Cooky, thank you for trying to explain the hole to me... There's a lot of banter in this thread that I just don't 'get'... I've read complaints that people's SS partner doesn't post in this thread. Maybe they don't understand the banter!

Me?? Me?? Me?? But there are a few of us here in the hole and on the train at the same time. Does that mean we get twice as much done??? Or half as much?

CookyIN The hot buttered rum would have been nice last night, sigh... but I was sewing on the train, need to keep those seams straight. Maybe tonight after our meetings.

CookyIN 10-14-2014 04:38 AM

Knitette, that is too funny!

Dedemac, if you don't show up tonight, I'll drink yours for you (just doing my part to ensure straight seams).

sewbizgirl, we're a friendly bunch and people don't have to jump in the hole to post here. They could post to drop a hint to their Santee or to talk about what they're buying or making for their Santee or just about what they're doing offline. Some people just don't post for whatever reason.

Bullock2us 10-14-2014 04:51 AM

Hint for the day.

Your state is famous for rattlesnakes.

Here's a hint for reading the posts.

If you post after you read the newest posts, you can look for your last post and know you need to read from there. Does that make sense to anyone?

I thought Arizona had the largest number of rattlesnake species of all of the states. Could you be sending to someone in your own state?

Or, is it me? lol

I need a notebook to keep track of all of the hints and who made them!

I will give you another description of the "hole" in the hopes of helping you understand. (I sometimes have trouble "getting it" too.) when the secret santas were teasing each other someone said "into the hole with you", meaning they should disappear into a big hole in the back yard, for teasing people. Someone else decided that all the best people were getting "thrown in to the hole" so he/she decided that the hole was the best place to hang out, and it has become the imaginary party place while we wait for opening day. (Kind of like the old joke about "I don't want to go to heaven, because all the more interesting people will be in Hell!") I hope this makes it clearer? BTW- welcome to the hole, you had to be down here with the rest of us to get an answer to your question, lol!

madamekelly 10-14-2014 08:55 AM

Answers to more questions-
yes, I love buttons
colorful zippers are cool.
Do not want wonder clips.
I drink coffe hot, and iced tea, but in the winter I like hot tea with milk, so no fruit teas (curdled milk in your tea is so not right)
I have never collected holiday themed items, so no thank you.
i would love an embroidered book mark.
i have no grandkids that I can contact, so I borrow them from my friends.
I put up my white 6' Vhristmas tree evry year, and decorate the house with all different sizes of poinsettas.
yes I like hand made ornaments.
I have a leakproof travel cup, and water bottle, do not need more, thanks.
Hmmmm, organize fabric, can you do that? Haha! I have different drawers for my fabric colors and fabric content.

CarolinePaj 10-14-2014 09:22 AM

Throw it in... throw it in!

Hugs

I am having a hard time figuring out what to put into my box. I have not seen any postings from my pick and have only learned a very little bit about her. Since this is my first year I will take some suggestions from all these postings and hopefully she will like what I send. Oh, and my name has an M in it, I like the Santa figure that looks like it is on some fabric, I will probably have a warm Christmas, I am not that far from Mickey..... looks like a lot of you may have my name!!!! Next year I will plan ahead and start collection goodies early!! See you all in the hole, I am ready to jump back in!

Well, if the questionnaire they submitted to Terri when signing up didn't list much, then I have to figure they want anything and everything. In other words, you can't go wrong. Just put what you like into the box and chances are they will to.

On a side note, I think many are hesitant to put much on that questionnaire because they don't want to appear greedy. When in truth, the more info and likes they list make it sooooo much easier for their Santa to shop. And much more fun because they're almost guaranteed of making the recipient happy.

CookyIN 10-14-2014 09:47 AM

Neesie, if you're my SS please throw that adorable Santa Claus into my package!

It does make shopping extra hard (and not nearly as much fun), when one's Secret Santee never posts. :( Since the person doesn't seem interested in sharing our banter along with likes/dislikes, I would assume he/she will be happy to get just about anything. About the best you can do is to fill the box with things that would make you happy to receive . . . unless of course, that includes something truly bizarre! :D

Whoever your Santaee is would love a cute Santa fabric like that; who wouldn't!

By the way there is a special treat in the hole with your name on it; you can share if you like.

IrishgalfromNJ 10-14-2014 10:23 AM

Neesie, I love that Santa Claus fabric. He is super sweet and he has lots of presents in his sack. Please send him to me.

BrendaK 10-14-2014 10:46 AM

My sendee has not posted anything either. Hopefully what I send she will like better than the person I sent to two years ago. Last year I noticed that that person sent a lot of the things I sent her to someone else, (who did seem to like them). So I was a little nervous about what to send this year. Does it matter what size box we send our things in? The box I have now is just too small. I hope I am not going overboard because of the previous years experience but I so want them to like something of what I sent. Oh well I am having fun getting the things together. Can I come to the hole and jump in? PLEASE. BrendaK

Oh Brenda, don't let your experience with that person influence what you choose to do this year. I probably would have had hurt feelings if someone did that with the things I sent her. If the person she sent them to loved them and put them to use, then all the better. Who knows maybe times got hard and your nice things made her able to participate.
