Good Morning Wanda Lou. I hope your shoulder surgery was a success and that you are well on your way to full recovery. Will be excited to see your center!

Hi Ssnare, I think we are moving along in tandem with the other groups. Now that school is starting for most kids and summer is on the tail end, I bet we see a ramp up in all of the groups! :)

Hi. Sorry I have been absent for awhile. Been busy. My finger is almost healed, so quilting is in my near future. I will start wearing a glove from now on. That was one painful experience. Looking forward to seeing some of the tops as they get started.

Okay ladies....sorry I have been remiss in getting my project posted! It is such a lot of steps for me to get posted, so I procrastinate. :D But here are the pics with story to follow:

Okay, here's the story: In past RR's i had used left over blocks from my Grandmas quilting. She died in 1994. but this time around.....and it has been YEARS since I have played in a RR, I didn't have any leftover blocks. I was trying to figure out what I was gonna make for this RR and was really struggling. Well......I work at a LQS and we have a big bin that quilters can drop their scraps off in and we send them to the local animal shelter to make beds. Now mind you I am not in the habit of digging through this bin, lol! But the day I worked, I walked past it and here lying on the top of the bin heap was this block and another block I will post later. Well they were just way to awesome to go in a doggie bed and we send 100's of lbs. to the shelters so I asked my boss....can I take these two blocks? Yep was the answer and I snatched 'em! Well that same day I bought a grab bag of scraps from the store cause I like to add variety to my stash, lol! Would you believe that deep maroon that shows in the picture is what was in that grab bag? I was was worrying about being able to match fabrics since this is obviously a block made with older fabrics, possibly early 2000's. Then unbelievably I had ordered some fabrics from Fabric.com (love that place!) and it arrived the day after bringing these lovelies home. Oh my gosh! the fabric with the little squares that I had bought on clearance went beautifully with this. AND I found the other fabric in my stash. So ladies, I have got the start of a great RR quilt here!

I need your opinion though......what do you think? Should the green be added as corners before adding a thin border of the maroon or should I just add the maroon? I LOVE repurposing old blocks so I am very excited about this!
I will be sending the extra fabric with.....including that green you can see peeking out if not used for corners. :)
Let me know your opinions!

Cogito 08-23-2013 09:33 AM

Forgot to say the block is about 161/2"

Difergie 08-23-2013 11:46 AM

I like it with out the green corners best..but both ways look great! Imho

zzmom 08-24-2013 06:54 AM

Hi Cognito-
Great story about your center block! I guess it was fate at work:) I like it with the green corners added. It ties in well with the green in the block. Great block! Thanks for sharing your photo's. I am very close to finishing mine and will post a picture of it when it is done. It didn't quite turn out the way I had imagined, but I like it well enough!

This is my center block for our Round Robin. I had hoped to spell a word out with the letters but I didn't quite pick the right pattern for that to happen. I love the colors in these fabrics but wish the HST had shown up better. Oh well, I'm sure it will look just fine with its continued growth and development from all of you lovely quilters! As they say, "its a work in progress1":) It measures 24 1/2".

Difergie 08-25-2013 10:00 AM

Love it!.....

Cogito 08-25-2013 03:48 PM

Awesome zzmom!

Cogito 08-25-2013 03:58 PM

Scaroca and Wanda Lou, how are you two doing? Are you healing and anxious to get quilting again?

We miss you too! Keep doing your PT....you WILL get better. Yep, sometimes it just takes time. Take care! There's no rush, you still have plenty of time to get started. :)

Good morning ROCKIN Robins. Hope you all have a great Labor Day planned. I'm just checking in.....have been vacationing with my hubby the past 10 days so no quilting. I will have my finished center ready to go this week. How about everyone else? I believe DiFergie and zzmom are also done. How are scaroca and WandaLou doing? I know you two had a late start....are you making any headway? Share your progress with us. :)

scaroca 09-08-2013 05:58 AM

I am planning on finishing my center today. It is a simple block so it wont take long.

the colors did not show up very well but you get the idea of what it looks like. It is 18 1/2 inches

Difergie 09-08-2013 11:33 AM

Could not pull it up

Cogito 09-08-2013 01:46 PM

Hi Scaroca,
Can you post directly in this thread? We cannot see your link.

scaroca 09-08-2013 04:23 PM

I don't know how to do that. sorry

Cogito 09-09-2013 08:05 AM

Scaroca, when you type your messages into the "quick reply" box at the bottom of our posts, there are some little icons or "pictures" just above where you are typing. To the right of the smiley face are two that look like little planets and then just to the right of the planet with the red X is the "insert image" one that looks like a "wonky square". When you hover your mouse over that, it should pop up and say "insert image". Click on that one and a box will pop up. Be sure to click on the "from computer" with your mouse. This will allow you to "add an image from your computer" Select "choose file" and a window will open that allows you to "browse" to where you have the pictures stored you took of your wallhanging, etc. If you are unsure where you have saved them on you computer, you might first find the pictures and save them to your desktop. That is the easiest place for me to find them when I am ready to insert them into my reply on QB. Once you have selected the picture you want to "insert" into your posting, then be sure to select "upload files". You should be able to see the title of the photo you chose just to the right of the "choose file" before you select the "upload file" button. hope this helps! Let me know if it doesn't. You could send them to me (I will send you my email address in a pm if we need to go that route) and I will upload them for you. we all wanna see! :)

wanda lou 09-11-2013 11:27 PM

I guys.. still in physical therapy but doing much better.
How is everyone?

Cogito 09-12-2013 05:59 AM

Working right along....have multiple projects going, lol! Have you been able to even start wanda lou? I can't believe the deadline to mail is only 2 weeks away!!!! Yikes, I gotta get moving!

Difergie 09-12-2013 06:54 AM

I am good...waiting to mail!

zzmom 09-13-2013 07:09 PM

I'm still here, haven't forgotten you all! I am ready to go with mailing my center whenever the time is right. I am busy working on other quilts. Wanda Lou hope your healing well:)

scaroca 09-20-2013 04:12 AM

Ok I am ready to mail too, but I can not seem to find the list of who I mail to. So If someone could let me know so I can get that address I would appreciate it. I printed the list out so I would be able to find it and now I lost the list. Good grief I didn't think I was that old but I guess I am.

Nexxus831 09-20-2013 10:21 AM

Themamahauser will be available tomorrow to send you that information if someone doesn't send it to you before

Hi Everyone,
We have had someone who had to drop out of the Round Robin. We are looking for someone who can replace this person. Do you or do you know someone who would like to do this? It is just a group of five and the mailing is every other month. Please drop an email to TheMamaHauser and she will get you all signed up. You can drop me an email also and I can help answer any questions you might have.
Thanks so much,
Nexxus831

zzmom 09-20-2013 07:20 PM

Scaroca-I sent you a pm with the list of addresses. Hopefully you got it.
