Quilting in the New Year Swap - Sign up Closed January 7, 2011

I suggested maybe appliqued sweatshirts - since we will know who it's going to we can find out the size. They can be cut open in the front and made into jackets with appliques on each side or around the bottom.
Just a suggestion.

I think part of the fun of this, especially between now and the deadline to sign up, is putting forth different ideas. That way you get to see what others think about and it might be something you hadn't thought of before.

Everybody staying warm? Tis a cold day here in Illinois but not as cold as it will be tonight. The wind chill is at a -10F but tonight it is suppose to get down to -20F. Figures, I might get my car back from being repaired tonight...just in time to see if it will start in such severe cold. I wouldn't have minded being picked up for one more day since by the time my ride gets to me their vehicle is nice and warm...LOL.
We have around 34 people signed up for the swap! It's a great start to the new year.
Everybody stay warm and happy quilting!

Not so cold today and with a slight dusting of snow. Is everybody thinking of what they might want to do for a pattern? It seems that wall hanging or table runners are a popular thought. I was going to start to look through some patterns and perhaps post a pix or two for some ideas. Anybody else have some ideas?

Has anybody thought of what type of method they might want to do? I have finished a couple of wall hangings this week (Christmas presents) and now I am looking at a couple of projects in English Paper Piecing. I have a tendency, I think, to lean towards applique type projects.
What about the rest of you?

Somebody gave me some templates for English paper piecing and then found a local store which brought to my attention that there is more to paper piecing than hexagons. I also read an article that used spray adhesive (basting spray) to do the pieces with instead of basting with thread which speeds up the process a bit.
I also love regular applique. This is a mini wall hanging (17") that I did more my mom for Christmas this year. She is in a nursing home so only small things will work on her wall. :)
