Some may know me and some may not. I used to post my quilt block patterns that I designed on a sampler thread and then I did a second sampler after that.

Most of them use 3- 5 colors and if you want to do a controlled scrappy you can mix up the color ways by using several reds or several diff blues etc.

I generally design using a 6 x 6 grid that means 6 rows of 6 blocks per row.
You do have to have a template to make them. I send out a free template if you need one. No postage needed
You can use my designs to make a 12 1/2" quilt block by using a 2 1/2" template.
or you can use a 1 1/2" template and make it a 6 1/2" quilt block

My quilt blocks are made using my shortcut blocks. but my shortcut methods are easy to do.

You can check out my stuff here if you are interested.

I do also have some 3 x 3 as in a shoofly or 9 patch type block

I would be happy to post my current BOM here if anyone is interested. I used to post them on QB but felt like noone was interested so I quit. I would do them here but I need to know if anyone is following along.

Okay here are a few of my favorite quilt blocks I designed. They look a lot more difficult to do but once you know the easy steps to make the shortcuts it isn't hard at all.

Sorry this top one is bigger than I realized.
In the layout you can see the individual blocks.
the first one is made with HSTs. Check out my HST method

This one is made with my star point blocks

And this one is made with HSTs again

It is possible to make the last block as a 6 inch version? I did buy a small ruler 1 1/2 inches by 6 inches. would that work?

If you cut two sides at a time it might work. but I think you'd have better accuracy with my template. I have your address if you want a template.

to answer your question if you use a 1 1/2" template and make sure your seam allowances are 1/4" you should have a 6 1/2" quilt block

I got your small templates a long time ago but had forgotten all about them. I have crafter's ADD! I see something new to make everyday!
