Received a package in the mail today from bubbles sugar socks. Just wanted to let you know it got here safely and I hear little bells inside. At least I think I do :)
Those carrot cookies sound amazing, just need to add walnuts or pecans and my hubby would be very happy. Going to try them this weekend, thanks for the recipe. I've got a recipe for pumpkin or squash cookies that is very good if you like a soft cookie and it makes 6 dozen at a time. Will post tomorrow so if some of you would like to try them you'll have the recipe. They are yummy and even freeze well. |

I'll have to crawl off to the corner with you. Everyone says they want people to post but the only one who will play with me is Neesie and she has to. I was her SS last year. This is my third or fourth SS but I still feel like an unknown newbie. Last year I told an outrageous story. This year I brought whine and my box is singing to me to open it but I am all but invisible. Don't know what I'm doing wrong but I think I'll go back to lurking.

I stirred with a wooden spoon to keep from burning on bottom. Very addicting

Thank you so much Neesie I love home-baked goodies. I'll be sure to let you know how they taste. Take care all.

This cookie recipe came from another student when I was in school. They were so good that I begged for the recipe.
Chocolate Crinkles 1/2 cup Shortening 1 2/3 cups Granulated sugar 2 teaspoons Vanilla 2 large Eggs 2 1 ounce Melted unsweetened chocolate squares 2 cups Flour 2 teaspoons Baking powder 1/2 teaspoon Salt 1/3 cup Milk 1/2 cup Chopped walnuts, Optional 1. Thoroughly cream shortening, sugar and vanilla 2. Beat eggs into creamed sugar mixture 3. Beat in melted chocolate to creamed sugar mixture 4. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt 5. Alternately add milk and flour mixture to the creamed sugar mixture 6. Add chopped nuts 7. Chill dough for 3 hours 8. Form one inch balls 9. Roll each ball in confectioner's sugar 10. Place onto greased cookie sheet 2 to 3 inches apart 11. Bake 15 minutes at 350 degrees F. Note: These are a crisp cookie, check to make sure they are done before removing from oven. |

I am enjoying reading the chatter. No way I could keep up reading every word but there is just a lot of live & fun floating in the air. Things would be way too quiet here without Princess Smarty Pants- oops- that should be Empress Smarty Pants.
I could mail my box but keep finding bargains that are too tempting. But I will get it mailed on time. Hint to my SS- you're less tham 22 miles from me as the crow flies. I'm one of the true GRITS & we call all soft drinks "coke".- doesn't matter what it is. I grew up mostly in Chattanooga where my grandparents lived & we had the CocaCola bottling plant there so maybe that's why. the Crack-er cookie is one I've been meaning to make for a long while, maybe this season. |
Just hanging out waiting for my box with jingle bells in it. Enjoying all the talk about Pittsburgh, I never knew they were so special on the west side of PA, and also enjoying all the cookie recipes.
|
Ok so I'm going to stick my big toe back in the SS hole and hope no one gets offended by my post.
I was reading the cookie posts and I many or may not have licked my computer screen. I'm just saying I may have. or I might not have.............. only my computer screen knows for sure. Hehe |

Well, not from the burg but from the prairie and we called carbonated drinks pop. Wasn't 'til I came out to west that they call it soda. It is the same where back home dinner is eaten midday and supper is the meal you have in the evenings.
I miss having Runzas. Maybe I'll make a batch to bring to the hole this weekend since it is a by week for the Huskers. But will finish up the box this weekend for sure! |

Yesterday my sister and I went to an outdoor craft show called christmas at the cabin. They sell vintage items and handmade christmas crafts. They also have a outdoor cafe. We ordered our rose harvest soup, hot chocolate and Carmel Apple spice pie and everything was so nice and festive and we were having such a good time until a pea size hail storm struck. There was no place to go short of running to our cars parked out in a field about a hundred yards away. So we oped to just sit there and eat. It was a good thing to that soup and hot chocolate were a little too hot to eat or drink so all that ice really helped cool down our food. It was just a little hurty, that ice stings when it hits you but we preserved and finished. Lol |
I only made sugar cookies and chocolate chip cookies from scratch and I don't do that any more.
I did find this Apple Dump Cake Recipe that sounds really good that I want to share. I may have to make it this weekend to try it out. Apple Dump Cake 2 cans apple pie filling 2 Tbsp. cinnamon 1 box yellow cake mix 2 sticks butter 1 cup pecans, chopped whipped cream or ice cream Dump two cans of apple pie filling into a 9×13 pan. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Crumble dry cake mix over the apple mixture. Sprinkle the pecans over the cake mix. Slice each stick of butter into 12 equal pieces, and place the pieces on top. Cook at 375 degrees for about 45 minutes or until golden brown. |
My secret Santa box came today! Now to keep my hands off till opening day!

Well it may have tasted like chocolate since I was drinking some hot chocolate, with a peppermint candy cane stirrer. I recommend dusting your computer screen frequently, that is if you intend to lick it.
Is this something one should plan, ahead of time? Yesterday my sister and I went to an outdoor craft show called christmas at the cabin. They sell vintage items and handmade christmas crafts. Hi Guys,
just to to let you know I posted my package today, but as I am in England it needs to cross an ocean before it arrives at its destination. hugs Caroline |
no package yet but the furbabies are still on guard duty againt any possible Grinch stealing it from my porch. I spent the day finishing up the ornaments for that swap(will mail out tomorrow if possible)and the fingertip towels for a Xmas present. Also did more quilting on that QOV--completion is well within sight. got pillowcases stamped to embroider for another Xmas gift so hopefully will get started on them tomorrow. Will also get that other quilt back ready for layering so that when QOV is off frame, the Xmas gift quilt will be ready to take its place.
One does manage to get more done when peace and harmony reign. |
