Thinking about joining this one too. I have an image of an alien pincushion in my head, its been there for a while now and I havent sat down to make it come to life. May just have to now. Anyone have anything against the strange and bizarre.

Mary O 07-30-2012 03:47 AM

NO NO not strange and bizarre! Not for me.

Elisabrat 07-30-2012 07:18 AM

Not into strange and bizzare per say but if your alien was CUTE then I think I could change my mind :) I say make what makes you happy. If your pleased with it someone else will be too. My mom used to say there is a rear for every chair. This is about being creative. Thinking outside the box is a good thing. Worse case scenario you make it and hate it. You simply make a different one right? I have finished two and am going to make the third today. The best two out of three will go out and the last will become a shelf sitter with my other cushions. They look great on my prep table.

Okay I finished a jar pin cushion today, man talk about hard job getting that top back on. I'll just keep this one but one I want to make some adjustments..guess I just stuffed it too much.

Check out the fabric stash! lol I have over a yard of this fabric and where this lady hides her stash is so cute..in trees, under dining table... well just everywhere! lol

I'l send my information to join this one!

Hugs,
Cajun

That is beautiful! I love wool! I'm going to sign up, but will wait until I have something finished before I PM.

terriquilt1 07-31-2012 10:00 AM

They are both adorable, but I think I'm partial to the manniquin pincushion. Love all the details you included!

QuilterMomma 07-31-2012 03:20 PM

Say, what did you use for the base on that pin cushion manniquin? I have that pattern, cut up a bunch, stuffed them but no base to put them on.

Mariposa 07-31-2012 04:53 PM

QM-- candle sticks work great too! Thrift shops or Walmart are good places to find them.

QuilterMomma 08-01-2012 08:46 AM

Ok, now to go tothe Thrift Shop. Sure you require me to go shopping? It is not the fabric store though.

I have used votive candle holders and anything that has a little wide base to it.I sold 12 to my quilting buddies. The feathers you see on are real turkey fluff my hubby found in the woods.

QuilterMomma 08-01-2012 12:04 PM

Cool, I have those and can find them easily. I will shop the thrift shops to get the other as well, if there are any. This way can be ready with them for the craft show in November. Thanks mary

Here are a couple of more Jar pin cushions I just finished. One is themed for Mardi Gras since I live in Louisiana, the other I made for a friend. Hope you like them. I have one more jar just don't know..have some beautiful rose fabric might do one using a cluster as the center.

Hugs,
Cajun

Cute jars! The trim around the edge is great!!

QuilterMomma 08-03-2012 02:46 PM

those are cute cajunbear. That frog just jumps out at you and yes, the trim is pretty.

CajunBear 08-03-2012 04:39 PM

Thank you ladies! I'm sitting here looking at that last jar and pray tomorrow when we go shopping I don't see any more! lol

Very Pretty Jars, and I love all the other pin cushions too.

Elisabrat 08-06-2012 06:17 PM

I have my two ready to go... you can't see them or it wouldn't be any fun. I love the ones you have all created. The heart what cute work. I love stuff like that! I can't wait to see what everyone receives come swap time. Maybe I should make more just in case..heck you are all so creative I have to think.. how to push it even farther. These swaps are sure fun. Everyone starts with the same challenge and there are so many different end projects that you can not help but want to do MORE AND MORE (maybe that is the idea?)..

CajunBear 08-06-2012 08:04 PM

Thanks I did make the last one, gave 2 away at church last night. They loved them!

Hugs,
Cajun

The postage thing might be more of a shape and size thing than weight.

For a bit of weight, you can use rice, or lentils, etc. Have also known of folks using washers and such!

Mary O, your little blue elephant is too, too cute!

I just love the little elephant. Would love the pattern for that one. He is adorable, and I have a friend who collects elephants.

QuilterMomma 08-09-2012 07:27 AM

Wow, in all my pressure of life because I love to be busy, I know crazy am I, I finished stitching out two pincushions this am. Now to go dig out the stuffing and sew the opening closed. I will post photos when the are done. Love the embroidery machine. I am going to fill one with walnut shells and the other with fiberfil so I am covered both ways. Now onto finishing up those chicken blocks and getting show quilts done. Whew.

Mariposa 08-09-2012 03:21 PM

Geez QM- don't you ever slow down-? ;)

Slow down, grab it while ya can, time runs out to fast in a day. I did seven quarts of pickles last night. I will have at least another four on Saturday and maybe will put up a few zucchini pickles as well, might as well when you have it so have a full batch in canner. Did not get pincushions stuffed last night but no worries.

Great to see you Lynnie. Glad you are swapping.

Mariposa 08-10-2012 01:38 PM
