Annaquilts 06-14-2013 07:06 PM

NanaKathy55 that is one beautiful DQ omacookie made for you. What a cute blocks and adorable fabrics.

Annaquilts 06-14-2013 07:09 PM

Update on DD. The malaria is a very bad strain and drug resistant but the medication should be coming in tomorrow morning to the hospital. The doctor expects her to be able to go home 24-48 hours after that. They chanced her medication and she can nurse her baby now. The baby and DD's husband are with her at the hospital now. I'll feel so much better when she gets the correct medicine.

Krystyna 06-14-2013 07:13 PM

Anna, many prayers for her tonight.

luvstoquilt 06-14-2013 08:41 PM

Anna..praying for your daughter and the whole family...

love the quilts coming in....I am still working on the one for Anna but am thinking of setting it on fire and starting over! GRRRR!

Krystyna..prayers for you and for Blaze, too!

Hugs everyone...I am heading for bed!

Cogito 06-15-2013 03:53 AM

Lara (buzzinbumble),
first let me say I am so happy your son wasn't hurt when he hit the deer! Here in Iowa they are taking over. Deer accidents almost everyday. I had to tell you though that I love, love love your doggie pics! What a bunch of cuties! They all look kissable, lol.

Cogito 06-15-2013 04:31 AM

AnnaQuilts,
i am so sorry to hear of your daughters illness. It is so hard when they have a small baby too! I will send healing thoughts her way.

jaba 06-15-2013 05:19 AM

Hope your daughter gets well real soon Anna, I'm sure it's extra hard when you can't be there with her. Such cute quilts coming in, love seeing them all. Still waiting on both of mine, hopefully soon.

wanda lou 06-15-2013 05:57 AM

Prayers for your family Annaquilts.

jillnjo 06-15-2013 06:12 AM

Thinking of your daughter, Anna! And hoping she feels better soon. I have a niece who had malaria and it does improve quickly with meds.

My quilt is complete and I want to get it sent soon! Enjoying the cute ones already posted.

Annaquilts 06-15-2013 07:05 AM

Thank you all for your prayers. they are being answered. Good news, the specialist saw DD and she is now also on the correct medication. Like jillnjo says once DD is on the correct medication improvement is expected quickly. It is good to hear that reaffirmed.

luvstoquilt Please do not put it on fire. Maybe do only part of it? You know the part that is fun. I am easy going and will love what you send.

luvstoquilt 06-15-2013 07:13 AM

Just got a call ... Mom rolled out of bed...I am going over asap and will take the "cursed" quilt with me to start quilting it! I won't set it on fire, Anna, but still not so sure I will send it on to you! I will see what happens next with it! sigh

Cogito 06-15-2013 07:39 AM

Oh luvstoquilt, I am so sorry! I worked in the hospital for years with the elderly and sometimes no matter what we do we can't keep them safe. :( I hope she hasn't been injured. Take care.

urgodschild2 06-15-2013 07:56 AM

OK I have been lurking for the past few months as I am trying to get three duvet covers made for the grandkids. But I love the pictures of the pets. I had a male orange cat named Bailey. He nursed any of the little kittens we found and took care of all the cats in the house. He was a great little babysitter. He also was the cat who kept everyone happy. He passed away at age 16.

urgodschild2 06-15-2013 07:56 AM

Ok I should say that he pretended to nurse the kittens. LOL. He snuggled them, cleaned them and was just one great cat.

Krystyna 06-15-2013 07:59 AM

URGodsChild2 - what a sweet kitty. Hope you come back to play with us soon!

Sharon, I'm so sorry about your mom. What a worry. I hope she'll be OK. (((HUGS)))

Anna, wonderful news! Still praying for full recovery!

Cheesehead sent me a beautiful red, white and blue DQ (and a couple of goodies as well)! Hers is ready for the label, so I hope to get it in the mail soon.

Krystyna 06-15-2013 08:09 AM

How sweet! Love the label, too!

Annaquilts 06-15-2013 11:04 AM

Adorable DQ! I am really loving all the prints, patterns and creativity.

BuzzinBumble 06-15-2013 01:04 PM

Anna, I am thinking about your daughter and her family and you and praying that she recovers very quickly! Malaria! Oh the things we don't have to generally fear here in the states. Pretty scary stuff but thank God the specialist got her on the right meds now.

Sharon, I hope your Mom did not break any bones when she hit the floor. Have they got bed rails set up on her bed now? It sounds like you are dealing with a lot of stress and grief and I saying prayers for you and your Mom too.

Cogito, thank you for the sympathy about Sam and the deer accident. It looks like the insurance company is going to declare the car totaled. But Sam is fine! You are right about the deer and overpopulation. We saw so many hit along the road on our way to Rochester. Tragic for the deer and the people.

Glad you liked the pups.

Bailey sounds like a super wonderful cat! And he a yellow tabby! I had one like that when I was young. His name was Thunderfoot and he used to follow me when I went jogging.

Krystyna you are a little brat! Do you know how difficult it is for me not to peek? I am the type of person who has a hard time resisting temptation like that...but I will be good...I hope. Mwah ah ah!
Your quilt from me is not going anywhere for a few days, but I'm happy with it so far.

Cheesehead that is a really cute RWB quilt you made for Chasezzz! Is that pattern called a Little Twister? I like it!

tesspug 06-15-2013 03:55 PM

a mannequin to chat with (although she doesn't have much to say in reply) Oh, Krystyna, there are so many times I wish I had someone to chat with who would not talk back.

The dogs don't say much either. Looks like you have one. I highly recommend them. Except when they are rolling in stink.

skaduzy 06-15-2013 04:29 PM

Hi Nancy............in Louisiana! I've finished your doll quilt and am ready to mail. Would you please PM me your address. I don't know why I always seem to work on the 'large' scale. I think this is more of a tabletopper!

BertieD 06-15-2013 04:56 PM

Cheesehead, I love your lil RWB Lil Twister quilt, especially the background fabric with teeny stars. I just made a Lil Twister quilt the other day, my first, and I LOVE it. Looks complicated but so easy! Even for me, haha.

Cogito 06-15-2013 07:30 PM

Krystyna, I love the artwork you shared with us.....you are right, there we are! Lol. My sister is an artist and this reminds me of some of her work.

luvstoquilt 06-15-2013 07:34 PM

Bertie you are inspiring me...I thought a Twister would be hard to do!

Guess what Anna? I finished the %&%*($ quilt and will mail it soon. I think I might like it now that it is finished! My husband was in Africa on business and came home with Malaria...once he got well it never came back again but he wasn't allowed to donate blood.

Krystyna I love those ladies but I don't see any stockings rolled by the knees!

Lara there are rails on mom's bed but they are just about 1/2 way down the sides. She will be getting full rails on Monday. Luckily she wasn't hurt badly..just a small scrape on her knee...she was actually hanging on for dear life when they found her. She swears someone told her to get up. She is really confused now..nothing makes a lot of sense but I agree with whatever she says. She can't even answer the phone anymore...I know it is just a matter of time before she won't know me. Today she was fussing because I never come over...I go every single day. Some of the things she says are really funny...they all were taken downstairs the other night when the storms were so severe...I asked her about it the next morning. She said, "Did I go downstairs? I don't remember!" She thinks Zach (my 9 yr old GS) just got a car. Life is interesting! At least she is not in any pain.

LOL This is so true. Now especially since we are camping with Nina who has long hair.

Annaquilts 06-15-2013 08:27 PM

luvstoquilt I am glad your mom did not sustain any serious injury. That must have been scary for her.

Sorry to hear the pattern was challenging. I bet you are glad to be done. I am sure I will like it.

Quilter Momma I have your little quilt finished.

Psychomomquilter 06-16-2013 03:22 AM

oooooooooooooooooo I am the one with the thermos with hot coffee? maybe hot tea, um nothing stronger........ this is the three elderly ladies sitting in the rockers. I do think its cute anyway. and maybe they are solving a "murder mystery, or any other kind of mystery."

Psychomomquilter 06-16-2013 03:26 AM

all of you are doing some great dq's! sorry I couldn't be in the fun this time. but sure do plan to be in in July!!

NanaKathy55 06-16-2013 03:46 AM

My wonderful sweet mother-in-law lived with us until she went to heaven and her mind went also but I would sing to her hymns and when I did she would sing them with me..even when she new nothing, she would remember those words..that was such a blessing and it touched everyone who heard her..

BuzzinBumble 06-16-2013 05:38 AM

Kathy that is so beautiful about your time with you DMIL. Made me cry remembering mine. She was a wonderful woman too.
Sharon my heart goes out to you and your Mom. I hope the railings help.
Anna, any updates on your daughter?

Krystyna, I Love the artwork you found. The ladies remind me of a favorite poem many of you probably know, written by Jenny Joseph:

Warning

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple
With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick flowers in other people's gardens
And learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

berryberry 06-16-2013 06:53 AM

Bed railings are considered restraints. Normally they only put up one side. Can the bed be lowered?

luvstoquilt 06-16-2013 08:50 AM

Bed is lowered!!!! She didn't have far to fall and luckily wasn't really hurt. A nurse had just left her and she buzzed. The nurse said she was actually hanging on to the side of the bed with her feet and legs dangling. She has no memory of it at all. She is much like a small child now...sometimes a naughty child trying for attention. She is fussing about everything now even the things and people she loved most. My poor mother..

Lara I loved that poem! I am practicing now but I have to be careful...I am at the age they could commit me!LOL

createfourpaws 06-16-2013 11:48 AM

Finally broke through my creative block. I haven't been able to do anything for a few weeks now. Today I have finished my DQ for Grandma Di, just need to finish the binding. I am so glad to finally get over the block.

Will be mailing next weekend.

Cheesehead 06-16-2013 12:46 PM

DH and I have been gone all weekend and just got home. Karen, "Chasezzz" so glad that you are happy with your doll quilt. Lara, "BuzzinBumble" yes it is the little twister...and I adored your poem. BertieD, this was my 1st Lil twister quilt too. I was so scared to start cutting, but once I got going it was lots of fun to do.

Lynnie25 06-16-2013 12:55 PM

Cheesehead, love your avatar :) and your adorable little twister quilt for Chasezzz. I am a lil twister fanatic and have made so many quilts using the twister tool.

Cheesehead 06-16-2013 01:40 PM

Thanks Lynnie, the avatar was designed for me by a friend on another forum. A Cheesehead is a Wisconsin thing, it's the dairy state and home of the Green Bay Packers. If you have ever seen a football game in Green Bay, you will see many of the fans wearing these foam cheese shaped wedges on their heads.
