Hello Ladies,
I've sent a PM to Rhonda about joining this swap. I've got a wall hanging almost completed, all except for the hanging sleeve on the back. Then it'll be ready to ship.

The wall hanging is in many shades of purple, lavender, lilac, & white..... I hope there is someone out three that like these colors,!!! :)

Now that I am caught up on BOMs through March (I think), I am committed to getting this one completed. It is all pieced and set . Thought I had batting. Guess I will be making a much needed trip to The Fabric Shop on Monday!

Here is a sneak peek...

Finished it will measure 20'x20'.

DebJ 02-03-2013 10:37 AM

Well I am at my church but still don't think I'll get to post a picture as the website will only allow for quick reply instead of a regular reply. Bummer!:(

nancia 02-05-2013 04:36 AM

laquita-- all sorts of purple are popular with this crowd! never fear, it will make any number of us happy! 8-)

grann of 6 02-06-2013 04:26 AM

I am porgressing with mine. I finally have all the embroidery done, now just have to put it together. I may post a pic later on.

queenof2802 02-06-2013 05:40 AM

I forgot The Fabric Shoppe was closed on Mondays. Yesterday is my long day at work. I was scheduled to work 9-8. Usually on those days, I go out to eat for lunch, yesterday was no different. Going to take my lunch to go today. I am supposed to get off work at 2 since I worked 1/2 day on Sat, but I am not sure if that will happen. Two of the other ladies are out today for health issues. We will just have to see.

Enjoy your day!

Elisabrat 02-06-2013 06:27 AM

morning everyone! just popping in to say hello! I was at a fabric shop the other day Bearly Quilting in Sonora and they had this wall hanging kit. Actually a group of them.. but this caught my eye. It was the side profile of a bunny. fusible applique. like a standing chocolate bunny side profile. He had a egg in his hand. That was it some pretty striped pastel going all around it and I was so close to buying it but thought oh heck you can make it simple enough bunny. patterns like free on the net. But I have to say it was so cute. would be a grand wall hanging for easter and might be next on the wall hanging list for me. I couldnt justify 22.00 for a 12 W x 18 long piece of fabric lol. I think I also need to make a cactus wall hanging. the idea just came to me and its perfect for a western or cinco de mayo wall hanging. with some chili peppers and maybe a pot at the base like those old fifties tablecloths have.. yup that would be cool. and I havent even had my coffee yet its still brewing!

marytoddliz 02-06-2013 10:38 AM

I have mine finished but not sure where it is, might be in California, or Oregon, but it is not with me here in Washington. But I am pretty sure it is some where on the west coast! I love the horses L2, very very nice!

I am really enjoying the wall hangings table toppers and mug rugs, and to think I used to just make Huge things! small is great!

Just saw this thread.Would you make the sq in a sq for center block,or is it easier to do the 1/2 sq triangles? Just wondering.....

The Boston Block - sew two pieces of fabric together. Trim one edge sew on a third piece to the bottom. Cut out hte center with a template and tada!! You have a Boston Block. Make as many you need in the colors you need and sew 6 rows of 6 blocks per row and you have a quilt block!!

I have several shortcut blocks that are not hard todo just have a couple more steps or so.
I also have a couple of other ways to cut this that doesn't have as much leftover fabric. I reuse any leftovers when I use this method so no waste.

Well in my opinion it is easier to do the half square triangles. because if you are making the quilt block with hsts if you use a diff method for hte center then your accuracy may be changed. I find it easier to match hst to hst than to try to get the center cut the correct size to match the hsts that you would be sewing to the center.

when I sew a quilt block like this one together I sew 4 hsts into a 4 patch and then sew the 4 patches together. If you use a dif method for the center your 4 patches may not be the same size.

but it is up to you as to what you find easier to do. there really isn't any wrong way to do it. Just what you prefer.

Everose 02-10-2013 07:33 AM

Greetings to everyone! Yes I am still here, haven't posted or been on QB since Mom passed away in December. But slowly getting back to life. I made my first block yesterday and it really did turn out nice. It is a "dancing square". Found the pattern in an old book and it called my name. So I will have my wall hanging done and ready to send unless another emergency comes along.

Happy quilting!

queenof2802 02-10-2013 12:01 PM

Sorry to hear about your mom's passing Everose. Sending{{ hugs}} your way.

I have my quilt on the frame ready to start quilting this evening when I get back from the grocery. It is raining here, so that will be help the afternoon. Have several movies pick out to watch (listen to) while I stitch. I still hand quilt, just haven't broke down and invested in a long arm and as far as I know there isn't anyone in the area that does it for the public. Guess I could ask at the LQS but just prefer to do it myself.

Elisabrat 02-10-2013 01:54 PM

I find a lot of joy in the little projects we do. A quilt is a lovely time honored item no doubt but at times just a little project provides such a sense of joy and accomplishment (big part) and that is what keeps me quilting. little things instant gratification and lots of TADA moments vs just one or two big ones a year. I like the excitement of new. new ideas, new concepts, new color palates it all is fun.

I love what I am seeing cant wait to trade. Mine is easter *like and think yellow gingham, pink and lavender gingham as the main players.. soft and pretty :) if you like holidays this might work for you . not too much longer now. got my turned in name via PM to Rhonda so hope you do too and are included in the finished list for swapping. yahoooo! thank you Rhonda so much for running this and also the scrappy swap and even the block of the week quilt along. You certainly keep busy!

Rhonda 02-14-2013 11:22 AM

Thanks Linda I enjoy the hosting.

Just wanted to see how everyone is doing!! Only 2 weeks left til mailing date!!

JuneBillie 02-15-2013 01:27 PM

I am going very slow, and I think I am trying to make it too hard on just doing it. lol....I have been helping my dad too, and I will have mine done on time, because my 80 year old dad is having knee replacement surgery soon, and I live right next to him, so I will be helping him all I can.

I think I am going to include a good bit of embroidery in mine too if all goes well. I hope to start some of that tonight.

Take care everyone. Happy sewing/quilting!!

Little RoO 02-15-2013 02:23 PM

I have done the top and am going to sandwich it all together tonight and spend the weekend quilting it.....not perfect by any means but has been really good fun...and something a bit different for me.

plainpat 02-15-2013 05:17 PM

Finally found your post Thanks for the reply.I can see what you mean & think you are right.Easier to keep measurement closer, when using same blocks. Hadn't thought of that.

Mine will by no means be perfect, but I do enjoy trying to sew just a little bit better, and hope to accomplish some step of it a little bit better than before.
