Now Mary how do you make a fall theme out of denim? curiosity is going to get me now.. and some people are reusing items ie the potholders are becoming a wall hanging (disassembled of course). I know in the dq wall hangings you can use different fabrics and embelleshments (beads, buttons).. you should show us a picture now that you have teased us with your art quilt idea... (come one hurry up .. waiting.. waiting...)

Using the potholders actually came to me because I only use oven mitts but could only find sets that included potholders. I also have some very cool autumn fabric with grapes in it that I think will work as well.
Ube that block is terrific. I hate paper piecing but I do like the effect. I might try again.... Turkeys are fun but I personally like chickens!!! |
Hello, group. I would like to sign up for the October due wall hanging. I'm thinking fall/ Thanksgiving. I'm ready for crisp air verses the 90% humidity. I love the fall time of year and the wall hanging can transport me in mind.

Testing ..1..2..3...flop!
I used leftovers from a quilt I made to see about a wall hanging. Really really need a grape circle behind the girl so she stands out. Oh well next possibility.... PS Your turkeys are visiting me! We have a flamingo in the front garden and a turkey with his tail displayed and all puffed up was caught flirting with the flamingo!! |
Your little girl is adorable even on that background. Suggesion for standing out would be to do some black blanket stitch. Would that not bring her out from the background?
|
Well Applique....I absolutely love it! What's not to like? yes maybe some outline stitching....maybe not black blanket all the way around...but maybe darker versions of the corresponding colors. But truly it is lovely just the way it is!

@ post # 94: Applique, I like your idea. If you want to get her to stand out a bit more, may I suggest, if you can lift the lower edges of her and other areas where there would be natural shadows and add some slivers of gray tones to add some depth. If you can't lift the material, just cut it and lay it against the edge of the material of the arms and torso and legs. She is going to be really cute as she becomes more detailed. Look at some pictures that show shadows and watch where light and dark fall.
