My little firecracker is ready to be bound and packaged off to my partner. Today is so HOT, our first day of stinky humidity. The only thing to do is stay inside or get in water!

Bertie, Love your story about Rusty.

Yep, the Peach is called Mr. Peach, the Peach, Peacher, Peacharoo, etc.,etc. He comes when he wants something to eat otherwise he pays little attention unless a quilt is spread out. When that happens he is on it, in it or under it and at that point what I call him is not fit to print!!!

You left me speechless. I got it yesterday, can't wait to post to charm the group LOL. The pictorial fabric is also new to me, don't remember seeing anything like that during my buying spree. And love ALL the goodies.

Oooooh " little firecracker" quilt! Can't wait to see what you came up with jillnjo!
Bertie you are amazing, can't wait to see what you made for Mamaskeeto! Your story about Rusty is so sweet.
We're getting to a really fun part when we start getting to see the quilts that come in!

Oh no Krystyna, Piper doesn't look like Daisy much at all. Pip is the one who is Daisy's long lost sister. We have three little brown terriers: Pip, Penny, and Piper. I'll post a pic so you can see the three together. And we also often have Olive our granddoggy too, like every day this week. That's her in the bandana. They are all really great dogs and love each other. I am a little dog crazy...LOL

Sharon, our Penny the silky terrier likes to get in quilts too. Does Mr. Peach also show too much enthusiasm when you try to make the bed? A cat in the sheets is always so funny. And Quilts seem to attract pets like magnets. Here Penny is in a quilt I was trying to bind.

BuzzinBumble 06-12-2013 08:29 AM

Our son Sam hit a deer on the thruway last night. He is okay, thank God! The deer is not. His car is not, but it might be repairable. We're just really thanking God that Sam is fine! He said this was a bit of an awakening....he's not as infallible as he sometimes thinks. Caught a glimpse of his mortality.

Linny 06-12-2013 02:20 PM

Mailed my little red white and blue to my partner (paperpieceme) on Tuesday....should arrive the 13th.

NanaKathy55 06-12-2013 02:22 PM

BuzzinBumble, I made a RWB for SistahDebbra; not Mamaskeeto. Penny looks like she's saying "you really want me to move?" Beautiful quilt by the way! I think it is Morettl (forgive me if I spelled that wrong) who collects roosters? The Fons and Porter quilt site has a kit that has Chanticleers on it for 50% off. It's not a real big quilt but pretty neat if you want to check it out. I have more kits in this house than I'll ever get made. I am a sucker for a sale and so I bought a few! Today I bought a Lil Twister ruler and made a small sized quilt that I will probably send to the dear lady who makes quilts for very sick kids, Vickey Stamps. (I sent two already but I think one of them may have stayed in AL which was ok with me) She said she needs 24-28" square or thereabouts and this one will be just about that size once I add borders. Looking forward to seeing everyone's RWB quilts for June!

BertieD 06-12-2013 03:48 PM

BuzzinBumble, Olive seems to be saying "how come they get to sit on the couch and I have to stay outside?" She looks to be about the same size as the Basenji (mixed mutt whatever) that we have now. He looks like a dingo but has the sweetest face.

Krisb 06-12-2013 04:15 PM

OK, no sneak peeks. But I would like to order In advance no severe weather from July 19th through the 27th driving through Kentucky (Paducah), lengthwise through Illinois, kiddy corner across Wisconsin and up to Lake Vermilion. It's about 19 hours and will be alone, so want light overcast and no rain. And no rain while at the lake. Solar flares will be welcome.

Lara, have hit only one deer but it was on glare ice and it was pretty scary. The guy in the car with me took it home with him. Swear he aimed at them when he was driving just to get free meat.

Please excuse the redwhite blue picture above. My niece was showing me how to upload pictures again and we accidentally got that one! The lil fella is my great-grandchild, Noah. He said "A cowboy has to match his cowdog!" Here is a picture of his 'cowdog' Millie, lol!

Krystyna 06-12-2013 07:11 PM

I am DYING from all these cute photos.

Lara, the pups are toooooo cute! I want to come over to play with them! Thank God your son is OK. How scary!

Bertie, Noah is adorable!

I just love all the pix so much. It has been a rough couple of days around here and I desperately needed the smiles.

BuzzinBumble 06-13-2013 05:12 AM

Bertie, Noah is just too cute...
"A cowboy has to match his cowdog!" What a riot! Wonderful picture! Jackson has a really sweet face - very expressive around his eyebrow area. And don't worry, Olive is at the park in that pic. We don't make her stay outside ...she sleeps with my daughter.

Krystyna I am sorry the last few days have been rough and hope they get a lot better. We're you able to get all the veils finished?

Kris: 19 hours driving by yourself - That is one long haul! Make sure you give yourself breaks to get out and stretch and if you get too tired don't push too hard. If you are going through Paducah I bet you plan to take a llloooooonnnggg break there.
:o And don't hit any more deer. That would definitely not be an economical source of meat! We're lucky only to have to pay the deductible and most of all very grateful that Sam is okay!

i am eagerly waiting for the quilt pictures that will be showing up any day now!
Krystyna - still working on yours. I had a new idea for an addition for it strike me and am waiting for the fabric to get here.

Received a just gotta show off red/white/blue DQ from BertieD and loads of goodies. I have a reserved spot waiting for me to hang my patriotic buddy. The background fabric is awesome.

Mamaskeeto 06-13-2013 06:21 AM

sistahdebbra what a great little DQ you received from BertieD.

I'm still working on my little DQ for Krisb and have to say I could have finished the top last night if my machine would have worked with me. It took me an hour to make 1 3 1/3" block and then after messing with my machine it decided it wanted to play nice and got the other 16 blocks make in the next hour. Now to piece the blocks and add the border and then quilt it. Hope to get some quality quilting time in this weekend.

BertieD 06-13-2013 07:03 AM

I found that background fabric in my stash while looking for RWB's. Perfect! Have no earthly idea where it came from. Bottom right corner-Jefferson writing/signing the Declaration of Independence, Lower left corner-Betsy Ross sewing the first flag, Upper left corner- space to be conquered and upper right corner--we did it! Astronaut planting the flag on the moon! And Debbra said she loved eagles so there she has it all! I found a Liberty bell I liked and used that for the label on the back, crack and all, haha. Now July is taking me longer, haha. (What I look like and/or Where I live) Am thinking on it so far.

luvstoquilt 06-13-2013 07:06 AM

Lara I am so happy that your Sam is okay! Our kids never get so old that we stop fearing for their safety! Peach is no help with bed making...He refuses to have any cover over him but he hides under the bed and my feet are TARGETS! I love the pictures of your dogs...your Silkie looks just like our Roxy and Katie...will always miss those little pups!

Bertie, that quilt is so pretty! I love RED,WHITE & BLUE!!! Makes me cry to hear the Star Spangled Banner...Anna I am still working on the top of yours...It is almost done...just have to put the border on (the border is 184 pieces...still in 1 1/2" squares) I am hoping I will get that done today while I am at my mom's.

Krystyna I am so sorry you have had some bad days...should have had more than your share by now. I am thinking of you and will get that book off to you in a day or so.

Rough times with happenings with my mother. She did have a pretty good day yesterday but now she is in bed with the covers over her face. I feel like I am crying all the time.

Grandma Di 06-13-2013 10:17 AM

I just have the binding left on mine and hope to have it in the mail by next week.
We finally are having our full 1st day of sun. It has been weeks since the last time the sun was out. The fields out here are just mud puddles.

BuzzinBumble 06-13-2013 01:05 PM

Bertie the quilt you made for Deborah really stirs the soul with patriotism - so wonderful! I especially love the eagle.
Sharon my heart aches for you. It doesn't matter how old you or your Mom are, the process of losing a mother is awful. I hope and pray that she finds peace both here and hereafter.

Krystyna 06-13-2013 05:39 PM

Great little quilt, Bertie!

Sending hugs to everyone who needs one.

Today is better. I am just so devastated for my son who just can't seem to get a job. And his new wife is more than a little crabby about it. To round things out the car he got to replace the one he lost in the flood seems to have more problems than was immediately apparent -- like needing a catalytic converter -- and he can't get it inspected without it. And as he was leaving here yesterday after helping me with sewing for hours he found he had a flat tire. Add to that the seemingly impossible mountain of paperwork and bureaucracy to get back home ... and, well, I was in an extremely poopy mood. But today is a good one. I am just putting one step in front of the other and running the dogs out in between monsoons. Hubby is working until midnight so I think I will stroll across the street and get some Chinese food for dinner! No cooking, no dish washing.

berryberry 06-14-2013 05:07 AM

We have had the monsoons and god awful humidity for a week. Today it's sunny and low 70's. Hope your better day is coming.

Krystyna 06-14-2013 05:15 AM

This morning the sun is out, it's in the 50's with a light breeze. A glorious morning! Perfect to throw open the windows and finish my little quilt!

Oh how I wish it was 50's here this morning. We are already 79, hot and humid. UGH will be a fun summer with my lung issues.

Enjoy your glorious morning.

Had to laugh at that one....love it!

Krystyna 06-14-2013 07:37 AM

Yup. A good chuckle. Actually, with all things considered, life is good. I do not live in a country where bombs are whizzing overhead or people are chopping off your arms or the neighborhood makes you radioactive. I have a comfy bed, food to eat, fabric to play with, a mannequin to chat with (although she doesn't have much to say in reply) ... so what more could I possibly need?

I'm happily quilting my partner's little quilt. Then the binding will go on and into the wash it goes - with color catchers! Wheeeeeee!

Some sad news this morning for our family and a request for prayers. My daughter, that came home to the USA this week from serving as a missionary in Africa for a year, is in the hospital with malaria. She has a 2 month old baby boy. They are in Texas and with her husband's family. Her mother in law is taking care of the baby now. She had been nursing the baby up till now. Please for those that pray to hold them in prayers. Also they were in between insurances so that is an added worry. I am feeling so sad and helpless right now.

Praying for your daughter and her family. Where in Texas are they? I am in the Dallas area.

Annaquilts 06-14-2013 09:19 AM

Cindy I send you a pm.

Annaquilts 06-14-2013 09:23 AM

I just received news they will change the medication so she can nurse her 2 month old. Thank you for your prayers. I am so glad she is in Texas and has good medical care plus the support of her family in law. At this point they believe she might be released tomorrow with additional home care.

Omacookie, what a darling little quilt! I love the buttons! They add so much.

Progress update on the one I'm making for Lara -- the binding is going on NOW!!!

TOOMANYUFO'S 06-14-2013 12:55 PM

Annaquilts will keep your family in our prayers.

Krystyna 06-14-2013 04:48 PM

It's done!!!! I used a technique I've never used before and one that I think will be one of my favorites. I quilted the heck out of it and ... well I like it! I hope Lara does, too!

Krystyna 06-14-2013 05:31 PM

And ... a photo is hiding somewhere on the QB. No peeking, Lara!

Jean D 06-14-2013 05:39 PM

Prayers for your family Annaquilts. You'll sleep better tonight knowing she gets to go home soon with her little one! Nice red, white and blues! Mine is put together and will start stitching on it tomorrow-yeah! My favorite part! We are getting storms blowing up within an hour here - and it just pours rain! I don't think but half of the crops are in yet, not good for any of us that eats!
