited toda when I had a chance to check my e-mail and got my message w/ my partner's name!! Internet is sketchy at best here - it's made me realize just what an internet junkie I am... Not being able to check my e-mail daily, let alone anything else of interest, is sooo annoying.

I'll not give any hints as I'm terrified of the paddle. Paddle ??!!?? Wow, it's been a loooongg time since I've been threatened with one of those.

Tried to get to a LQS here in sunny FL today, but by the time I got there, they'd closed :( only a couple more days here, so don't know if I'll get the chance to go back or not. I'm hoping so, I love an excuse to shop and getting supplies for this is the perfect reason.

This is the onl thread I've read through, and enjoyed seeing a few furry babes posted. I'm missing my sweet Six - but know that he'll be kneading me with all of his many toes as soon as we are home. He truly is my baby now that DD's are all grown up.

Take care, friends!

wvdek 10-29-2009 09:21 PM

Woohoo got my name today and am off-by myself tomorrow to do a little shopping two hours away at my local LQS.

Now what to get her/him. Are there any 'hims' on this? Hmmm

Let me tell you about them. They like fabric, sewing machines, comfy blankies, their work is alway's beautiful, and they are very nice and helpful to one and all. Does that help?

Gotta go think what to get........

sewjoyce 10-30-2009 06:50 AM

I got my partner's name too! I am SEW excited!! I ordered my whatever the other day so as soon as it arrives, I will get to work!!!! :D :D But we do have until the end of December to get these babies in the mail to our "secret" partners, right?

dvseals 10-30-2009 07:12 AM

And we get to open them when we get them?????

omak 10-30-2009 07:54 AM

NO! You do not get to open them as soon as you get them.
It is Christmas, and you have to wait! And, since the deadline is December 31, you have to wait until MIDNIGHT to open them ... that would be midnight Pacific time ... and, since I am too old to be up that late, you will have to wait for my posting letting you know that I have opened mine, and THEN!
You may open yours ...
doesn't that sound like I am a FUN date???? LOL

omak 10-30-2009 07:55 AM

One of my favorite commanders ... I don't remember her name, but she was high in the Navy ... and she said:
It is sometimes easier to ask forgiveness than to ask for permission ....

Just something to keep in mind when you ask questions 8)

I used to be an "Administrative Assistant" to a bunch of Narcotic detectives -- believe me, I learned that from them....

We seem to have traveled among an uncivilized lot of individuals.
Of course, I didn't travel there, I just read about them, and thought they made a lot of sense! <g>

sewjoyce 10-30-2009 08:24 AM

 Oh, yeah, my "guys" could certainly be considered as "uncivilized" in many circles....

But they "cleaned up" good!!

My former boss uses that approach too, so he was a little surprised when I followed suit. THE BAD THING IS: when you have asked and THEN you go against the answer, THAT's a lot harder to ask for forgiveness.

Mountainquilter 10-30-2009 01:11 PM

got my partner's name. we should all have to profile what we like and dislike. but then again, if we like a lot of diffent things, just about anything will do.

I think the surprise in it all, is the fun part!

NiceNCLady 10-30-2009 02:07 PM

Well whoever has my name, trust me, I will love anything you decide to do. Not picky here. If it's a quilt, I love it.

I'm of the same mind-set. I think it is even more fun to see how the partners interpret each other's interest and style. And if someone wants to make a quilty to try out a new technique - hey, I'm game to be a guinny pig.

Nancy in Louisiana 10-30-2009 08:05 PM

I spent the WHOLE day working on my little quilt -- why is it so much harder to make than a normal size -- I guess because every stitch shows up so much more. Here I thought I could just whip it up in a few hours -- and I know I spent a few hours just ripping out stitches. Believe me, I now have a whole new appreciation for these little guys. Anybody else with trifocals having trouble sewing in a straight line?

My daddy told me: No one can shoot you for asking, but they can tell you "NO!" - - if you never ask, you will never know ...
and,
I interpreted that to mean:
If you don't want to hear the word, "NO!" don't ask the question ... cuz, if you ask the question, and they say "no" ... then, you really HAVE to abide by their decision ... so, only ask the question if you can live with "no" ...

SulaBug 11-01-2009 09:39 AM

I LOVE the beginning of your
NOV/DEC doll quilt!! :D I can
hardly wait to see the finished
quilt!!
:D :D :D :D

Iluv2quilt 11-01-2009 10:30 AM

Found the cutest material - can't decide which way to go - I'm going to try something new this time, no pattern. Uh-Oh A new adventure in design. All of my others have been from a pattern, but I much prefer everyone's individual's designs in this Swap. So, I'm going to give it a try.

NiceNCLady 11-01-2009 11:59 AM

Well I found my person's likes and it's going to do exactly what swaps are good for--cause me to grow. Their likes are very different from mine so I'm going to do my best to combine what they like with what I enjoy working on. We shall see what comes of that. lol

craftiladi 11-01-2009 12:00 PM

lol Nancy, I am by no means a experienced quilted but so glad I didn't wait until the last minute to start my lil quilt because I had a couple lil problems and then when I was happy with it I received my partners name and took a peek at what they might like....now I am thinking of creating a whole other 12 x 12.
p.s. yes the bi-focals should be changed to tri..shh I am in denial
