I like the doll quilt that UpNorth made.
Good show!
another fine example of OBW - - diagonal cut square?
I think it is so interesting how not only did you get the patterns, but you were able to alternated the OBWs with each other to create even more interest ... that is one really cute little doll quilt.

This is my first swap and I'm amazed by the wonderful quilts already posted!!! I started mine and after trying several ways of doing it placed it on the "when I have time and patience to try again" pile. So I'm back to square one. I hope my swap mate is patient!! Ladies, your work is fabulous!! Each and every one.

pvquilter 11-09-2009 03:55 PM

I haven't started mine either. Still thinking what to make.

pvquilter 11-09-2009 03:56 PM

Deadline is Dec. 31st right?

sandpat 11-09-2009 04:14 PM

I finalized.....my idea today..you thought I was gonna say I was done right???? Of course NOT! I do know for sure what I'm gonna do though. It will take me awhile...I might even have to do a "test" run..

sewjoyce 11-09-2009 06:30 PM

OK, I have a question. Do we need to put a hanging sleeve on the back of these or leave it up to the recipient to do so if they so desire? Send a hanging sleeve unattached? :?: :?:

Ms Grace 11-09-2009 07:22 PM

I mailed my little quilt & some goodies to it's new home today. :D
Hope it has a safe trip.

sandpat 11-10-2009 05:15 AM

Joyce...I put the little hanging corners on the back of my Oct. quilt and will do the same with this one. I don't know if that is right or not. I like to use a little dowel to hang them with and thought my swapper might do that too. I tie a little piece of wire in the center of the dowel, then I can hang it with a picture hanger.

You could go ahead and add it, then if they want to hang it...its there...if they don't, it doesn't bother anything..right?

LindaR 11-10-2009 05:22 AM

Mines going out today.....

moosegirl 11-10-2009 05:49 AM

I finished my doll quilt today and it came out so fantasic that I want one so I'm making a second design before the deadline and that way I can choose the best one for my secret partner and the other best one for me! since both of us like red and winter images. Moosegirl

quiltease 11-10-2009 01:45 PM

Me again. I have a question. My quilt top is 18x22 1/2, which I know is within the limits. My question? I might put prairie points around the outside edges once I finish quilting it. That will bring the longer measurement over the 24" maximum. Do you count the dimensions of the quilt with or without the points? A regular binding is fine too, if the points do count in the final measurement. It'll just help me decide what to do to finish it. After it's quilted...I'm not THAT far along!!!
Thanks everyone,
bev.

Chele 11-10-2009 01:59 PM

What great quilts already! You little overachievers! LOL!

There are no requirements for hanging sleeves, but if you want to put them on, by all means do so. I know your partner would love it.

And quiltease, no worries about size. The size requirements are only a guideline. I run a loose ship!

I hope everyone is having fun making or dreaming of their little quilts!

Chele

LMAO!

Well I'm done quilting the table runner - just got to stitch the binding down on the back. Now on to the doll quilt... I quilted with a zig zag over the seams - first time I tried that - and I must say I think it looks pretty cool! :D

sandpat 11-11-2009 06:35 AM

Come on k...show...show...you know you can, your swappee won't even know its for her/him...they will just be drooling! Show it!!! Hey...I think I'm your swappee anyway!

k3n 11-11-2009 08:05 AM

Just finished quilting and machining on the binding now going to check round the board then go sit with the kids while they watch TV and hand stitch the binding down, THEN I'll post a pic, OK?

Esqmommy 11-11-2009 08:08 AM

I have most of mine "cut" and now need to sew the top together and figure out some borders..then backing and finish! I'm starting my Indian Orange Peel class today, so probably won't get to it!

Hope you all have a great day - oh and to our Vets -a big Thank You!!

k3n 11-11-2009 10:14 AM

OK I'm done! I did this using the tube quilting method and zig zagged the quilting - another first! I used the off cuts from the ends of the tubes to make the corner blocks. The fabrics were FQs I got from Beachlady in Mare Stare, called 'Merry and Bright' by Moda. They're really cute, kind of contemporary Christmas with little Christmas trees and holly. :D

I made a table runner with the other 3 blocks but still have to sew down the binding. 5 FQs made both, binding included. :D

k3n 11-11-2009 10:15 AM

Sorry the pics are rubbish - subdued evening lighting at our house!

That is until the lucky quilter gets it and gushes over it like we all have. But then, looking at all of the darling little Oct quilts, if the Nov-Dec are half as nice as these last ones are, everyone will be happy with their quilts. I love looking at the little quilts. I am SOOOO glad I joined this forum and the doll quilt swaps!!!! :D :D :D :D
