Oh my goodness...prayers for everyone. It seems to be everywhere we turn right now. My mother is in hospice and she is starting each day being non-responsive. She will not speak until I get there and then she rallies for the day..she takes a lot of short naps all day long but she is determined to leave this world asap. We have talked about it a lot and while she is 95 it is going to be very sad without her around to police my quilts. She actually measured my stitches when I showed her my frist one about 15 years ago. She isn't in any pain but today she has refused to get out of bed. She says she is there to stay! I know I am lucky to have lived 71 years and still have a mother but it is so sad to think she is leaving.

Bertie, I was wondering about Robin, too. She is on my mind daily. There are so many amazing quilters who keep up their spirits despite illness, heartache and so many trials. They keep on quilting. What an inspiration to all of us.

That makes 3 of us...I sent her a package that was supposed to arrive on Tuesday and I haven't heard...she is usually fast to send a PM or a note on this board. Prayers are with you Robin if you are reading this. I hope the package arrived.

luvstoquilt 06-06-2013 02:11 PM

Bertie, your quilt is fantastic...I am so behind but I finally caught up on all of the messages. Elizabrat I hope you are feeling better again. Moving is bad enough when you are feeling 100%! Good news for Anna...I am really getting a lot done on your quilt. I cannot believe how many pieces there are in that simple looking little piece of Americana! I am lucky because Anna will not be back home until the 20th so I do have time to get this one done! It will definitely be one of a kind from this house!

Buzzin Bumble...do love your rug. A friend of mine has one and I begged her to let me have it...I tried to trade for it but she was having none of that! Love that you hung yours. Lisa's was a runner and was in her hallway. Absolutely delightful.

Krystyna, I have a front loader washing machine and I washed some wool in it...it worked for me!

Hugs to all..so glad we have each other...nothing takes the place of "girl friends"...that was advice I got from my grandmother about 50+ years ago. She said keep your girlfriends close because they will be there when you need them.

jaba 06-06-2013 04:18 PM

BertieD you sound like me, should be doing etc.....I swear my sewing machine has a voice in this house..."turn me on, get with it" I'm sure your's does the same thing. I'm so glad when it talks to me! :)

Jean D 06-06-2013 04:41 PM

Oh Kitsykeel - those colors look wonderful, will get busy on yours tomorrow, it's ready to roll!

I pm'd Robin a few nights ago, she was on my heart, haven't heard anything, I just keep praying

How the heck did I miss so many posts? This board is always an amazing thing. You never know what will happen next.

What a fabulous star quilt! You never know what wonderful things you ladies are going to come up with next.

Kitsy, I do like those colors. Can't wait to see what you create! I need to dig around to see if I have more red ... I have a second idea bubbling around in my weird little mind.

Sharon, I'm so sorry about your mom. What a heartache.

Yes, thinking about and praying for Robin.

Thanks for the washing machine info. I think I'll try it. Need to get some bags to put the pieces in so I don't make a complete mess.

I thought I'd post a photo of the Hypnosis table runner I made for the Brat's swap ... scary, isn't it? But the theme IS Summer Fun ...

Thank you all for the nice compliments, it was a pleasure to make it. I love making them for a table topper but Miss K I did put a hanging sleeve on it also. And....it's not a big secret, it's a pattern using the 22.5 squedge ruler. The only trick is you have to have the ruler. I've tried to see if it would "fit" with the degrees on any other ruler but haven't found one yet. Think I'd get in a bunch of trouble if I started cutting out acrylic and making them. So glad you liked it toomanyufo's

ljdugas31 06-06-2013 07:00 PM

Jaba LOVE the doll quilt you made your partner, just beautiful!!!!!

luvstoquilt 06-06-2013 07:34 PM

Love the doll quilt Jaba...love your fabrics Kitsy and Krystyna I would know that table runner was yours! That is simply delightful! Would certainly get your eyes open in the morning if it was on the breakfast table!!! Thoughts and prayers are with Robin tonight...so hope we hear from her soon. Robin, if you are reading this I hope you have sweet dreams tonight...so many thoughts are with you.

BertieD 06-07-2013 02:55 AM

LOL! Elisabrat, you must be a firm believer in 'flattery will get you everywhere!" Nice job, Jaba!

Ms Grace 06-07-2013 04:31 AM

Jaba,
What a great quilt you made. Very unique!

Sharon (luvstoquilt) I am so sorry for what you are going through. Hospice is very hard. My FIL went that route and it was a mixed blessing. I am saying a prayer for you and for your Mom. It doesn't matter how old either of you are - this is one of the hardest things.

Linda (elisabrat) you're back! How are you doing with your move? You are so funny and your post really cracked me up... hunga dunga

Bertie I love your method of quilting and being able to ignore the other work. You do sound like you have a ball!

Kitsie that is great fabric and I can't wait tos ee what you do with it!

Jaba and Krystyna I LOVE your quilts! Jaba I never saw one done like that before and it is beautiful! Krystyna the close up shot shows that it is even more awesome than I thought!

This morning I washed and starched the fabrics and actually began cutting them out - this is going to be a fun quilt! I came down to the computer for a lunch break but better get back upstairs and busy.

I am sending you all a virtual pup with a busily wagging tail who wants to play. It's our dog Pip and she always cheers me up. Throw it for me Mom!

Krystyna 06-07-2013 03:47 PM

And Linda, what is the sweet critter in your lap in your avatar?

Jean D 06-07-2013 04:38 PM

Oh my Krystna, where's my sun glasses? I LOVE brights, but they totally intimidate me! Every so often I go out and buy some wild fabric and then I just sit and stare at it, maybe someday, I'll figure out....

Elisabrat 06-07-2013 05:22 PM

Told you!

TOLD YOU GUYS see I knew Jaba would give her secret up after that amazing plea from me :) (roll your eyes go ahead) she is a push over for smaltz like that :) (running she is very very good at kicking my tail)..

krystyna did you invent your pattern or did you find that? its so incredibly creative and I love that it is so different from all the ones before. High five!

i havent moved yet going nuts, lots done it seems never ending right? finish all this oh dear look at that.. sigh and I am still trying to get a center medallion thing done in all this. If you could see my house now you would understand. both bedrooms are completely boxed, moved into my livingroom. bathrooms also. laundry room stuff also, most of kitchen also.. nightmare for me ms organized. sure got rid of a lot though. will probably get rid of more before we move too. lots to do lots to do but I sneak in here for a break from reality. love you guys!

Cogito 06-07-2013 05:43 PM

Well BertieD all I need to do is bind and label and yours will be on its way by Monday! :)

Krystyna 06-07-2013 06:24 PM

Jean D - sorry to have hurt your eyes. Picture it outside, on a deck at poolside. Better?

Brat, no pattern. I can't (won't?) use patterns. Undisciplined. With me, you get what you get and usually I never know what's going to come out of the needle at the end of it all.

Elisabrat, you never seem to go a day without making me laugh hysterically at your antics! :) Nice butter job! Lol!

Cogito 06-07-2013 07:14 PM

Lara and Krystyna, sweet puppies!

Cogito 06-07-2013 07:19 PM

Java,
i really like the fact you "colored outside the lines" and didn't make the traditional square/rectangle shape. :o Nice job!

luvstoquilt 06-08-2013 07:17 AM

Loved the pups Lara and Krystyna. Makes me want to adopt one but with DIL who has dog allergies guess it would be mean. I really do love her and she really gets sick around dogs...do wish she would take allergy shots but she is like me..we both stay clear of meds if possible...side effects are way to scary!

Hey SP I told you I would mail on Monday. Guess what??? I mailed today!

Linny 06-08-2013 09:20 AM

Paperpieceme- things got busy this week so will plan on mailing first part of next week.

BuzzinBumble 06-08-2013 09:52 AM

Grumble grumble groan....This morning I did a number on my index finger by making two deep slices with the pruning saw. Stopped the bleeding and am hoping to avoid going and getting stitches.
But don't worry dear partner o' mine, it is not my sewing finger - Whew!

Sharon, it is really hard to get around it when someone has severe dog allergies. But if they aren't severe then you Might be able to make it work. I am pretty allergic to dogs and have never gotten shots, because I've heard mixed reviews on that. We have three dogs of our own and one large grand doggy who we puppysit often. Two of our dogs don't bother my allergies much at all. Especially Penny: she is a silky terrier we got from a rescue. It really is true what they say... Some dog breeds have more dander than others. Plus bathing them once a week and keeping the house vacuumed helps too. And of course small dogs have less dog to be allergic to. Maybe you can borrow a low dander little dog for a day and see if it bothers your DDIL?

Krystyna 06-08-2013 01:54 PM

Oh no! Lara! Get that taken care of! OWWWWW!

It's true about dogs and dander or whatever. My son and I are very allergic to Feeney -- especially his licks, but fortunately he doesn't do that too much any more. Since Daisy chases him off the bed at night, he likes to sleep on my pillow during the day. If I keep it covered, I'm fine, but if not my eyes have problems in the morning. Daisy is another story. Not allergic to her at all but we all try to avoid her favorite method of licking -- which involves excavating your sinuses -- because she has horrible breath. She's going to the groomer on Monday and I'm very nervous about it. She's never been before and she is a terrified dog who nips.

Working on borders for your little quilt. I made such a mess with the veils over the last couple of days that I'm not sure what I did with the reds and blues I had. They'll surface. Back to the veils ... only 20 or 30 that need corners mitered and then stitched down. The part I hate the most...

My little dog nips whenever you get near her ears to clean them. The groomers we take her to does great. Last time I took her, the guy who usualy does her has moved to a different location. Was not too happy with, didn't do enough on her nails. They were still sharp so I won't use that gal again.

Cogito 06-08-2013 02:29 PM

Lara,
Oofdah Mag! ( I heard that last word with the Oofdah as well!) I sure hope your finger is doing ok. Not fun, that interferes with quilting enjoyment. :(

Annaquilts 06-08-2013 03:20 PM

Oh yummy asparagus. I have an idea so you do not have to go through the hassle of freezing all of them. Just send several pounds to us weekly. :D

Love seeing Pip, Lara and Feeney. My little girl, Nina, is taking a nap in her cat bed under the dinette in our motor home. The first couple of days of our vacation were rough on her. she does not like the driving but it is getting better. For now we are set till the middle of the next week when we move on. Nina is really enjoying the break of no driving. There are lots of very big dogs on the camp ground, the biggest yellow lab, two great Danes. She has not felt very social at 8 lbs. I must say I can't blame her. :D

Ok Krystna -is that what you say when you lose something? It will "surface" eventually? Well, I am stealing it! Never thought of such a wonderful laid back response, my family won't see it coming! Worked a quilt show all day, what fun! But my dogs are barking!

luvstoquilt 06-08-2013 04:07 PM

HI Lara...hope your injury is not stitchable.....I had 2 Silkies and Joanna couldn't breath in my house...they lived for 16+ years and while I would so love another I just can't do it to her....funny that cats don't bother her! My last 3 silkies were rescues and I really wish I could have just one more but if that is the worst thing that happens to me I guess I shouldn't whine, huh?
Prayers for Robin...

Sure you bet, then I'll get in trouble for sending to one and not another!! Want strawberries too? They started yesterday, already have a gallon. I need Miss Brat here with her obsession for fruit, quickly.

Krystyna 06-09-2013 05:45 AM

Linda, I love little Zoey ... and love her name! I hope she has her own quilt!

Jean D - yes, things to tend to rise to the surface sooner or later. And happily the reds and blues bubbled up to the top! So I will put away the veils I didn't finish and work on my little quilt.

Lara, how is your hand? I can't imagine sawing through a hand. Oww owww and owwww! Do you need a tetanus shot? I never had one until about two or three years ago. Hubby and I were fishing at the local pier and I was so annoyed when my line got snagged. I wasn't about to lose yet another set of tackle. So I laid down on the peer and started tugging. The whole mess let loose and flew upward embedding a gigantic rusty fish hook with a big old sinker into my finger. We went to the emergency room to get it out since I didn't know if it was embedded in the bone ... and despite all the bloody messes in the waiting room, people were getting sick looking at it. Odd thing is it didn't hurt a bit! Well, enough gore for the morning. Off to sew!
