Jan that is too funny about where your cheesehead name came from. My DH went to Wisconsin and came home with one of those cheese heads after attending a Packers game with friends. It was nice for him to cheer on a winning team for once, being that he is a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan. LOL
Sharon, as long as you watch out where you do any spitting, I think you can safely practice. I am sometimes quite tempted. One of the nice things I've found about growing older is I feel freer to just be who I am, eccentricities and all. That's why I love that poem. |
Hi Ladies! I was wondering why I wasn't getting any messages. Weird. So I checked and what a bunch.
Speaking of spitting ... I miss sitting on my porch with my son when he was little having watermelon seed spitting contests. Of course he would spit gobs of watermelon out with the seed and his t-shirt would be a mess and became the official spitting shirt. Some sad news - Handi's mom passed. Prayers for her and for Handi in this sad time. |
Well, since my husband has been working tons of overtime and is now sound asleep to get ready for the midnight shift ... I had some time on my hands ... so ... :p

Thanks Lynnie, the avatar was designed for me by a friend on another forum. A Cheesehead is a Wisconsin thing, it's the dairy state and home of the Green Bay Packers. If you have ever seen a football game in Green Bay, you will see many of the fans wearing these foam cheese shaped wedges on their heads.

Quiltymom sent me this beauty. I love the fabric choice and how well she placed it. And the sewing kit is perfect for my RV.

I always loved that poem. Someone gave it to me and I have it hanging in the hallway. My mom lived with us for 5 years. It was very hard at times, but I have some very sweet memories of her. She loved pickle and peanut butter sandwiches. If we went to a fast food place she ordered french fries and a chocolate shake. My friend told her that wasn't a healthy meal. She said, at my age, who cares.
|
Handi I am sorry about your Mom passing and will say a prayer for you and your family.
Tesspug i like your Mom's philosophy of eating. My Grandma used to say much the same thing. It's funny about the pickle and peanut butter sandwiches. Were they sweet pickels? My daughter likes peanut butter and green olive. ;) quiltymom that is a really neat quilt - tesspug is right about the placement of the fabrics making it look great! |
Handi I am so sorry about your loss. Prayers are with you!
Lara I don't know about spitting but my last silkie, Katie, used to get out sometimes and I have been known to run after her in my nightgown...I told her many times it wasn't so bad when I was in my 50's but at 70 people start to talk! Now it is Peach I run after if he "bolts"...I have learned to never open the door unless I am totally dressed! Tesspug..love your mom's ideas! My dad loved peanut butter and dill pickle sandwiches..also loved celery stuffed with peanut butter. I hadn't thought of that in years..thanks for that sweet memory! My quilt is all wrapped up for Annaquilts and I guess I must have deleted the message with her address. Sometimes I wonder about myself! |
Tesspug Love the quilt you got from quiltymom, so very cute.

I have to share with you what I found. It's a picture of the doll quilt my mom made me back in the early 60's. It was well used and loved. Can anybody identify the fabric? Special treasure for sure.

Finally back home from Houston after what seems like forever. Was disappointed that the fabric fairy didn't show up to straighten the mess in my sewing room. After I kick a path clear I'm ready to get busy. Skaduzy -- yeah, it's hot here. Very, very hot and still and humid. Definitely condusive to staying in. Your little mini has been assigned as the next project up on my machine.

Great job, Quiltymom. Love the RWB for Tesspug. Berryberry, must be "The Three Little Pigs" haha. Cute doll quilt.

tesspug that is an awesome DQ and darling sewing kit. Great job quiltymom!

This doll quilt fabric looks like 30's fabric. I don't know much about those lines that's why I was wondering if it was part of a retro line anybody recognized like my winking Santa. Either way I thought I would share my treasure. |
Berryberry, what sweet pig fabric. I love the idea of having matching pjs for you and your doll.
Quiltymom, awesome job on your little quilt. The little sewing kit is too cute! Peanut butter - one of my favorites is peanut butter and bacon on an English muffin. Very slimming. Really. Lara, your little quilt will go out today. I wanted to make something extra and finished it last night. |
Quilt I recieved from Tesspug!

Thankyou again for great quilt and FQ's!! Most of all for being my partner! Thankyou all for the wonderful comments on quilt I made her makes me feel good about doing swap every month!!! :)

Very nice. What interesting FQ's!
|
I'm just loving all the great little DQs. I started quilting last night and didn't like the thread color so I pulled all the stitches out and will start again tonight. I dislike the actual quilting part the most.

Defiinitely "This little piggie went to market, this little piggie stayed home, this little piggie had roast beef, this little piggie had none." It's there in all of the pictures of the little piggies. So cute.
I have loved looking at all the wonderful doll quilts this month. Here is a little preview of mine for Jean D. I start quilting today. Hopefully bind tomorrow. We'll see how that goes. "The best layed plans of mice and men-----." |
Gorgeous quilt Quiltymom! Sure is fun seeing all the quilts come through. Bertie I am mailing yours out on Thursday. It has been very patient sitting here waiting to go. :D
|
Kitsey, I laughed so hard because before I actually read your post I saw the sliver of photo and thought my iPad hadn't downloaded it correctly, so I kept reloading the page.....to no avail! THEN...... I read your post....oh, duh! It's a sleek peak. Lol. Looks pretty cute! Will be anxious to see it.
|
Well, Cogito, I am very patient sitting here waiting for it to arrive, haha.
Oh, now I need to go look at the little pigs fabric again. I obviously jumped to conclusions when I saw two pigs and one pig! 2 + 1 = The Three Little Pigs, or so I thought. Guess this is the second time I've been wrong in my 72 years! Just kidding! LOL! I like QuiltyMom's Eagle quilt from Tesspug. I have some of the baseball fabric, I think. |

I saw the one who stayed home (reading a book) I saw the one with roast beef, I saw the one with none and I saw the one going to market to sell his birthday cake but I didn't see #5. Oh well, just gave me something to tease you about!
|
Berryberry you sure found a treasure!
Bertie you are such a kookaluke! (That's what my dad used to call us when we were being silly). Clearly the little piggy reading the book is also sitting on the potty. LOL. Two for one! Tesspug that is a cute log cabin! Cogito, I though Kitsy's sneak peak didn't load too. Okay, enough chit chat from me. I need to get back to working on your quilt Krystyna. I hit a bump in the inspiration road and took a break while my subconscious sorts things out. |
Berryberry you sure found a treasure!
Bertie you are such a kookaluke! (That's what my dad used to call us when we were being silly). Clearly the little piggy reading the book is also sitting on the potty. LOL. Au contraire! BuzzinBumble -- that's a regular lil chair -- no container underneath to catch outgoing. See how little I have to do today? Laughing WITH you! |
The original English version of the song said, "this little pig went crying all the way home." Another version was "this little pig cried wee, wee, wee, all the way home." One of the little pigs is crying. The pig reading the book is staying home. Do you think that quilters and Kindergarten teachers are the only ones who would analyze a piece of fabric to determine which pigs are which? I ask my DH what he saw and he said, "Some pigs."
|
OK Bertie, here we go. The little pig who had none is sitting next to the one who has a plate of food. The one who cried "Wee,wee, wee" all the way home is the one walking alone with tears coming from his eyes. Love to be teased, it makes for great fun. You seem like a great gal and I love all of your posts. You really keep things going on this QB and that is "a good thing" (to quote Martha.)
|
Boy did I get that nursery rhyme wrong. I though the wee wee was ... well you know. Here I was looking for one on a potty.
Okay, okay... I'll get back to work. |
You are all kookalukes! :D Thanks for providing the laughs for the day. That IS pretty cute fabric btw.
|
You are all NUTS but such fun. I love all the little quilts that are arriving! Mailed to Anna today .. it is supposed to arrive on the 20th (same day she is due home from vacation!). How much fun to have a doll quilt from your childhood! I was the oldest so my younger sister pretty much used up anything I saved. Oh well, I loved her dearly and miss her every single day!
|
Good question BertieD :)

Fifth Little Pig Mystery Solved: The last lil pig has been identified by Kitsykeel! I concede to her sharp eyesight. But since I always heard he WENT wee-wee-wee all the way home, I was like BuzzinBramble looking for proof, haha. Since he cried wee wee wee all the way home, the tears certainly make sense. Now if I had any, we wouldn't have had near as much fun today. And Tesspug my DH would have said exactly the same thing yours said if I had asked him what he saw. It is really cute fabric.
|
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=91iSG5DARw8 Song for your enjoyment about what we've been joking about! And Tesspug they sang it your way!
|
Ms Grace, is it there yet? is it there yet? is it there yet? Oh the postman takes so long to deliver precious packages from Australia to the US

Laid back? Um, try disgusting! House rule: No spitting indoors. And actually, with the exception of watermelon seeds, no spitting at all. Blechhhh.

I had a wonderful surprise in my mailbox today from Chasezzz, isn't it beautiful!!! She also included some fabric that is so pretty, thank you Karen.

Glad you like the DQ, Jan! I had fun using the modern dresden plate template for the first time. At first the quilt was square, but then I thought it begged to be a circle!
