I heard back from HobbyKat1955 (Kathy). Here was her message to me. I don't think she would mind that I pass it along. She's safe.
"hi, no power since yesterday 1pm...finally got a generator and got it going today at noon for freezer and frig...no real rain so no flooding which was my main concern to having a backup to run pumps. high winds knocked down trees and wires so no word as to when we will get power bacvk here in ny. ri lost power per neighbors yesterday at 5 so can't even escape up there with the food to putin that freezer...OH welll...keeping fingers crossed that we dont run out of gas for this generator before lights come on...everything is closed. down to ipad with 79 percent power once it's gone no communication ...talk soon kathy" |
Paula, so glad to hear your faired well during the storm. Was just asking about you on the other DQ thread. I think Novembers thread is very appropriate. What your grateful for. This storm does getting you thinking about all the things your grateful for even in the event of a terrible storm.

Thought I would share this post here in case you didn't see it on the NOV DQ Swap....
This in from JauntyMelissa.... Good Morning Ladies, I know that I've been gone for a while and I'm sorry, I do miss the board dearly, BUT........ I am on this morning just to give y'all an update on my dear soon to be mother - in - law Krystyna. Even though our home was badly flooded and so was the rest of our community, we are all alive and well. There is no power, no gas, no water, no nothing and I am at my parents house in a village that has all of there own utilities and bring this update to you guys from here. We are all very thankful for everyone's prayers and well wishes, I know that yall love her as much as Blaze and I do. Cell service is spotty, if mostly non- existent in our community, and most of long island. I just wanted to bring you guys news of miss K, and let everyone know that she is safe. We hope everyone else on the Board who lives in the area effected by hurricane sandy is alive and well and just remember that we might of lost material objects, but we kept our lives and families, and we still have each other and that is what matters the most!!! |
Thank you everyone for your very nice comments on my DQ. Hope all is well with all of you. Nana Val

Many thoughts and prayers going out to all the storm victims. I cannot imagine the devastation you all are facing. The little quilts are, as usual, outstanding! This is such a creative group. I mailed mine to Handi today, PO man said it should arrive Friday or Saturday. I'll be sitting out Nov, too much on my plate and I am not an organized person, :( . Looking to forward to joining again soon. In the meantime I'll be peeking in to see some eye candy.
