Sibi, welcome!

Everyone: I'm about to go out of town for a business trip for the next 9 days (taking hand-piecing with me); I'll be online intermittently.

We've had a few newcomers that I haven't yet matched, so if you don't hear from me, don't worry.

We are still welcoming new folks to join (through 15 Dec).

Catch ya later!

TwinRiverFarm 11-01-2011 05:30 PM

Hi Jillaine! I just sent a PM to you about joining. Have a safe trip and can't wait to start! I have never had a quilt made for me, everyone thinks I have too many! Like that could ever happen.

tigertillman 11-01-2011 06:13 PM

grandme26 11-02-2011 02:14 PM

My partner called this morning and we had a really nice visit. I am really looking forward to getting to know her. She also gave me a great idea of the quilt I will make for her. I am so excited. Now have to choose what I will do and a color theme.

Cranberry Cabin 11-02-2011 04:41 PM

I would like to join this if you have room & it's not too late. I love quilting, and giving quilts, and this just sounds like a great way to make someone smile. I'll PM you the personal info.

My PM's are empty...want to try to PM me to see if it is working?

jillaine 11-03-2011 02:12 PM

Hi everyone. Let's all BREATHE.... We'll get the hang of this new board yet. It didn't help that they did the move while I was on a business trip, and not checking my email frequently. Turns out my PM inbox was full, so I could not receive any PMs. So if anyone tried to PM me since the move to the new server, please try again. ALSO, swap participants, please SUBSCRIBE to this thread; it will be my primary way of communicating with the entire group. If you SUBSCRIBE you'll get notices when the board has been updated. I THINK.

Cranberry Cabin (and anyone else interested): yes, there is still room; the swap is open to new signups until 15 December).

I'm still on my business trip, so for those of you who have not yet been assigned swap partners, please be patient. I'll get my act together after getting home next week.

I really like this board right now. You can post pictures so easily. Here is a Scrappy Heart quilt I made for my granddaughter. This was one of the many classes I have taken from LQS

I am playing with the different ways to do things on the board.

Most likely the other quilter's box is full or yours is. Mine was way too full. We are limited to 500 pm. In an attempt to delete pm-s I accidentally deleted all pm so I lost all info on the swaps I was in plus a lot of messages I had wanted to keep but people can now pm me. So if you need to see if your pm works and want to pm some one, my box is has plenty of space and is receiving.

It is nice people are finding aspects about the new board they like.

dltaylor 11-05-2011 06:48 AM

wow that is a wide range of states!! This is gonna be fun! My daughter and son are moving back out next week, so I will have more me time to start my quilt...I can't wait!!

grandme26 11-05-2011 08:42 AM

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...hotobucket.gifYou have to be able to learn new ways or you just sit there while others go around you and have fun. I am so happy I can now use my photobucket pictures now.

I know which blocks I am going to do and have a list of all the supplies I need, and the time schedule needed to do the blocks. Think I will go out in a little bit and get the fabric I need. Can you tell I am a little excited.

Have a great weekend.

Painiacs 11-05-2011 11:07 AM

How much time?

Painiacs 11-05-2011 11:14 AM

Cranberry Cabin 11-05-2011 11:22 AM

Annaquilts, I got it. Her inbox was full. Thanks though.

jillaine 11-06-2011 11:45 AM

Are we all here now? I've reduced the contents of my message boxes, so i should be able to receive PMs now.
Sewnmom, welcome. I'm out of town right now (the very week they make the change to the new board software!) but I'll resume making matches in a few days when I'm home.

What's up with that strip down the middle!?! :-)

I really like the map. I hope by the time everyone signs up you can update it. This is lots of fun. I can't wait to see all the quilts posted. A long time to go but I love having time to plan and complete the quilt for my partner.

JenGaile 11-08-2011 11:12 AM

I really want to join this swap. I hope there is room for one more :)

Cranberry Cabin 11-08-2011 12:13 PM

I'm really glad to be part of this swap! I can't wait to find out who my partner is & get to know her through here. I'm really glad the quilts don't have to be done until July! Gives me time to get my holiday stuff done before I focus on something new. I hope you all have a fabulously wonderful time creating your treasures! Won't it be fun to receive a quilt made just for you?

Foxflower 11-08-2011 12:24 PM

I've been lurking, but I think I want to join also. I'll PM you hostess:o

jillaine 11-08-2011 05:42 PM

Yes, i will update the map. I was out of town for over a week and am still catching up. IMPORTANT: The swap remains open to new participants until 15 December 2011. You have until 1 July 2012 to complete the quilt for your partner. For those of you who have not been "matched" yet, please be patient. I have some catching up to do. ALSO: If you are participating, please "subscribe" to this thread as it will be the primary way for me to communicate with all participants.

oh one more thing: we are now up to 41 (that's FORTY-ONE!) participants. So we need at least one more. (We always need an even number.) Can you believe it?!! FORTY ONE QUILTS FOR QUILTERS. I'm so excited!!!

-- Jillaine

jillaine 11-08-2011 06:03 PM

Folks, I've posted conflicting information about the due date. The correct date is as recorded in the opening topic. Completed quilts are due to your partners by the FIRST of July 2012. Apologies for any confusion. -- Jillaine

fabric_fancy 11-08-2011 07:17 PM

greetings all

i've found the new forum location and have been in contact with my swap partner at this new location.

it will take me a few to get used to the new set up but i wanted you all to know i'm here!!

watterstide 11-09-2011 03:44 AM

Wow! 40+ swappers! Exciting!
I wanted to make a few suggestions..Once the sign up date is here, a list of those participating should be posted,on a new thread maybe? Updates from swappers mandatory also. Shipping confirmation numbers are a must!
I found the pattern i am going to use a few days ago..now thinking on fabrics! yippee!
There are soooo many patterns and ideas on line that are free...!

jillaine 11-09-2011 06:09 AM

Kim,

Yes, once 15 December has passed and all participants are partnered, I will post a list. (Normally this would be on the Swap Project page, but that functionality does not appear to have transferred over to the new site.) In the meantime, we will continue to use THIS topic for updates, including sharing our work. I hesitate to create a new topic because, well, it's just not so easy to find topics on this new site. So again, please "subscribe" to this topic if you're participating.

I will also update the map on December 15.

I still have a few more people to match (from the current sign-ups), and we're still at an odd number, so we need at least one more. If you know someone who might be interested, please send them this way!

I wonder who the first person will be to post a photo of their quilt4quilter project! ;-)
(Don't do it if your partner wants to be surprised!!!)

lindy-2 11-09-2011 11:16 AM

ive started peicing the quilt for my partner i like the colours she picked i might have to make a few extra blocks and make a wall hanging for myself. im having alot off fun with this. anybody else started yet?

JenGaile 11-09-2011 11:27 AM

Received my partner's name this morning. I sent her a private message so we could get to know each other and talk about what we would like in our quilts. I think I already have the pattern figured out, just want to see if she has any color preferences. This is so exciting!

jillaine 11-09-2011 11:35 AM

BIG GRIN!!! So excited!
