Missi, are you sure your house is big enough to swap out 60 traders? !!!! :) Thanks for doing this!

pattis47 02-20-2011 08:55 AM

Missi,
I mailed my package back in Dec. I just noticed you don't have me marked as received. Please update and let me know you have them.

@Momma_K...she's beautiful! :thumbup:

Hope you get some good finds, and since I wrote that, I keep swishing suspect fabrics together for some sound--and found 4 more fabrics won on EBay "all-cotton" stashes or in thrift stores that tested bad. I tested one very softy thinnish fabric, and much to my surprise, it flaked softly, but it was cotton for sure. Once in a while the test goes your way. :)

Just a question on this? How does the test work with rayon? I understand that rayon is natural fibers stabilized through it's thread creation process. I bought a pair of "bamboo" socks the other day. Content label listed "rayon", nylon, and polyester, but no "bamboo". I'm sure with a blend like this I will get manmade results.

I don't know for sure. Rayon may have an aberrant odor from cotton, and bamboo as well. I just don't know for sure, except I do know I dislike working with bamboo batting. I am truly the fan of cotton.

oksewglad 02-23-2011 09:46 PM

That's what I thought, too (about rayon). Rayon can be so quirky and unpredictable. I remember a top I had made with what I thought was woven cotton shirting. I discovered it was rayon and then realized why it had shrunk so badly!

Snow day today, so I hope to finish my cutting.

KarenBarnes 02-24-2011 07:39 AM

Me too, Jen! I'm going to try to finish the backs and quilt two quilts today! Yay! See you Saturday!

Isn't it just so beautiful out there? Does the Alaskan in you enjoy this as much as the Alaskan in me?

It's taking me longer to cut this time. Last swap I pulled out 50 fabrics that I could get the right number of squares out of each. But my scrap box is overflowing with little pieces. So this time I'm purging the small stuff which makes it more time consuming to make sure that each set will have 50 different squares, but at least I hope to be able to close the lid on the scrap box when I'm done.

Enjoy your sewing time today! We're headed outside to play after breakfast. I think the backyard looks so beautiful when the snow is untouched, but seeing a snowman amidst kiddie footprints all over the yard is a beautiful sight as well. See you Saturday!

Missi 02-24-2011 08:50 AM

Just an update - we have 60 swappers - yah!!!!! Where I am going to swap these out I have NO idea. I might be headed to the church basement, I have gone there before to lay out a king size quilt and that works pretty good.

I was out of the town Monday thru Wednesday and it is snowing so I have not yet gone to the post office. I will try and get there this afternoon and update the list.

I also see a PM and note from pattis that I don't have her marked down as received. I will try and get to a double check this weekend.

pattis47 02-24-2011 02:51 PM

Thank you for checking, they were in snack bags, all fanned out double rows so you can see each fabric. I sent you 20 sets since you said that was the max.

Not so much, Jen! I like to look at it but the older I get the more I understand why my in-laws keep their house at 70! I'm cold!!! Plus it's so annoying to turn on the TV and see constant news about something so trivial (for other parts of the country, I know!)

mbogenpohl 02-26-2011 07:31 PM

Missi, mailing my package out to you on Monday!

sew cornie 02-28-2011 07:50 AM

Could someone please PM me Missi's address? I have it, but it's on the computer that's out of order.  I'm ready to send my squares.

Thanks!

Missi, Received your addy tonight so package is ready for the post office Tuesday March 3. Thanks so much for hosting this swap, had a blast cutting all those postage stamps all 1000 of them. Can't wait to see the postage stamps I get from the othe swappers!

Twisted Quilter 02-28-2011 07:05 PM

OMG, I didn't realize it was 1000 of those itty-bitty things! I just kept thinking 50, 50, 50...

pattis47 02-28-2011 07:11 PM

And you only have to do 8 or 9 more swaps to have enough to do a quilt.....

Well to be fair, we may not have to do 8 or 9 more swaps. I have a few fabrics of my own I can use! The countdown has begun as we wait for Missi to become totally unglued as she sorts and packages. Good luck, M!

goldendog55 02-28-2011 08:53 PM

Mine went out in the mail today. I'm also in another postage stamp swap at the same time, and 4 times a year, we each make 25 packages of 50! I thought I'd cut enough ahead of time, but I still needed to cut an additional 25 stamps for both swaps! Good guess!

Michelle, First of all, you should know I like to tease... You had me concerned with Tuesday being the 3rd of March but alas, it is only the first of March. Whew... I am already behind... lol, lol.

Momofthree 03-01-2011 07:41 AM

I finished mine up last night and they are ready to ship. I only need Missi's address. If I don't get to the P.O. today it will be Wed.

boilerbarb 03-01-2011 08:14 AM

Hi, I just joined for the first time and am sending 20 packets. Hope it doesn't matter what colors, etc, since I have a lot of reproductions. PM'd Missie

Evie 03-01-2011 08:14 AM

I'll be off to the post office tomorrow to mail my squishy. Can't wait to get my 1000 squares. It'll definitely help with my postage stamp quilt -- such slow going . . . . :(

Twisted you read my mind. I was thinking we swap again in late June or July? Anyone care to weigh in? Was also thinking about the neutral swap that we had discussed earlier. Twisted you wanna run that one? I'm afraid it might confuse people if I am doing both.

Twisted Quilter 03-04-2011 04:26 AM

Oh no, not me! I don't think I could host this kind of a swap. I know my limitations, and this one is just waaay over my head.

Missi you are my she-hero!

Mariposa 03-04-2011 07:54 AM

I'd be happy to host the "neutral squares" swap! It will be fun!! :)
