She loves Moda (who doesn't???) so thought I'd use some charm squares from the Lario collection. It's my first go at this pattern and might make another better one. I ended up making a yo-yo for the center because I didn't have any buttons large enough to cover the center (another reason to make another one).

Ok....this weeks question...

How many states have I lived in? Yes, territories count.
And for extra credit...name them.
You don't have to do the extra credit if you don't want to.
But....you get a bonus if you get both right.

dfelker 10-20-2014 02:19 PM

My guess is 7 states!

PenniF 10-20-2014 02:44 PM

Terri..........you're making my brain hurt !!!!!!!:p

roseirish48 10-20-2014 03:05 PM

spent the morning getting started on another project for my ss' box. Had to stop for bingo ( i won $18.00) so came out $6.00 to the good. will be having one item directly mailed to her house and hope it doesnt arrive before opening day as no way to mark it as "secret santa " stuff.
Now if i would get busy and get my butt in gear and start wrapping, i could maybe get this box into the mail. Anybody have an idea on how to keep ladybugs in the box?

As much as I love ladybugs, they have invaded my house this past week and they are driving the poor cats insane !!

ShelleyCS 10-20-2014 04:04 PM

I love Moda! Gorgeous! But for my giftee, I have some lovely Northcott, that I think you will love. Also a few little goodies.

Came home Friday after work and my laptop was on the kitchen floor . . . and the battery was in the yard. Puppy one. Computer 0. Took me the weekend to "glue" it back together and I got it to finally work today (as long as the machine is plugged in. Don't think the battery made it.)

I'll take one of all the homemade things displayed . . . please. They are all beautiful.

My SS hint: You don't have to worry about a puppy destroying your computer.

Hi all, Sorry for not posting more however health and home issues have been in the way. I have my name and ohhhh this is going to be sooooooooooooo much fun. As for me? Well I'm a tad tickey! I dislike green especially drab olive green for which I have reasons. As for reading I have no time for that but when I do it is always books. Don't have all those new gadgets. I'm a big time quilter but I don't do applique. That has found the circular file so many times that I have given up on it. I do paper piecing, regular piecing and I try to think outside the box so always like new ideas. I do table runners and I do have an embroidery machine that I'm still learning and of course I already want a bigger one. Always looking for 1 gig flash drives for it. Been trying to diet but with the holidays coming the diet is going for a walk instead of me. Love both dark and milk chocolate. Reeces PB cups are a fav. I also make jewelry and do counted cross stitch. I'm limited on that due to eyes but I still do it. I've really been getting more into batiks recently but the light ones are more difficult to find. As for scraps and fat quarters you never have enough of those. Also love the white and black honey buns. They are hard to find and can only find them on-line. Our shops are difficult and don't carry tons of stuff. I'm always running out of white on white fabric and solids. Okay I think I'm getting carried away here. Oh love coffee. No hard nuts as I can't digest those not an allergy just problems chewing them.

sew diva 10-20-2014 05:38 PM

I forgot to add that I do like pastels and brights. Autumn fabrics okay but don't do seasonal stuff. I don't do country well either as my stash is not geared towards that. Okay this is really it. LOL!!! Oh heck just send me all your fabric and I'll use it I promise. LOL

GrammyJ, I found out yesterday morning that my mother's cancer has come back as well, and that is what caused all of the blood clots that landed her in the hospital. Don't know if it is new ovarian or breast cancer that came back and has moved, will know more when the rest of the scans are in. She's been stuck in the hospital for 11 days, and is more than ready to come home! Will pray for your husband. This is the third time we've been through this in my family (Mom in 2003, Dad in 2013, and now Mom again) so I have to have genetic testing and other things.

Going to work in the evenings to get my homemade stuff done so I can get my box off to my Santee before we start the chemo regime! Clue: My partner lives somewhere in the same region I do!

Patchesnposies 10-20-2014 07:27 PM

Quiltindragon, I am adding you and your mom to the list of folks that are in my prayers. The things I considered heavy burdens in this life are mere inconveniences compared to the adversity some are going through. Cyber Hugs to you both.

Since this surely applies to everyone here, I've embroidered and framed it. It now hangs above the fireplace (where "normal" folks might display the sentiment Home Sweet Home) in the hole for all to enjoy.

The fireplace is a new addition to the hole, all the better for enjoying our libations on these chilly evenings. Cabana boy and the butler will be tending it. I've already talked to them about having a Yule Log blazing during Opening Day.

Now, who wants to join me fireside for coffee with a splash of coconut rum?

tlrnhi 10-21-2014 03:59 AM

make sure you PM me your answers. Sometimes I don't always see the answers on here and you don't want me to overlook you just in case you may have the answer right.

Just spent the last couple of hours getting caught up. My prayers and thoughts are going out to all of you that are suffering illnesses and bad news about their families and friends.
I have a couple of things to finish up with and my ss box will be finished. All the gifts that have been posted are all so nice. I have made a couple of things, pot holders and a mug rug. There are a couple of other things I would like her to have, if I have the time I will make them also.
Did I mention that my ss receiver is west of me? Hmmm, maybe northwest, guess I'll have to look again. Been too busy to visit the hole lately, be glad when I can take the time to relax. That fireplace sounds so inviting.
Well, nice chatting, my sewing room is calling..................

Here's the handmade gift I'm sending to my 'pal'... it holds crochet hooks!

mjmachin 10-21-2014 10:47 AM

My prayers go out to all who are suffering with health and personal trials. It is so hard when there is nothing we can do to help even tho we would do anything to releave their suffering. Please know this group of quilters is always here to lean on and pray for you.

It's beautiful!!! I crochet and my hook case is wearing very thin. Is it me? Is it ME??? :)

IrishgalfromNJ 10-21-2014 11:27 AM

Oooh, potholders, pin cushions, and crochet hook rolls. I love them all. What great homemade gifts for your partners.

My shopping is all done. I just have to get all my items ready for wrapping (removing price tags and ironing gifted stash fabrics). Once it's all wrapped, it will be boxed and shipped.

Now to get the energy to get it to the postoffice.

happylab 10-21-2014 03:19 PM

I missed a lot, over 20 pages worth to catch up on b/c; I got busy with work and life and in between I went on a 4 state, 10 store, quilting shop hop bus trip. I picked up several items for my Santee. Now to go through my stash to see what else I can pack in her box. Unsure if I will have time to make a personal item. I'm debating between a 12 inch wall hanging or pin coushion.

My monthly hint, just joking. My Santee post on this thread and quilts. LOL. Sorry couldn't resist. Back to work for 3 days. Will give another hint then.

My Secret Santee box is almost finished but because I spent most of the $$ limit on the main gift, it doesn't look like much. :( I guess that can be a hint. :D Will try to find a few other little things, to make the unwrapping more fun. :)

mmac71 10-21-2014 04:39 PM

My SS package is mailed off today! If it gets there toooooo early, just hide it in a closet! My SS lives many miles and an ocean away.....

marilyn43 10-21-2014 05:47 PM

PenniF. I live in Ne. and yes I thought too that we had lady bugs that bite. My granddaughters fiancé is one of those horticulture specialist ( I think that's what is profession is) but he told me they were called Asian lady bugs and they really pinch when they bite. So maybe that's what you have too. They look just like a lady bug but aren't as red, they have a bit of orange in them. I know it sure ruins any working outside. I agree if you can't trust a ladybug who can you trust? lol.

sewbizgirl 10-21-2014 06:43 PM

I love the rows of rick rack on that ladybug apron! Very "retro"!

PenniF 10-21-2014 06:43 PM

Thanks for the info marilyn43.....most people look at me like i'm nutz (ok for lots of other reasons) but when i tell them a ladybug bit me then that confirms my crazy for them !!!!

Love all the great home made gifts i'm seeing.....hope the box they're going into has my address on it!!!!

jaba 10-21-2014 07:49 PM

Finished the last bit of gifts today, it's all boxed and ready to send when I go to the post office.

tlrnhi 10-21-2014 08:15 PM

Ladies!!! Don't forget to PM me when you send/receive!!!

Finally finished one of my handmade SS gifts ! This is the first time I have made a pointy table runner, those non right angled corners sure do take getting used to ! Hoping she likes it! She really likes bright colors and fun prints, so I am hoping she is a Kate Spain fan !
