Karen stand back and look at it from a bit of a distance and you will see the white as the background and the dark diamonds in the center become 2 stars (diff shape-diamonds- than the white stars)

I love my Star Point blocks and my wing blocks because they give you the illusion of curves which in turn give you a chance to play with the look of curves and create these illusions.

When I sold to a local store here the gal who bought from me preferred scrappy to planned colors. so I had 12 yrs of using mostly scrappy in my work. As it was an Amish tourist area she preferred me to keep it to the Amish colors. That is why it is on the dark side. but I like a lot of contrast in my work. The more contrast the more the design pops out. I am now trying to get more into the lighter brighter fabrics but I still like this look. I did brighten it some by using a lighter border. In the past I would have added a dk green instead of this lighter one.

Isn't it funny how the brain works?? I love illusions. this is like one of those puzzles where you have to look across the surface of a paper where letters were written. If you get it right you see a word or picture

I'm thinking about making a sampler quilt using blocks that form illusions. What do you think?

    Rhonda,

I wanted to say thank you, and show you a mug rug I made from the 1.5 inch template you sent me.

I really enjoy doing the smaller pieces. This was about 10.5 inches square.
I have been lurking on this thread for a while, and enjoy the conversation. I wanted you to know that you have inspired me to go small as well as big.
