So I got my row done last night, a whole five days before the deadline! *grin* That's, like, unheard of. Deadlines are my blood. *grin*
This row was an adventure in applique; I've never really done any applique before (except for appliqueing English-paper-pieced things onto a background, but that's not the same), but it stuck in my head for this row idea, and I'm glad I tried. Overall, it went more quickly and smoothly than I expected. The stiff fabric was actually the easiest to sew down, which taught me that next time I'll starch the bejeebers out of a fabric before I sit down to sew. Only one block didn't really work; it looks like Cthullhu instead of the Parthenon, and it ate up some of the background fabric and thereby made the block all wonky. I may have to rip it off and redo it if it stays too wonky even with the sashing on. But that's a problem for another day. Most likely it will go out in the mail tomorrow, hooray! I'll send along a square of blank fabric for signatures: I'll make a label at the end with all the pertinent info, and then sew the signature block underneath it. |
Can we see pictures? Please, Pretty PLEASE

Well, it appears it came out at an angle even though I stood on a chair, but hey. :)
These are all places I've been: the Space Needle (of course), a pink-looking cathedral in Spain (I actually had the proper pink fabric set aside, but by the time I remembered, I had the cathedral all sewn down in this ridiculous pink and didn't want to tear it off), some Irish sheep, the Parthenon, and the Eiffel Tower... which is not as cool as the Space Needle. *grin* |
o I LOVE IT ! that is so awesome

Wow our blocks look great and I think this challenge is really making us think and will be so much fun. So glad you recieved my block. I finally was able to get all the paper off the label and will finish it and send it on soon. I wonder if I want to not see my rows till done and be surprised. I'll let you all know, soon.
|
They all look so different, which is what makes the whole thing fun. :)
And actually, I made it to the mailbox in time today, so my strip should be to Texas within the week(ish)! |
I can't wait, I am sooo excited, I was prepared to wait tho, I do understand everybody has to work and stuff. LOL but I'm very glad I don't have to
|
would you rather we didn't sew them together at all? and just give us a heads up when you get to the PO and no hurry, we'd rather you be safe

I'll get my box in the mail as soon as life resumes here in Arkansas. Thanks again for the compliments. |
Saritabee, I got your row today, and I love the fabrics you used, and it looks like all of the fabrics I bought will work (color wise), I'm going to pull the patterns I had picked out for your rows and see how they will work, I'm going to do the 2 with embroidery first
|
Just popping over from 3's a Charm and all your rows are great looking. I love the one about places you've been. I need to do that someday.

Well, I just read the message from the hostess about how all the rows need to be sewn together, so I guess I'll request the extra-large basting stitch like booklady. Because I feel like this one really needs a coordinated sashing...
|
yes I read that while I was at the restaraunt for lunch and was going to ask you how you would like that handled, I agree with you that it will look great with some kind of border, but hard to tell what border till you see them all. Mine was easy because dark brown is pretty generic and will go with just about any autumn color lol

has everyone received their second row? I've got Saritabee's hanging on the design wall and I've pulled all the fabrics that I want to use on it, so far the only one I'm going to change is the solid for the embroidery. I think I want a little bit darker on the cream almost to a tan. Sara, I love the different fabrics you used. I like the way the different textures feel.

Working on Booklady's row. Well I have only 1 block done but that's a start right?! This row will be a test of my scrap bins. I haven't been quilting long so I don't have scrap tubs like some. I'm having a ball looking for block patterns for it. Just so I don't mess up I need a reminder of who does and doesn't want to see pics of their quilts. Hope everyone is having fun!

I think Saritabee is the only one that wants hers to be a surprise, unless Robbi24 wants to wait also?
|
Good morning, it's been a while, I'm sure we're all busy working and sewing lol. How is everyone coming on their second rows? I have the blocks and fabric chosen. Plan on starting the actual sewing after I finish the 30 bags for my sister, lol some day I will learn how to say NO. since they need to be in the mail by Friday I should be finished by then. Very excited to start on Saritabee's row.
|
I finished my first block for Saritabee's row, I love it so I hope she likes it lol. I actually made the middle block of my row first and then I will work out from there lol
|
well I got the fabric cut out for the other 4 blocks, Friday I hope to start sewing them up, tomorrow I'm going to start the embroidery work for the two. I'm hoping to be able to get them in the mail by April 1st. How is everybody doing?
Once I get some more done I will send pictures privately to the next in line to receive it, just so you can have a heads up of whats being done |
So many patterns going round and round in my head ,but I picked the first 2, so here I go off to sew some tonight. Trying very hard to clean up the mess but never ever seems to go away. Yes I want to see my quilt as it is being made. So I better get going. Later Ladies.
|

|
Wow love the colors, is that paper pieced or what ? I better get busy lol
|
love the brightness of the colors and love the house pattern
|
OK, I have all the blocks done and ready to be put together and added to the first row. If I remember correctly, Booklady just wants them sewn together with a large basting stitch. I will post a pic when finished. Can't wait to see what everyone else has done so far!
