Mini Swap

3 Attachment(s)
Skaduzy sent me the cutest little mini -- plus matching coasters -- plus a refridgerator magnet that says it all! The quilting she did on the mini makes me envious of her skill -- loops with stars every so often. Reminds me of streamers and fireworks. Fantastic work! Thank you so much, and thanks for being my partner.

Cogito 06-26-2013 07:34 AM

Nancy and skaduzy, darling, darling little quilt! Love this swap. :)

Cogito 06-26-2013 07:35 AM

I posted this on the new swap but didnt know if i should post it here too. Hope its ok, off topic:
Ok, I'm putting a plea out....I have only recently learned of the wonderful things you can do with selveges, and oh what wonderful things one can do! I have been bitten bad and just realized it will take me forever to collect enough selveges to make anything of any size! So I am pleading to my doll quilt friends...if you have selveges and don't use them, will you share with me? I will gladly pay postage. Feel free to pm me. Who knows, maybe you will see it in one of my upcoming doll quilts

BuzzinBumble 06-26-2013 08:01 AM

Oh my goodness (Ooftah) Skaduzy! Nancy you are a lucky girl - that looks beautiful on your table! The matching coasters are adorable and the quilt itself is so pretty! I wish I could quilt like that. Practice practice practice.

Cogito - yup those selvage projcts look so cool. Don't have any or I would send them to you. I'll try to start saving them again.

TOOMANYUFO'S 06-26-2013 08:07 AM

Really nice quilt Skaduzy made. Nancy it looks great on your table.

QuilterMomma 06-26-2013 09:36 AM

It is really adorable. I have it at my office on top of the filing cabinet by the window. You see it going in and out of the door.

that is a nice quilt skaduzy. Love it and the coasters are special.

I won't be doing the July swap because of other obligations I need to do first, but hopefully join in again in August. Great little DQs ladies. It is a spectacular Fourth of July celebrations.
Oh, another tidbit. I pulled mine from last years swap with urgodschild and hung it up in the office as well. Love showing these beauties off.

Krystyna 06-26-2013 01:46 PM

Sue (Sjkaduzy) what a fabulous little quilt and coasters! Lucky Nancy! They look fabulous on your table!

CogNEETO - I promised the current batch to my darling friend, RWQuilts, but I'll start on a new one for you!

Just got my DQ from Krisb today and I just love it. Thank You, Thank You, Thanks You. This was my first time doing this swap and I had way too much fun! There are 3 pictures the first is of the full quilt, the second is a close up of Lady Liberty made with thread - yea, can you say "WOW" and the last is the backing with the label.
Krisb should be getting her DQ today if USPS tracking is correct. I hope she likes what I made as much as I like hers.
I'm originally for the east coast (NJ) so have been to the statue so many times. My grandfather come through Ellis Island as a small boy from Scottland.

Thanks Kris for being a great swap partner.

Oh. by the way the fireworks are also made from thread.

QuilterMomma 06-26-2013 02:32 PM

That is cool, go Lady Liberty, you have now been imprinted forever in fabric. Nice job!

Okay I have a question. How do I leave feedback. I looked it up under the help section and found the feedback tab but no tab that says submit feedback as instructed.

Annaquilts 06-26-2013 03:15 PM

So glad you like the little DQ and the gifties. Enjoy! You sure deserve it. Thank you for your kind words. I am sure enjoying the DQ you send me. It is hanging in my studio for the Fourth of July.

Annaquilts 06-26-2013 03:17 PM

Krisb what an artsy beautiful DQ. I like Lady Liberty and how you took many different fabrics and made them all sing together.

BuzzinBumble 06-26-2013 03:38 PM

Mamaskeeto, Kris B was my first time swap partner too. Kris that is so stunning! You are so good at your thread art! I still look in awe at the beautiful mountain scene with the thread art Adirondack chairs you made for me.

Anna your patriotic star is simply wonderful! Very pretty primitive colors. You are really good at the binding too I see.
Sharon... Did you already get into that box of Buncha Crunch? LOL

Jillnjo, what a beautiful set of scenes all in Americana themes. And the embroidered thread art fireworks and stars are so wonderful- love it! Jarenie, I was a lucky duck to have Jillnjo as a partner once too.

Annaquilts 06-26-2013 03:41 PM

Super cute jillnjo!
Great quilting and the cutest little patriotic colored scenes and animals.

Jillnjo what a darling quilt! I love it!

Linny 06-26-2013 03:58 PM

Jillinjo - Your quilt for jarenie is like a beautiful piece of Americana....what a treasure for her.

Cheesehead 06-26-2013 04:21 PM

Wow Jillnjo, that really is one fantastic quilt...love everything about it!

Jan

jillnjo 06-26-2013 04:24 PM

Thanks for your nice comments. I found this Americana panel and fussy-cut several of the little pictures out. I liked the theme, too, and had fun quilting it.

So many lovely quilts being swapped. Little quilts are fun any way you look at it!

Lynnie25 06-26-2013 04:37 PM

Wow, what amazing little quilts have come in - there will be some pretties displayed this July 4th for sure.

Gosh you only have to log out for a few hours and the little quilts flood in - this morning is walking group morning but it is raining so our little group walked from the car a short distance to the coffee shop - I now feel so refreshed and ready to spend the day sewing :)

Lara thank you for your kind words.
and yes I also noticed the box was popped open. :D Sharon enjoy!

Krystyna 06-26-2013 06:40 PM

Annaquilts and Jillnjo - what wonderful quilts! I just love them!

Mamaskeeto, your mention of Ellis Island prodded an interesting memory back to life. I think that everyone who went through there arrived either by steerage or third class. After listening to all the "when I was a little girl" stories from my mom (you know - walking 150 miles to school, eating shoe leather soup) I wanted to get her name on the commemorative wall when they were re-opening. She said, "Oh no. We didn't come through Ellis Island. We had a cabin." What???!!!! Seriously??? Kinda blew those "I had to sleep in a suitcase" stories out of the water.

I didn't see if anyone answered this. If you look at the where the avatar is in a post you see the feedback score. It is a green number ( well it is on my computer) Click on that number and a screen will pop up. Look over to the right of the screen and there will be a place to leave feedback.

You ladies are rocking your little mini's! Love them! I might be able to join in again this fall...hope so. :)

Krystyna 06-27-2013 06:54 AM

Berryberry - you need to PM your partner with your address!!!

luvstoquilt 06-27-2013 07:44 AM

Okay! Okay! I opened the candy to see if it was "movie worthy", Lara and Anna. Definitey is and the box is taped shut now! I started to spread some of it out by the quilt but was afraid you would think it was a present from the Peach! (He is a good boy and wouldn't do that!) What great quilts are coming in...I love all of them. I wish I had gotten in this swap with the 1st one..I have an idea...if everyone made me a little quilt I would have a stack of them, too. What do you think???? Sounds like a plan to me. LOL

CrazyQuiltRobin...how are you doing? Are you about ready to join us again? Miss you terribly. Sending hugs and warm wishes.

Krisb 06-27-2013 08:45 AM

Well, I learned the word as uff dah back home in "Minnysoda", (DH confirms that's how it is spelled in that state) but oof dah works just fine. It is a general interjection used for almost any purpose--golly, wow, whew, jeez, and other words not fit to print. Often used when completing a difficult task. Also, as Krystyna said some number of posts back, the name of a game. Also the name of a rock band in the Twin Cities.I am tapping my toes waiting for the mail carrier, because my quilt ffom mamaskeeto should be coming. Will post pic later. Can't sew--my eyes are still dilated.

Cogito 06-27-2013 09:07 AM

Well Krisb's description of Ufdah/Oofdah fits right with our upcoming theme....often used when completing a difficult task...Oofdah!! :D I am furiously trying to get Gaijin's quilt done...Oofdah Mag!

Grandma Di 06-27-2013 09:08 AM

My goodness such beautiful quilts have come in since the last time I posted. I have been hand quilting a quilt for my cousin. Needs to be done by the 6th. My hands are so sore and a bit swollen so decided to take a break. Uff da is the way my Gramma Sammy said it, with one hand on her hip and the other mopping the sweat off her forhead after rolling out a batch of lefsa or frying her huge raised donuts. As a child always to it to mean: Oh, my sore aching back or thank God that's done. What wonderful memories.

Krisb 06-27-2013 10:22 AM

The mail came! Kathy, it is beautiful. For the rest of you, the pictures may not show how accurate the piecing is.

Here's the quilt

And the extra goodies

and the way cool fabric on the back

http://i1123.photobucket.com/albums/...0a257a041c.jpg

Kathy, thank you so much. Krystyna, she's a keeper. We can't let her get away.

jarenie 06-27-2013 10:23 AM

thank you for posting the picture and along with the mini quilt I got two great fabrics. Guess what I forgot to do? I forgot the lable.

Cogito 06-27-2013 10:31 AM

Jarenie, I can't tell you how many times I have done that in the past! I am trying to do better at that. :)
thanks everyone for posting photos of the back and label. :)
