Sapphire_Rae 02-25-2013 03:41 PM

I just signed up for this months swap. I am a newbie to swaps, this is my first ever. I'm nervous, yet excited.

Dragonfly Nana 02-25-2013 03:57 PM

TY Krystyna - While I love the green Irish, my family history shows that we are from the orange side - but who ever saw an orange clover, leprechaun, or anything else? LOL I think stick with the greens.

Krystyna 02-25-2013 04:00 PM

Paula, I'm sure there are orange shamrocks!
I want to welcome all the brand new swappers this month! I think we're going to have a lot of fun!

Dragonfly Nana 02-25-2013 04:02 PM

As for green ideas - I was thinking along the Celtic lines....maybe a traditional motif on a green background - but maybe I will have to do an orange shamrock just so I can say I have seen one! LOL

Krystyna 02-25-2013 04:05 PM

I don't think I'll be doing anything Irish this month. Thinking more of sneaky peeky green ... what does that mean? I do not know ...

Annaquilts 02-25-2013 05:55 PM

Counting down till I get my partner. I am super excited about this swap. I have done many swaps but this is my first doll quilt swap.something exciting about a small project with scaled down blocks or a pattern. I have several ideas but have not locked in yet.

Needlegrammy 02-25-2013 06:47 PM

Sent my PM and read the rules....I'm in for a little green!

Krystyna 02-25-2013 07:17 PM

Just a little reminder to everyone ... please be sure that your quilts are at least 12" one way or the other. We love minis here, but not TOO mini! :p

Annaquilts 02-25-2013 07:34 PM

Oh don't worry. I am used to King sized so 12-24 is mini enough. LOL

Tomorrow hubby and I will be out for most of the day meeting with a new private insurance adjuster, attorney and structural engineer to finally try getting somewhere with tearing down / rebuilding our house ... :) and :( ... don't know if I should be happy or sad. But at any rate, if anyone is signing up and doesn't hear from me ... patience please! I'll be back in the afternoon.

Wardy74 02-26-2013 12:20 AM

Good luck krystyna, what a nightmare.

wanda lou 02-26-2013 09:17 AM

Hope all goes well K.

Lynnie25 02-26-2013 12:07 PM

My quilt will just be green, nothing to do with St Patricks Day or shamrocks or leprauchans. I want to try out a new block idea so will enlarge to suit a DQ. That's what I love about this swap, being able to 'audition' new blocks/techniques before tackling a large quilt.

Krystyna 02-26-2013 12:15 PM

OK. I'm back. Sort of. Awful head cold today. I guess it's my turn. The house has settled more since we were last there, but this fellow is a lot more professional than the last one. Fingers crossed.

Wardy74 02-26-2013 03:39 PM

Oh sorry you have a cold but it sounds like the house man knows his stuff

Krystyna 02-26-2013 05:46 PM

Yes, and despite the fog in my head, I am feeling rather positive. My son came over this evening and helped move some stuff around and ... mostly importantly ... he put Darlene together for me! She's a tall one! And we enjoyed trying on her wigs.

Here she is. I'm not going to name her Darlene ... but taking votes for ideas ...

Dragonfly Nana 02-26-2013 08:13 PM

You could call her Diva....

LindaC 02-27-2013 02:55 AM

I've just pm'd Krystna to join in for March. It's been a few months since I did the doll quilt swap but as it's March, green and I am Irish that was the push I needed.

Krystyna 02-27-2013 04:54 AM

Wonderful to have you back, Linda!

quiltymom 02-27-2013 05:45 PM

I like precious I can't spell for crXXXXX tonite but sure you get it!!! But thats what she looks like to me!!!

Dragonfly Nana 02-27-2013 06:21 PM

Annaquilts 02-27-2013 08:47 PM

So what do most people do once you know the theme for that month's doll quilt? Do you wait to be assigned your partner and decide what to make after having contact or do you pretty much decide what you are making based on the theme?

kitsykeel 02-27-2013 09:11 PM

I don't suppose you would want to call her Sandy. NOT

kitsykeel 02-27-2013 09:13 PM

She really is attractive. What do you use her for? Are you a garment maker?

Krystyna 02-28-2013 04:54 AM

Anna, if it's a theme you just start stitching. If it's sender's choice, you can get in touch with your partner. Always fun to get to know a new quilting friend that way.

Krystyna 02-28-2013 04:58 AM

No. She will not be named Sandy. I make veils and had a head statue, but it didn't work for the longer veils. I also make scarves and aprons and used an antique dress for for those. When we went to an estate sale last weekend that advertised mannequins, I thought ... hmmm. Let me look up store suppliers. And you know what? Even with shipping, mannequins are pretty cheap! A lot less expensive than a good dress form. Her wigs were only $10 each.

Cool...I become skinny in one day...can't beat that for a diet program right???? LOL!

Wardy74 02-28-2013 07:51 AM

Looking forward to finding out who my first ever quilt swap partner is. I have decided to wait until I know who, just in case they do not like green. I think I have decided on the little quilt I am going to make. I am really excited about this.
