My package was sent off today!!!! Getting excited!

Quercus Rubra 11-13-2014 12:14 PM

So okay on the back from my follow up appointment with the surgeon, I was able to mail out my package for my Secret Santa. The only thing is I wasn't able to get any pictures. Sorry. But I'm back to only liquids. Well crud! I also found out how difficult for the Surgeon to do the procedure. He is the top surgeon in the area and comes highly recommended. So he was truthful with me about what happened and with the reality of the healing time table will be. I'm in for a long haul. :( I go back to see him next month. I think I will have to put off signing up for any swaps of any kind for a duration. So bummed -- it's the highlight of my month. What a rotten birthday present (no it's not today - but the 23rd). :(:(:(:(

KGoodhand 11-13-2014 04:01 PM

Seems like there was a lot of mailing going on today!! Well add one more to the list! My SS package is on its way as well!!! It has a long journey but should arrive in 5 - 7 days!!! It is going way west of me!!! Staying in Canada or heading to the States??? Guess we will have to wait and see!!
Oh and I forgot to take pictures of what I sent too!! I was in such a rush to get it packed! Plus with how full it is...wrapping would not have worked!!! But I did remember to add the bells!!!!

roseirish48 11-13-2014 04:05 PM

i see a lot of people have sent out their ss boxes and since none has arrived on my doorstep yet i expect one of these later mailings must be for me. while i wait with furbabies on guard, i have been quilting away the hours. Finished the QOV quilting--just binding and label left---and have backing pieced for the Grandpa quilt which will be layered and put on frame tomorrow. it is only 12 blocks of 18" each and i only plan on SITD to quilt it so shouldnt take long as needs to be in mail in time to reach Los Angeles by Xmas.
I liked hearing that some others have trouble eating certain cereals also. Around our house it was Corn Flakes or Wheaties for cold cereal. Dad's Rat terrier/Pekinese loved Wheaties ith milk and sugar and would eat a bowl every morning except Sundays. Then he insisted on a pancake spread with butter and sprinkled with sugar. To this day, we kids still call Wheaties DOG FOOD.

As long as they're not going "tick tick tick" i think you're safe Terri.

SNOW ON MY ROOF here in north Texas this morning !!!!!!

ArizonaKAT 11-13-2014 07:24 PM

OK, got everything shoved into the box. Found the tape. Oh, no! Puppy ate the tape. Took me FOREVER to peel the bad parts of the tape off the roll before I got to finish taping the box shut.

FINALLY DONE! Going to the PO tomorrow. If your box comes with chewed up tape and dust from the desert, I'm your SS.

Crap, forgot to take pictures.

Nessie, I WILL take a pic of my socks for you when I get them.

PenniF 11-13-2014 08:20 PM

Tricia.....i feel so bad for you.....wish there was something i could do to help - but unfortunately we're about as far away from each other north to south as you can get and not be outside the USA. Please take care - and you can PM me any time if you just want to vent.

On the bright side....we have another several weeks of FUN FUN FUN together here on the SS thread.... IF Neesie and ArizonaKat and several OTHERS (i'm just sayin') stay out of trouble that is !!!

mollymunchkin 11-13-2014 08:50 PM

No snow or cold here, just a Secret Santa box that jingles when I shake it.

My Santee box is winging its way north. PM has been sent.

juneayerza 11-13-2014 09:19 PM

I have my Santee box sitting on the corner of my desk..............just sitting there; watching every move I make...............tempting me with every breath I take............

Neesie 11-13-2014 10:02 PM

30 degrees here and supposed to keep going down to about 23 degrees. KAT, I'm gonna need MY new socks, so do NOT put them onto your feet!!!

Did I remember to put the jingle bells into my Secret Santa-ee's package? Hmmmmmmmmm. ;)

CookyIN 11-13-2014 11:54 PM

Neesie, your Biscotti sounds great. Believe it or not, I've never had it so making yours sounds like a good January treat with my hot drinks.

And Cindy, your Chocolate Brownie Cookies are definitely on my to-do list too. Love my sweets!

Went to Aldi yesterday and picked up a couple of their German-made Christmas goodies. My favorite -- yes, I've already sampled -- is the Dark Chocolate Marzipan Stollen Bites. Like a double-thick cookie wrapped in dark chocolate. If anyone else goes to Aldi, please let me know if yours has Eisweinn (ice wine). Ours had it a couple years ago and hasn't had it since. It is without a doubt the best wine I ever tasted. It's made from the end-of-season grapes that have frozen on the vine, so it's always a limited amount that is produced. Sure wish they'd have it again!

:D :D :D :D

SulaBug, it's so much fun to go in there at Christmas! Aldi is a German company, and they import all kinds of wonderful things at Christmas. Here's a link to a page with both their Christmas catalog and Christmas recipes: http://weeklyads.aldi.us/Aldi/Entry/...toreid=2623444

Love Ice Wine very expensive at some places. Last year at Christmas our oldest daughter got us a gift certificate to make our own wine at the Grape and Grannery We did the ice wine had 26 bottles of Mango ice wine can only drink a little at a time.

ckcowl 11-14-2014 03:05 AM

I see my ( recipient) received her gift this week, Yea! So glad I don't have to worry about it being lost somewhere, now to wait for a delivery.... Such fun!

Bullock2us 11-14-2014 03:08 AM

Received my package yesterday! It is really heavy hmmmmmmmmmm. Gotta hide it- gotta hide it! And not just from myself but also my 9yr. old. Does it count on Santa's naughty list if my granddaughter "accidentally" rips it open?

m-fay 11-14-2014 03:31 AM

Thank you thank you thank you to someone who lives in the northern hemisphere. Your package arrived today in excellent condition, so I cant be tempted to peek though a hole~ I will post on opening day. and Neesie thanks about the butter...I'm going to try making some now.

seaside quilter 11-14-2014 04:58 AM

I'm not in the SS fun (I'll calendar it for next year), but I'd love it if you would post pictures of what was in your boxes.

btiny36 11-14-2014 05:46 AM

Well my SS package earned their wings and are flying to their destination as we speak...whooo hoooo it was fun as this year I was able to make 4 homemade gifts along with several bought gifts. The box isn't huge but it's packed with a lot of goodies. Are we posting pics of what we sent to our SS partners?

tlrnhi 11-14-2014 06:06 AM

I still have tons that haven't told me if they have sent or received.
If you haven't PMd me this info, PLEASE let me know!

My package is going out this afternoon after work. This is my first time around. I just finished reading everything as I have not been on for a few weeks. I have learned so much of this SS thing, will make it a much better year for me next year. You people are all amazing and so much fun.

PenniF 11-14-2014 06:18 AM

Sounds like almost all the packages are about sent out....so don't forget to go look through your recipes and pick one to post so that it can be added to the 2014 Secret Santa Cookie Exchange Cookbook. We have 100+ here and so far only 12 recipes..... I know we can do better than that.

All Yinz quys from the Burgh - you'll be up the crick without a paddle if you don't chip in!!

Just a reminder - after the reveal i will send a file (word or pdf) of all the recipes to anyone who PMs me their email info.

HappyQuilter77 11-14-2014 06:33 AM
