They might like two squares of 25 different neutrals, which would yield 50 squares, which is a substantial contribution to the postage stamp stash. Also, there are a lot of different types of neutrals--white on white, tea dyed muslin, muslin prints, antebellum beiges, warm tones, and cool grey beiges. Black and whites are considered neutrals by some fiber artists, just as are grays and browns in general. Lights, mediums, and darks--neutral covers a lot of territory. Still in all, though, a neutrals swap is a great idea if everyone is on the same page.

That is what I was thinking 2 of each so we can still do 50.

I have my sets all bagged up and will go out next week. I tried to get a bag of 50 neutrals--which I almost accomplished without going into my big pieces. (I usually cut from leftover 1 1/2 strips or 3" strips.) Sometimes we don't realize how many different fabrics we have! LOL

Great idea to do two squares of 25. That would be easy for many to do. I also had wondered about shading parameters.

In my collection, I think I would consider a neutral something that it more of a solid. Something to balance all of the prints. Of course, I don't know a thing about color, etc. I think my quilts turn out because I have a lot of help! :)

Most of the time when I'm quilting, I think of neutrals as beiges in lighter shades, usually. However, the lady in one of the above posts who said she'd like to see some dark neutrals in the blacks being shared was just as correct.

A solids palette of rainbow colors wouldn't be in accordance with a neutral color scheme.

Neutrals are not on the color wheel. Rainbow colors are.

Did requirements with this swap change? I started cutting my pieces already from the mystery quilt that is going on over under the Tutorials section.

If it has changed to neutrals I will have to back out because there is no way I can come up with that many nuetrals. I have a very small stash and usually buy for a specific project.

I think someone was asking about it. I didn't go back and look but that's what I come up with.
