Btiny, I saw the Christmas tree wall hanging at the quilt shop I go to. It is beautiful! I was there for a class so naturally forgot to ask about it. Someone is going to be so happy when they get it in their SS package! Is it ME?
Nessie, I love your mug rug with the leaning tree. You did a great job. And MizMelly, I should of had that MR when I had my tea last night. The cup I used was blue, it would have been perfect.
PenniF, thanks for the reminder, I would have forgot if you hadn't mentioned PMs. I write things down and then forget to look to see what I wrote down!
My santee hasn't said anything about receiving her SS package. I hope everything is ok with her and her family. I am starting to get worried for her.

Oh I love the trees and tea pot and all of the beautiful things being made . I love to read the cookie recipes . What a tasty beautiful holiday this will be.

My SS package was mailed out today. Not going too far from me. I hope she will enjoy all the items I stuffed in the package.

December 7 th is good for me. The earlier the better we are 5 hours ahead of you eastern time so even if you do it at 9am it's 2pm here and those poor Australians how they will have the patience to wait a whole day.

Some lovely things going in the boxes. None for me as I already have my box and it is sitting on top of the piano. I can hear a noise coming from it and it sounds like OPEN ME!!!

Ha, was going to mail my SS package today but it is Veteran's Day! Prayers to those having sickness and family issues. Here is my stuff pre wrapped. Hope it is sufficient. I was so busy with the Senior Quilt for fall festival and some Christmas projects for my mother's shop and some illnesses with me that I wasnt able to make much for her. This was fun though! I wrote a nice long note too.

Quercus Rubra 11-11-2014 11:52 AM

I'm slowly getting my package together for my SS. I haven't been able to do to much shopping before the surgery as I would have liked, but I'm sure my person will understand.

Thank You for all the blessings and prayers from everyone as I'm recovering. I'm was pleasantly surprised for thoses. I'm trying to read all the postings when I have the energy. Who would have thought this would knock me down like it has. There have been some wonderful pictures that would be nice in my home too... so thanks for sharing thoses pictures.

Also Thank You for those who have served our Country on this Veteran's Day.

Hugs to all of us who need them out there.

Tricia

Thanks! There's just something endearing, about crooked trees. :)

PenniF 11-11-2014 12:30 PM

Now Neesie - we may have established you're older and wiser but - mhcpa (Michelle) - i surely do KNOW that just has to be for me.
Every year we'd travel in West Texas - and the cotton fields would have been picked...but there were always a few plants at the very edge of the field that were missed - my hubby would never stop so i could get myself a cotton boll....i just wanted one.....and i see you've added several....so i finally get my wish.

juneayerza 11-11-2014 01:29 PM

Neesie you did a great job on your first PP project and I suspect that your Santee will absolutely love it; just a guess. I really like PP, but your are right there can be some bulky seam junctions. Just like the rest of quilting there aren't any PP Police. I often combine PP and applique to get where I want to be on a project; it saves cuss words and hair pulling when I don't have to take seams out and do over because there is a big knot in the middle of something.

juneayerza 11-11-2014 02:20 PM

Veteran’s Day

As a Veteran, this is my day
However, I have something to say

I was proud to serve this country of yours and mine
Because this land has stood the test of time

We can still choose who we want to be and where we want to be
This country gives us the right and the privilege to be free

It is I who give the thanks

Louise Houghtaling 11-11-2014 02:26 PM

I'm happy to say that I mailed my SS package out yesterday. I didn't want to torture a sister quilter with a terribly long wait until opening day. Okay, if I'm really honest here, I'll admit that it was only ready to go for a few days. Now to settle in to wait for reveal day. Now I'm waiting on Santa's elves to drop something off to me!

Thanks, June! That's what I did with the moon and chimney - just appliqued the pieces. The moon would have been especially ridiculous, as it had sooooo many pieces, to get the crescent shape. Instead, I found a piece of clip art, resized it, then just stitched it into place. I like the look of the appliqued moon better, anyway.

kept watching for mailman all day hoping for a package. Anastasia brought Adam,Shayla and the Brat home from airport and then give me ride to post office so I could mail out packages for another secret santa swap and the ornament swap. Just as we come up to post office, she says "Today is Veteran's Day, the post office wont be open". hadnt even crossed our minds til then. Oh well, tomorrow is another day. At least we didnt get that additional 4" they predicted--just a few swirls and blowing snowing. possibly a few flurries over next few days and about an inch predicted for Saturday. Thats Minnesota for you!

madamekelly 11-11-2014 05:41 PM

Dear Secret Santee, I sent your package with no wrapping paper. My conscience would not let me trade wrapping paper for gifts. Lucky you! You did not give me a lot to go on, but I do hope you are able to use most of it, including the funny shaped silver thing in a silver box....

Dedemac 11-11-2014 06:37 PM

A couple of things left to do before I mail latter in the week. My SS will get a nice full box, hope they will like the stuff I was able to stick in. It seems like life has taken too much of my time this year. There is much more I wanted to make and to add but time is pressing in. The only time I seem to get after work is either a few minutes sewing and time in the hole. Today is Vets day and I went up to our VFW for some SOS (well it was really roast beef and gravy) my SOS is chipped beef and white sauce. It was good but not SOS, I would like to thank all the other vets both female and male for their service. I enjoyed my time in the Navy and look back on it with fond memories.

PenniF 11-11-2014 07:21 PM

Wow Dedemac....your SOS was HIGH CLASS....ours was always cooked ground beef in white gravy - which my mom made from the grease of the hamburger !! I shudder a little thinking about it now, cause grease and i don't get along very well......but I'm not ashamed to say that it was GREAT STUFF !!!

sunrise450 11-12-2014 08:09 AM

+My SOS was the same as yours PenniF, ground beef in white gravy. I don't think I could stomach it now but I remember we really liked it and looked forward to SOS night! hmmm, you do know what SOS stands for?
Haven't got my SS package yet. I think jaba spoiled me last year when she sent my package early!

quilt addict 11-12-2014 08:39 AM

Oh some SOS would have brought back great memories. I had a wonderful day off with some quilting friends in the afternoon. The morning was not so great as it involved a trip to the dentist but just routine cleaning.

Time is slipping away from me too. I did not get the last thing I had planned for my SS yesterday so will race out of work today and try to get to the store before they close. Then have been keeping everything in a nice area free of pets so as not to offend my giftees sensitivities. Will try to take it outside and do some wrapping tonight. Yes, not in an area of the Artic Blast.

Note to my Secret Santa-ee - Your gift package contains biscotti, along with the surprises. I've included a list of the ingredients used, just in case you have allergy issues. The biscotti is hard/dry and will keep for several months, if kept in the zip-loc bags. :)

wanda lou 11-12-2014 01:11 PM

SS watch for your package.

Ha, ha, ha-last for months? Only if you sent a metric ton. Biscotti begs to be eaten...

:D I used to make it a lot more often, and in mass quantities. Each batch would have to be tasted, of course. After making so many batches, over the years, it's quite easy for me to resist more than just a few crumbs. :p Dh will eat a piece now and then, but he and most of my relatives prefer a softer cookie. When I make it for them, I usually skip the second baking. As for myself, it's just too sweet; I prefer a chocolate cupcake. . . or just a piece of dark chocolate! Mmmmmmm!

CarolinePaj 11-12-2014 03:31 PM

Oh Nessie,

I know that you are not my Secret Santa as I have already received a package..... But please feel free to send me Biscotti.... I love love love them!!!! LOL LOL LOL

Hugs

Caroline, if you're ever my Secret Santa-ee, I'll send you biscotti!

Seriously though, they're pretty easy to make. I'll try to remember to post the recipe, later. :)

I'll be watching for it! Oh, I assumed it was for me . . . but just realized TX is not 'nearby' NH. :(

Quercus Rubra 11-12-2014 03:55 PM

Oh umm yea i use to have SOS as a kid. It was made with chipped dried beef & white gravy. Always on toast. As an Army brat we saw a lot of it as it was fast & super cheap for a family of 5 several times a month...like once a week. And usually severed with canned peas, limabeans or butter beans.... still can't eat them to this day. I can't eat puffed rice or puffed wheat, raisin bran cereals or corn flakes either.

Neesie... you can send me some of that Biscotti my way. I love dipping in my coffee & hot cocoa. I have no allergies to any of the ingredents.

Today I got 6 injections in my lower back today. And man did they hurt!! I have one that still hurts and this is before the medicines are even injected!!! I go back on Friday for the left shoulder and believe you me...he will hear about it if it doeesn't abate.

I go back to see the surgeon tomorrow. I tryed eating some soft buttered noodles and they where getting stuck... and my neck is painfully swollen. Looks like I'm back on the liquid diet again... blak...not a big fan of jello. I also have to use a straw in order not to choke. I'm still sleeping in the recliner...joy of joy! NOT!!! The cats keep trying to sleep on neck & chest...the little buggers!

Anyways I found a package waiting for me when I finally made it home this afternoon. My cats are sure interested in the box. I have caught them chewing on the corners before I stashed in a closet. Mine will going out in the next day to two in between trips to doctor appointments.

Well I'm drained so I got to let Terri know I got mine so I can take another pain pill & land in my recliner.

Tricia
